Really enjoyed our week here as the rooms are very spacious, nicely decorated and have the added benefit of a small kitchen and fridge. And then there is that caldera view - stunning. Whilst we had a huge outside area a first floor room would have an even better view. Paul and the team were so friendly and helpful - a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was beautiful every morning and a joy to sit on our patio with that caldera view. The hotel has a beautiful white and blue facade and a gorgeous swimming pool. Imerovigli is a lovely village with some very good restaurants and walkable to Fira too. I’d go back in a heartbeat and certainly stay in the Abelonas again.

The Abelonas Retreat is a very nice and well run hotel. The whole area is kept spotlessly clean. We had a maisonette style room with an amazing view. We were quite surprised by the openness of the upper floor which provided very little privacy between the two levels. We were told there were two bathrooms, when in fact it is just a toilet and sink upstairs. The stairs to the upper level were very difficult to navigate, even for our 24 year old daughter and the ceiling height was restrictive. The upstairs bed is a wooden pallet with a mattress, very low down! The downstairs bed was so comfortable, best we’ve ever had in Greece! The room was more old fashioned than depicted in the photos, but it is staff that make this hotel. They are absolutely fantastic and exceedingly helpful. The breakfast provided was satisfactory. We visited in April and the weather was rather inclement. It was exceedingly windy and the doors and windows were not exactly draft proofed, we did get a very wet floor one night when the rain came in. The steps up to the rooms are quite steep. The Abelonas is in a wonderful village and the hotel is very well positioned away from the crowds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
