“Excellent Hotel and Amazing Staff”

A perfect place for a relaxing holiday. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The staff are all amazing and helpful. I do have to say that Giorgos and his excellent team in the Castellania Restaurant were truly outstanding. Thanks everyone for helping to make our holiday so special.

Lovely Stay for 4 nights, great facilities in the hotel, 3 pools in total, under walk passage for the beach which is only a 2 minute walk. Staff were lovely. “Lovely hotel and holiday, in a mini June heatwave.”

My wife and I have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Sheraton Rhodes resort. We stayed half board in a Panoramic Seaview room (on the 11th floor). During our stay, Rhodes experienced a mini heatwave (35 - 39C in the shade every day). This restricted our plans to walk the 4K into Rhodes town most days. We did taxi it once (€10 per couple, the intermittent bus ride is €1.80 per person each way, though it does not always stop when it should). The Room - this was large and clean with the most spectacular view over Turkey and the island of Symi. Had everything we would want, except for bathrobes/slippers. The balcony was large. The Food - breakfast offered a good choice for us with fresh OJ and lovely coffee. Great omelettes and plenty of hot and cold options. Dinner is slightly limited in their options, for a 5-star hotel, compared to many others we have stayed in. The Drinks - these are very expensive, e.g. a bottle of rose at dinner for €36 upwards, bottle of water €4.50. There is a small supermarket on site, however there are a number of supermarkets close by the hotel. The same wine can be bought for €8 in the supermarkets that is sold in the hotel for €36! The Gym - we used this every day. It is open 24/7. Had enough weights and machinery to suit most people with a good selection of cardio equipment. A/C in the gym was not the best and can get a bit warm if there are a few people in there. The Staff - everyone was very helpful and friendly throughout the hotel. We didn't have the opportunity to note all of their names, however one lovely waiter did stand out, Dimitris. Although everyone was nice, Dimitris brightened up our trips to the restaurant, especially at breakfast, where he was more than helpful and very funny, a real asset to the hotel. Overall - this appears to be a business type hotel, where you may see conferences at times. Evening entertainment is again "limited". We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet stay.

Last night of a five night stay now. Family of four. TL;DR: the property could be great, but too many cons means I’m highly unlikely to return. That said, the island is gorgeous. Pros: comfortable family room with gorgeous sea view balcony. Beautiful beach with sufficient chaises for those currently on property, we’ve been able to find space whenever we’ve gone out. Staff are generally friendly and try to be helpful. Onsite mini mart has a lot of reasonably priced drinks, snacks, and a good 8€ bottle of Greek rosé. Breakfast buffet with a convenient and has sufficient options. Cons: unless you have a rental car, getting anywhere from this location is an absolute headache. Bus is full by the time it gets to the stop outside the hotel, and we never waited less than 20 minutes for a taxi. Tonight, our last night, we had to cancel our dinner reservation in Old Town because after an hour of waiting for a taxi the front desk ordered, the best option offered was to wait another “15 minutes” to share a minivan with several others and hope our restaurant would still seat us. I wish the option would have been suggested sooner. My kids are still young and had no interest to wait any further, but even when we decided to eat on property, they waited over 30 minutes to get food. The hotel food is meh if you want authentic Greek. Restaurants in walking distance are not very good either. Pools are nice but already crowded in the third week of June, get up early if you want a chaise.
