Lovely central hotel, yes it is on the road but traffic noise was not a problem. Very friendly and helpful staff. Max 20 minute walk to everything, beaches, restaurants, old town etc. Room was great, TV, fridge, air con, coffee and tea, saftey deposit and toiletries all included. Towels changed every day, not really necessary, but sheets not changed, if fact the first morning the top sheet was taken away and we had to ask for them back. The only thing wrong was that the matress protector was waterproof/rubber so not very comfartable but the actual bed was very comfortable. The web site states it has a bar but it looks like it is not in use. After our first week we say people with drinks at the pool and discovered that if you asked at reception they would get drinks for you. The breakfast was as you normally get except the boiled eggs were hot and soft, sometimes too soft, the fried eggs were soft too. The pool area is quite small, the sun loungers are very comfortable but could be more of them. Also the umbrellas were fixed to the ground and very difficult to put up. We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

We enjoyed our week in the hotel. Breakfasts were fine and the whole environment of bedroom, pool area and foyer all kept very clean. We knew what to expect from a three star choice but we did not use our balcony as it looked simply at the building next door. Soundproofing in the rooms is not great. There is a small bar but you need to ask the receptionist to double up as bartender. All staff very helpful and anxious to please Location was perfect for all the attractions of Rhodes old town and harbour and all within walking distance. Transfer time to airport around thirty minutes.

“Great accommodation for the traveller on a budget”

Spent my first holiday in seven years at this hotel in Rhodes, and I am very happy with the choice I made. Booked it through Jet2 on a bed-and-breakfast package; it's a 3*, so I wasn't expecting super-duper-luxurious, and that was fine. It's a great base. The location is on a quietish one-way street with lovely buildings lining it - I caught all the springtime blooms, which was very pretty. It's near a number of local restaurants, so you're spoilt for choice when looking for good lunch and dinner options. It's five to eight minutes' walk down to that beautiful seafront, and it's also at a central point where you can walk to the magnificent harbour and Old Town in about ten minutes. The rooms are basic, but clean. The breakfast buffets are unspectacular, but widely varied and tasty, and will set you up for the day. The pool area is quite nice - the pool itself is pretty decent, and it's a good spot to catch the sun on the loungers. Only downside is that the sides of the hotel are a bit of a wind-trap, so the loungers by the ends of the pool get a fair bit of breeze. Best of all, I had great service. I suffered the misfortune of my mobile phone breaking (which, in this day and age, can cause a ton of problems), and the reception staff were nothing but friendly, helpful, and resourceful in helping me book tours or finding my way around. I plan to go back to Rhodes at some point, to see all the stuff I missed. If I'm still on a budget by that time, I will most certainly choose the Downtown Angela again.

Stayed for 7 nights in a front street facing balcony room. I hope not to repeat previous entries, and address a couple of issues. Stayed for 7 nights in a front street facing balcony room. I hope not to repeat previous entries, and address a couple of issues. Firstly, the street noise on a night time was terrible, often until way into the early hours, I'm not sure how other non front facing rooms were affected. The balcony patio door offered little in reducing the noise. Secondly, my tour operator ( jet2 holidays) drop you off at the bottom of the street approx 400 metres from the hotel, in theory not a huge issue, what they fail to tell you is that the journey is up a slight incline, the pavement is in very poor repair and impassable with luggage in several places, walking onthe road is dangerous due to traffic. If you have limited mobility this could be an issue. Hope this helps.
