We recently stayed at the Majestic Palace Hotel in Sorrento and had an exceptional experience. The hotel was impeccably clean, and the room we stayed in offered a stunning sea view that made my mornings truly special. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, but a special mention goes to the manager, Espedito, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect during our stay. His kindness and helpfulness really stood out and made a great impression. Overall, a fantastic hotel with great service—highly recommended!

“In my opinion not a 5* hotel , too far from any life”

Upon arrival the concierge rushed out to our taxi and took our cases into the reception, very pleased with the service so far. We were given a garden room, upon entry we noticed the beds were pushed together making it a double,staying with my sister we requested to have single bedding so we could separate the beds we were told while we were out searching for somewhere to eat they would sort this out for us (they didn't) on our return we asked again and finally a maintenance man arrived to sort the beds (he was lovely) room was very clean but with old fashioned furniture (knob missing off wardrobe ,stiff drawers really noisy to open and close) beds were rock hard , garden chairs very hard to get in and out of ( low and rocking) massive wall in front of the garden rooms so they GET NO SUN .we had ants in the room after having the doors open in the evening, maid service daily, food and drink in hotel very expensive and fussy , buffet breakfast was lovely with lots of choice hot and cold options, coffee machine , juices etc (NO TEA MAKING FACILITIES IN ROOM) swimming pool was freezing so we didn't get in. Upon departure we were left to drag our own luggage out to the taxi in the street !! LOCATION not really anything close by 2 or 3 places to eat within 10-15 minute walk but more like pop ups than proper restaurants. Train great 1.50 flat cost no matter how far you go (went to Pompeii) Taxis are expensive 25.00 to get to Sorrento 10 minutes away (but a good half hour walk) Sorrento is the place to stay lots of shops , bars and restaurants open till late with a real party atmosphere.

We arrived at the hotel approx 22:30 on a Friday night. We asked if they were still doing food. The terrace bar on the roof was open, so we went up and ordered a drink, they stopped doing food at 22:30, but reopened the kitchen for us. We had a dry martini & several beers before it close at half 11. When we got the bill, we were shocked to see it was €12 for a bottle of lager and €16 for the martini! Not a good start! The hotel was clean, the bedrooms were dated & could do with a bit of a makeover. The included breakfast wasn’t much to write home about, and the same everyday. The staff on the downstairs bar were really good, happy & chatty. The pool was in the shade most of the day, and absolutely freezing cold. The location is a bit far out, a good 25 min walk along some very busy roads to get into Sorrento, or you can get the train for €1.50 one way. On check out we were told we owed €10 for towel hire! We were not told that we had to pay to use the towels roubd the pool. €2.50 per towel, and we got towels on 2 separate occasions. In a supposive 4 star hotel the towels should be included. There needs to be a sign up stating that you need to pay for towels.

Mixed views on how to rate the Majestic Palace. Front desk, housekeepers, poolside and lounge bar are without a doubt, 4*. Each staff member we encountered in these areas were outstandingly friendly and helpful. The lady covering the poolside terrace/lobby bar and lounge was incredible and the food and drinks here were very good. I felt breakfast and bedrooms were perhaps more of 3 star. Rooms huge, beds comfortable, all very clean however felt a little basic and lacking some of the standard amenities expected of a 4*. The shower; either too powerful, it’s drainage insufficient or the door seals needing replaced. Eitherway, had to carefully manage the pressure vs drainage each time to avoid flooding the bathroom, hallway and bedroom…as we did on morning 1 and 2. Breakfast, was average. Found ourselves wandering down to the terrace restaurant at hotel mediterraneo for their €10 small breakfast deal after a few days…which I would recommend. Staff at breakfast didn’t seem to echo that in the rest of the hotel in terms of friendliness, however were in no way rude…just a little less enthusiastic. Only visited the rooftop bar once…nice for a cocktail if that’s your thing. It’s for some and not for others. Location just outside of Sorrento and walkable in about 30 minutes. We found the walk perfectly fine and never felt unsafe at anytime as with some of the reviews I’ve read. Recommendations for good food, wine and service would be Lapillo which is just up the hill on the same street as hotel and Casa Tua in Sorrento. For great wine, Fuoro 51 in Sorrento and Masaniello Art Cafe in Amalfi.

Nice hotel on a quiet side street within walking distance to the bustle of Sorrento. Room - worst bit about the hotel for us, tired decor, patio door did nt lock property and the drains smelt constantly. We did nt complain as we were only there a few nights and barely in the room. Nice hotel on a quiet side street within walking distance to the bustle of Sorrento. Room - worst bit about the hotel for us, tired decor, patio door did nt lock property and the drains smelt constantly. We did nt complain as we were only there a few nights and barely in the room. Pool - Beautiful to look at, but hardly used it due to wanting to see the area. Roof top bar - Stunning views but €18 for a tiny cocktail. Also, no toilet up there so need the lift down 4 floors each time you need the toilet. Staff - All lovely and welcoming /helpful. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would go back, hotel has so much more potential.
