My daughter and I had a wonderful holiday at the Electra Palace. We had a superior sea view room, the sea view was absolutely wonderful. Sun on the balcony in the early evenings with amazing views. The sea breeze on the beach was welcome in the heat and the very large / different pool areas meant there were always different places to relax by the pool. The service from the staff was outstanding and the food/restaurants were extremely good and catered well for my daughter who is a vegetarian. We felt very safe and the regular private bus to Rhodes for 8 euros return was super useful (there was another to Lindos we didn’t take). Highly recommend this hotel.

“Greek Idyll”

So, I’ve given my rating as 5*, even though the hotel is definitely not perfect (I’ve highlighted the pros and cons below), principally because I believe the management and reception staff are truly committed to providing the best possible customer service experience they can. I had an issue with the hot food in the main (buffet) restaurant - and the way in which the management and staff reacted to my criticism spoke volumes about how seriously they wanted to make my stay the best they possibly could! So, the positives: - great location - close to the airport and Rhodes Old Town (which is a gem!) - reception staff went above and beyond to provide support and assistance throughout ( I recognise some of the other reviewer comments about bar staff, though - it’s a tough ask, being constantly friendly to guests who have imbibed too much!) - good facilities - pool area is extensive (though see below on the negatives) and some nice chilled seating areas. The beach side of the hotel provides for a much quieter setting - with great sunset views - Greek Tray speciality restaurant - very good food and a lovely experience. Italian Passage speciality restaurant (you need to reserve for dinner in advance in the speciality restaurants, which is simple to do) was fine, with the exception of my first meal there. - the wine pairing meal experience showcased some excellent local wines and the food was good, albeit a fixed / set menu with no alternatives - this would be a great third option, if there was more than one set menu. - the variety of excursions which the hotel provides (via app or in room TV) is really extensive, good value and really showcases what the island has to offer. I arranged for private tennis lessons, high speed boat trip to Lindos and Symi island as well as a sunset cruise. All of these were wonderful. Just wish I had scheduled in some additional activities! - for an ‘all-inclusive’ hotel, I found the quality of drinks to be surprisingly good. - cleanliness and housekeeping throughout very good The negatives (for me): - this isn’t a criticism of the hotel - but the majority of guests were here with pre-school children - which meant that the pool area was way too noisy for me with screaming children and therefore essentially a no-go area for me during the day time. This was something that my travel agent (Trailfinders!) should have highlighted - and I would have chosen a different hotel had I known. In any case, helped me to realise to only book “adults only’ venues in the future. I can only image what the pool area must be like during school holiday season - hell on earth for me! - my garden room was pretty compact - not even a comfy chair to be able to sit and watch TV - had to lie on the bed. No drawer storage space, so a lot of my shorts and t-shirts had to be left in the suitcase. Incorporating some drawers into the wardrobe would be an easy fix. - it would be nice if the minibar could be re-stocked - quality of hot food in the main buffet restaurant was disappointing for me, but breakfasts were fine and the speciality restaurants provided me with satisfactory alternatives. Given the waste-line of many of the guests, I think was a case of quantity over quantity being appreciated! So overall, I had a great holiday - Rhodes is definitely to be recommended - if you make the most of it (i.e. explore the island). I wouldn’t return to this hotel - only because I think it is best suited to young families, but I would reiterate again that I felt the staff were outstanding!

Came here with my partner for 8 nights and we are both in our late 20s. It's a nice hotel overall and I do agree with a lot of the comments that say this is more of a 4 star than a 5 star but realistically that's what you pay for. It's not a 5 star price tag so we can't really complain but here is our experience: Pool area - Pool area is nice and there's a good variety of beds however the reserving beds rule is not enforced. We are very early birds and would come down at 8am after breakfast to find most of the nicer spots reserved and people didn't come to claim them mostly until after 10am and the hotel did nothing about it. - The standard sunbeds are really awful. There are no cushions and the umbrellas are fixed so you cant move them, also very crammed together which made it feel cheap. We tended to use the beds on the decking which were nicer. - I would really recommend you introduce an adults only areas for both beds and the pool. We are a couple and couldn't escape the small kids wherever we went. It would be great to encourage families to use the pool intended for children so adults can have an area to relax without kids jumping in every second. - We thought the pool bar was fine, don't understand people who are fussed about branded drinks as we would never have even noticed. The male bartenders are really nice but the women are very very rude. Asked for an iced soya fredo one day and she told us that soya doesn't foam so she wont make it. This is such a ridiculous thing to say. We drink soya milk a lot, obviously it foams. We also had these coffees from the coffee bar every day and when I told her that she just said nope you can't be, it is a seed so it does not work. Just so unnecessarily rude. - There are 2 sides of the bar which is confusing, sometimes both sides are open sometimes they aren't so you never know if you will get served on the second side until they shout at you to go over. - Table service would make this more of a 5 star experience. Restaurants - The buffet food was mostly fine. We're both vegetarian and didn't struggle to find things to eat at each meal however some more vegetarian options like halloumi gyros would have been nice as it was definitely meat-centered. Breakfast is probably the best meal. However it's a shame they don't do coffees to order and you have to use the machines. I don't drink milk so had to have black coffee until the coffee place opened at 10am which I feel is quite late. Definitely recommend sitting outside as its a MUCH nicer experience. We had to sit inside once when it was particularly busy and it was very loud and we weren't served drinks once. - The wine at every restaurant was absolutely awful and we aren't fussy but I couldn't drink it. It tasted like £3 chardonnay and was heartburn waiting to happen. - We didn't like the Italian for lunch at all, I had a vegetable pasta and it was honestly just plain tomato sauce with penne. We didn't go back there for lunch but did have dinner which we really liked. We tried to go back for dinner on our last night but it was fully booked (although we walked past and there were plenty of tables so this was frustrating) - Greek restaurant starters were nice and they kindly made us vegetarian alternatives which was a nice tough as we thought we'd just have fewer starters. The mains unfortunately were not great, we had a stuffed courgette which we'd eaten at the buffet previously. It was a shame as vegetarian food is not hard to do in Greece. - We couldn't eat in the wine bar for dinner as they only do a fixed set menu which of course is meat only but we did go there for a drink twice before dinner which was nice. Room - Our room was nice, we had a superior sea view and the sea is stunning. Our room was more on the side than a full view but we didn't mind. - Was given a bottle of prosecco and cake on arrival as it was my birthday that week however we left this open on the side after drinking 1 glass and it was taken away by the cleaner. We were also given a welcome bottle of a local spirit when we arrived but this was also removed from our room the following day never to be returned. We never even got to open it! - There's no iron. I called down for one once and you're only allowed to use it for 30 minutes before you have to return it. Not really 5 star service. - Our shampoo was not filled up, got in the shower one evening before we were going out and had to call down for more twice to get it bought up. We were bought a whole vacuum packed bag of shampoo which we had to rip open with our teeth rather than a bottle. We ended up missing our transfer to rhodes town because this all took so long. - Our bed was 2 twins pushed together with a matress topper. Other - Entertainment was ok, the dancers were the best but nothing else stood out to us - The shuttle to rhodes town and back was great, its 8 euros per person. Would be better if it was exclusive to the hotel rather than doing multiple stops. - We were given a complementary late checkout of 2pm on our last day which was great. We also then used a shower room for 20 minutes later in the evening which was fine, easy enough and meant we could actually enjoy the last day. Overall we did enjoy our stay and it wasn't wildly expensive. If you're looking for a chilled holiday close to Rhodes town then it works but don't expect 5* service. There are some easy fixes they can make to make this more of a 5 star experience for others in future
