We were looking for a nice hotel to spend our 40th wedding anniversary at. After looking at several hotels around the Sorrento area we opted to stay at this one. As it was a special occasion so we booked a superior room with balcony and sea view with half board. The hotel is situated on a cliff and has stunning views of Sorrento, the bay of Naples and mount Vesuvius. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is classed as an upside down hotel. Our room was on floor 5 which was at the bottom of the hotel. The pool area and Spa was on 4, Breakfast and dinning room was on 2, reception was on 1 and solarium was on 0. It took a bit to get used to but was fine after a day or two. Breakfast was served between 7 and 10 and is a help yourself style. There was a great selection of food available to cater to all tastes and was very nice. You could also have an omelette freshly made for you by the chef to your liking. As we had booked half board we also ate in the evening. Dinner is served between 7.30 and 10 o’clock. You can either eat inside or on the outside balcony. If you want to eat outside, which I highly recommend you need to get to get to dinner when it opens at 7.30 as there is a limited number of tables outside and they fill up quickly. All the staff in the restaurant were amazing especially the wine waiter and head waiter. The wine waiter quickly remembered every night what we wanted to drink and was very funny. We had three courses, which you could choose from a menu that had 5 different items from each course to choose from. The portions are not large but the food on the whole was very good. You could also order ice cream and fruit with your dessert, which was very nice. Dinner was an amazing experience every night sitting on the outside balcony looking at the amazing views as the sun sets. After dinner you can go up to the bar lounge area and watch the sun go down with a drink. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side as they are in all of Sorrento. Draft beer was 7.5 euros, a large rum and coke was 13 euros and a Pinacolada cocktail was 12 euros. As there was a fridge in the room and we wanted to have a drink on the balcony before dinner we found a supermarket in Sorrento and stocked up with beer, Captain Morgan spiced Rum and coke. Prices were the same as back home in the UK. The hotel offers a free shuttle bus service which leaves the hotel on the half hour which starts from 8.30 in the morning and picks up at 10 to the hour. Note there is no bus service at 1.30 and 1.50 as the driver has his lunch break. The last bus back to the hotel is 22.50 hrs. The bus drops off at the back end of Sorrento by the Augusto Central Hotel. There are steps right next to the bus stop that take you down to the central level of Sorrento. Sorrento is a lovely place. It’s full of shops, bars and restaurants. Lemons is a theme that runs through the whole town. You must try a Lemon Cello spritzer and lemon cello. Prices for drinks in Sorrento are on the expensive side. Expect to pay around 6 to 8 euros for draft beer. We usually stopped for a beer at either the The Kiosk bar or the English Inn. After a long day out you can come back to hotel and have a lovely dip in the hotel pool. It’s not a large pool but it’s enough to have a little swim and cool down. There is also a bar and restaurant by the pool where you can get drinks and snacks. It’s also where they serve lunch. If you are looking for a very nice hotel with amazing views, very friendly staff and great facilities look no further than the Hotel President.

We rented the Villa Sacco for two weeks in the middle of June. The rooms were spacious, clean and had all the amenities we needed. The staff were incredible! Anna was fantastic, helping us plan transfers, excursions, and dinner reservations. Marco, in the hotel spa, gives a relaxing facial and message, which is needed after a few days of walking uphill. The highlights of our trip were going to top of Mt. Vesuvius, a boat tour of the Amalfi coast with lunch at Lo Scoglio, and a boat trip to Capri. Barhi, the Chef, and our butler in the Villa were also amazing, from breakfast to making sure we had everything we needed on a daily basis, we could not have asked for better service or people! 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic week in Grand Hotel President! The situation of this hotel on top of the cliffs overlooking Sorrento and the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the background was incredible. Eating in the restaurant, the poolside snack bar, having a drink in the rooftop bar all came with the most beautiful view. It took your breath away! The hotel has the best situation. Everything is laid out to make the best of the location. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all friendly and helpful. All our needs were catered for superbly well. We were made to feel special by all the staff and this made the holiday really memorable. The room was excellent, clean and kept so by the cleaning staff who replaced everything you needed each day. We did not have a room with a view which does cost extra but it just made going into breakfast each day to see it even more special! Pay for the view if you can afford it, if not the hotel does everything to make the most of the location. Breakfasts were excellent with the freshly made omelettes a personal favourite. We ate out most days in Sorrento using the shuttle bus to get there and back. This ran every hour. Just remember the break for siesta and make sure you get to the stop in good time as it can get full. We paid for two excursions through TUI which were fantastic. A visit to Pompeii and the climb up to the crater of Vesuvius is a must. We enjoyed a boat trip to Caprì and a couple of hours looking round the designer shops window shopping. A swim off the boat was great fun. This was a special week for us. This hotel is highly recommended and if we can we will look forward to returning. It is a reflection of the quality that we met many other guests who have returned multiple times.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel President for a week earlier this month and could not fault it. The location is fabulous with views of Sorrento, the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius from virtually everywhere in the hotel. The staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful, providing excellent service throughout our stay. The hotel itself has a traditional style with marble floors, pieces of Sorrento furniture and original paintings on the walls. The staff dress formally at dinner in either white jacket or black suit with black bow tie, which adds to the traditional atmosphere. The room was very comfortable and clean with a fantastic view from the balcony. The bed was in the middle of the room to take advantage of the view but as a result there were no bedside tables, which we found a bit convenient. Breakfast was the usual buffet style but there was a reasonable choice and the food was good. We stayed half board and the food at dinner was excellent. No buffet here, everything is table service. You do feel as though you are in a good restaurant with exceptional views. There was plenty of choice and we always found something we liked. We also enjoyed some excellent wines at reasonable prices. Lunch is served at the pool bar between 12:30 and 3pm but again there is plenty of choice and excellent table service. After 3pm they offer a reduced menu until 5pm. If you are staying half board, you can swap dinner for lunch, which is useful if you want and evening out in Sorrento. The lounge bar is a great place to sit and take in the view particularly for a pre or post dinner drink. Again, brilliant staff providing excellent service. The pool area opens at 9am and any towels left before this are removed so there was no reserving of sunbeds early in the morning. There were plenty of sunbeds available and they also had a stack of fold up chairs which was useful. We did not find the sunbeds that comfortable and that is something we felt could be improved. Getting into Sorrento is easy thanks to the excellent free shuttle bus service throughout the day. Finally, I would like to mention the lovely housekeeper, Marie Grazia. She was so friendly and did an excellent job keeping our room spotlessly clean. A big thank you to the hotel and all the staff for a wonderful stay.
