Really a beautiful designed suite but isn’t the most practical or comfortable. Low ceilings (tall people will haver to duck), terrible shower, open toilet, hard to reach service, hard to find the location, a bit noisy and no breakfast. But the bed was comfortable, nice hot tub, just stunning design everywhere, big bathroom and big bath tub, very nice staff and close to everything in Oia. Just don’t expect to be in the famous part of Oia. It has recently been remodeled, so there are some kinks they have to work out. The room (Compact arched sea view loft suit with hot tub) Beautifully designed, quite a feast of architecture to create a spacious feeling in a small suite. The room consists a terrace, a lower level with bed, open closet, couch, fridge (filled with a big water bottle) with plenty of room including a small freezer, water boiler with tea bags (green and english breakfast), two mugs and one spoon, well lit big mirror and a small TV. The TV is above the balcony door so it’s not the most relaxed way of watching but doable. Normally, in every other hotel in Greece, we get a free water bottle refill every day. But here, we got just one on the first day. Too bad because then we have to go to the supermarket every day just for the water. Although the water from the faucet isn’t bad. The closet isn’t big; two small drawers, a plank and a hanger. We used the closed and the couch to lay open our suitecases and that worked wonderfully. The part below the bathroom has only a small light for the mirror but I missed a bigger light to light up the rest of the space. It’s quite dark. Upstairs is the bathroom. The part behind the bed has a very low ceiling. If you’re taller then 185 cm, you’ll have to duck. I’m 175 cm and everytime instinct makes me duck too. Because there isn’t any breakfast served here and we didn’t want to go out for breakfast, we just got fruit, muesli and yoghurt. I would have preferred wine or water glasses so we didn’t have to drink wine from a mug, and one extra spoon would have been nice too. But that’s a bit nit picking ;) Sleeping The bed is comfortable, soft but not too soft. Nice thick firm but still soft pillows (choiche between two different ones). At the head of the bed, there are two stone dividers with a build-in light, power outlets and light switches. Nice! Just be careful not to bump your head. It’s only has a sheet to sleep under but, upon our request, we got a (fleece) blanket. The bed isn’t very big, especially not in lenght. My husband (187 cm) feet couldn’t fit in the bed. So, don’t stretch :) It’s not the quitest at night. Sometimes you hear the music of a nearby bar, the neighbours (because of the roasters between the suites) of the wind howling. And it doesn’t really get dark. There are two windows high up, just beneath the ceiling with no curtains or anything. So it’s advisable to use a sleeping mask. Also there aren’t any night stands, unless you count the stone room divider. And no (alarm) clock anywhere. The bathroom It has a very spacious and completly open bathroom. Even the toilet, so you hear everything you’re companion is doing. And smell it too! 😉 It’s direcly under the arched roof so even I can’t walk upright here. Only in the middle we could stand upright, where the sink and mirror are, thank god. Which, in the beginning was a bit irritating but we got used to it quite quickly. Although I wouldn’t want to spend a week here. Plenty of room for toiletries next to the sink. They have the usual toiletries as well as toothbrushes and even female hygiene products! There’s also a blow dryer, in the drawer downstairs. The tub is really big and fits two people more than comfortably. The shower is downstairs and unfortunatly the water pressure was so low (it changed during the day) that the water temprature changed to very hot do very cold. And it would takes ages to rinse my hair after washing it. The shower head in the bathtub is even worse. I eventually rinsed it in the sink. The shower head leans forward so the water beam goes towards the handles. And my husband didn’t fit under it. Every morning we dreaded showering and it felt worse than camping in a suite. Just terrible! So every morning my day started out screaming when the temprature suddenly got very hot and my got in a irritated mood..They told us the water pressure is a problem in the neighbouwhood because there’s too much demand, the same goes for the power. So sometimes, the power goes out. It ussually doesn’t last very long though. But for the water pressure, there are things they can do about it. And no beach towels are available, a bit strange since most people want to swim and there’s a hot tub on the balcony. Towels aren’t the softest. But there are (even harder) robes and slippers in the room. You get two big towels, two medium and two very small for washing your hands. The last ones just don’t dry fast enough, so we just used the medium towel. A bit irritating that, even though we hung the small ones to dry on a different rack and used the medium towel, they changed it back every time. The airco Works well, a little loud but doable when you try to sleep. It’s controlable with a remote control. A bit slow, just press twice and it will react. There isn’t a mechanical or automatic ventilation, so the room easily gets damp. The airco can’t clear all the moisture in the air so taking a bath or shower in the afternoon, means sleeping in moist sheets. The wifi Really stable reasonable speed internet with a good connection, even on the balcony. The balcony Nice and spacious, with a small table, ashtray and two chairs. The hot tub is small, but big enough for two. Works well and although they used a bit of chloride to keep the water clean, the tub did have quite a bit of dirt in it. Our swimwear smelled bad after using the hot tub.. The balcony had a nice view of the other side of the island towards the sea. The railing was made of glass, which allows you to see more when sitting in the hot tub. Service The staff is really nice. We met the manager after we complained about the shower. The water pressure was low, temprature fluctuating and no place to hang the shower head. He fixed it a hanger the same day and let a plummer come take a look. Really bend over backwards to help us. The woman who takes cares of the houses is also very nice and has a lot of suggestions on where to eat or what to do on Santorini, complete with a map. Both of them can be hard to reach sometimes. Since there isn’t a desk, we couldn’t find her when we tried and her cell phone doesn’t have reception in the building. Emailing apparantly is the best way to reach her (which it would have helped if she told us). Location Although technically it’s located in Oia, it’s not on the marble street or even on the side of the beautiful pictures of Oia. On top of the hill is a street and on the other side of the street is Muses Cycladic suites, looking out to the sea on the other side. We could hardly find it, because we got the wrong adress. The one on Google is almost correct. It lies in the second street after the main street and isn’t accesable by car (officially). The road towards the suites has a sign you can’t turn left, but it is the only way to get there, so some people just ignored it and park the car on the side of the small road. The sign of the name of the suites isn’t visible from the street but it’s on the right of the building. By the way, the main street is one way only, to the left and there’s no sign. The nearby parking aereas are private, but after asking we could park there. Be aware, there’s no lift in the building so you’ll have to carry your own luggage up the stairs. But it’s incredably close to the shops, restaurants, the famous marble street with all the tourists and to a couple of small supermarkets (2 min walking, not the one she mentiones).
