Just got back from a fabulous 5 days at the Metropole, if only we could have stayed longer. From arrival to check out the experience was delightful, professional and courteous. All the staff from housekeeping to reception made us feel most valued. Our room on the second floor was spotless, with magnificent views over the bay to Naples and Versuvious. Although our room overlooked a busy road junction it did not worry us at all, having been to Sorrento many times , we have become used to the noise. The food at the hotel was exceptional, although we stayed b&b we ate dinner one night and found our meals most enjoyable. The boys that work the bar give fantastic service, bringing us drinks round the pool. We cannot wait to return here and are already planning our next holiday to Sorrento and of course The Metropole.

Just back from a weeks stay at the Hotel Metropole. It was excellent! Location is great, a 15/20 minute walk on the same road into Sorrento with stunning views on the way. The walk on the road into town is not as bad as we thought it would be. We stayed half board and thoroughly enjoyed all the meals. Buffet breakfast had a huge choice and the evening meal three choices for each course. It sometimes sounded an odd combination, however every meal tasted lovely. All the staff were so friendly, courteous and helpful from the staff on reception, those in the restaurant and the ones in the bar. Lots of outdoor seating, plenty of sun and shade. We booked two trips with the hotel before we arrived. One to Pompeii and Vesuvius with lunch and the second a coastal tour around the Amalfi towns of Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Both were excellent. We also went across to Capri which was stunning. Booked a return trip on the ferry before we arrived. Recommend the chairlift at the top, great views and a great experience. Sorrento itself so much to see and some spectacular views. We also did the walk to Bagni Regina Giovanni about 25 mins from the hotel. Well worth the walk to the roman villa ruins and a hidden bathing spot. Uphill coming back so go early or late. Had a fabulous time in Sorrento and sightseeing on the Amalfi coast. We stayed at Hotel Metropole for a week in June, The hotel itself is a little dated but immaculately clean, staff and service are fantastic and we found drink and food prices to be excellent value for money in comparison to other places we visited in Sorrento we had a double sea view room and it was roomy and comfortable although we didn’t have a fridge or a safe the room was great for the price we paid. As we read on trip advisor prior to our visit the hotel is around 20 mins walk down hill into the centre , I would say approx 300/400 yards of this is walking on the road which is busy and can be daunting at first but we walked down and back up multiple times a day sometimes late at night and never had an issue. Bring comfortable shoes and enjoy every second!
