This was our 1st visit to Kos. The hotel was exception clean and tidy in all areas especially the bedrooms which we serviced each day by Yanis one of the friendliest maids we have seen. The bedrooms had all the usual toiletries, TV (note No BBC channels) a free safe and fridge,excellent air con. There is also a bug screen on the sliding door to the balcony. We did not experience any mosquitoes during our stay. The reception team were very helpful and answered any questions we had. The dining room was very clean and well serviced by the very friend staff who worked hard every day with a smile. The food was a good mixture of Mediterranean and European produce and the evening meals varied each day. If you required food during the day there was a pool bar/food available. There is a swim up bar in one of the 2 pools but this looks like it was open only in the high season July/August. There were always sun loungers available during our stay even though the hotel was busy. Be warned if you don’t like cats then maybe this hotel is not for you as they roam the hotel main walk ways and areas but not anywhere near the bedrooms. The cats looked well looked after and do not beg for anything. Although we did see one being removed from the dining area. We also seen a few chickens !! roaming near the pool area. There were roosters crowing early in the morning from various small holdings near the hotel but you get use to this. There are 2 bars in the evening one by reception served by Emilio (sorry if i spelt this wrong) who was very friendly always remembering your chose of drink and room number. The other bar was down by the dining /entertainment area. On the subject of entertainment, the two girls running this were very enthusiastic although we were expecting a few more singers / bands during our stay not karaoke or bingo most of the time. The hotel is a good 40 mins walk into Kos Town along a wide pathway which was shared with bikes and electric scooters which was something to keep an eye out for. There was a supermarket 400 mtrs towards Kos Town which sells bottled water which you will need back at the hotel. (6x 2ltrs bottles for €2) Hotel was €2.50 for a bottle. Beers cost were very similar to UK prices although very nice cocktails were €10 at the hotel. There was a small beach area exclusive for the hotel across the road at the bottom of the driveway but the entrance to the sea was very rocky and weighted bags were laid in the sea as a pathway. (Tip take surfer shoes or something similar which makes walking on the stones a lot easier). There were limited tavernas on the walk to Kos Town but there were 2 just a small walk along the walkway from the hotel both with sea views. We preferred the second one Blue Ocean Taverna which was friendly and served good food at a fair price. A lot of people hired Bikes from the rental shop just outside the hotel (also cars and beach buggy’s). All in all this was a lovely hotel but maybe next time we would choose one in Kos town itself. (TUI rep was on site every day except Saturday.)

Just returned from a brilliant 7 day holiday at Hotel Platanista! Modern, Clean and Comfortable hotel. Staff were outstanding and very friendly! Food was a buffet for breakfast and dinner so could pick and choose what you wanted to try, we always enjoyed our food and looked forward to seeing what was on the menu in the morning for that night. Breakfast was between 7.30 and 10.15 and dinner was 6.30 until 9.15pm during September. Men need to wear long trousers for dinner but this wasn't a problem for us as its normal for this in most hotels we've been to. Beds were really comfortable, rooms were spacious and we had a balcony overlooking the pool which was lovely - it got the sun in the morning and then shade in the afternoon so that was really good for us when we wanted to cool down before dinner. Rooms has Air Conditioning which worked when the balcony door was closed. Rooms also had a safe that could be used free of charge - this was located in the wardrobe and a fridge in one of the cupboards underneath the TV. The 2 outdoor swimming pools were great, they were cold when getting in but once you started swimming you soon warmed up - lovely when you were too hot on a sun lounger and needed a dip to cool off. Sunbeds were lovely and comfortable too. Pools were open 10am until 6pm. The pool bar called Taverna had excellent food, it was delicious and reasonably priced - we ate here quite a few days if we were staying local to the hotel. It was a 30 minute walk to Kos Town, we never managed to figure out where the bus stop was, as this seemed to be different from where the TUI tour bus picks up at. There is also a bike hire shop a couple of metres away from the hotel and seemed a popular way to get around in Kos, we didn't hire bikes so couldn't say how much they cost. Their was a pool beach a couple of metres down the road with sunbeds and parasols. Beach was a bit stoney so best to have beach shoes - I'm sure the hotel mini market sold these, they also sold snorkeling gear that could be used in the sea. Beautiful blue waters with clear view of Turkey. We played mini golf in the hotel - it was €4 per person additional charge and paid at reception where they give you golf clubs and balls. There was a children's playground, tennis courts, volleyball court, beach volleyball, table tennis, gym and spa but we didn't use these during out stay but looked good. We got engaged in Kos on our first full day, and our family organised a bottle of champagne for us - this was a Greek champagne and was absolutely beautiful - if you celebrating I'd definitely recommend the Greek one on the wine menu. Large draught was €5, soft drinks were €3 and cocktails were €10 each so was very affordable. Cocktails were excellent and bar staff were very friendly. You could pay by cash, card or add it onto your room number to pay at check-out. The animation/entertainment team were excellent, very friendly and made the evening in the hotel! Every night at 9.30pm there would be entertainment on, this varied each night from a quiz, bingo, karaoke, Greek night, aerobatic show, and games night. Aswell as that in the evening, I always saw the team working hard throughout the day offering activities such as stretching, aqua zumba, volleyball, water polo, mini golf, boules and the lost goes on - there is a timetable next to reception to see what is going on at what times. The cats wandering around the hotel were lovely, friendly and no bother at all. It was great seeing then wander around the hotel - the staff were so kind to them. We love cats and have 2 at home so we're happy to see them. We travelled with TUI and the transfers were easy, simple, and booked 2 tours with them aswell - the Nisyros volcano which I'd definitely recommend and the Adults Aegean Sea tour - unfortunately this was cancelled on our last day due to high winds out at sea. Hopefully we'll get to do this in the future. Hotel Rep was really nice and approachable so if you needed any advice they were on hand between 9.15 and 12 each day except Saturdays in the bar located next to reception. Would definitely return to Kos and this hotel in the future!

In a quieter location of Kos Town this hotel proved to be more than satisfactory ! Rooms, spotless, beds are the comfiest we have slept in anywhere !! The food is amazing, lots of choice at both breakfast and dinner. The staff are friendly and helpful. Two large swimming pools, only small negative pools could be heated in late Sept/Oct Dining here was a joy so much choice and good food, housekeeping in rooms is excellent, how people can moan about this is beyond me ? Entertainment ? A bit childish for a mainly adult audience this time of year, but understand they maybe follow the same programme all season ? The young female leading the entertainment was quite annoying, repetative, with a patronising voice that would that scrapes like chalk on a blackboard, I would suggest better quality vocalists, music after dinner, and maybe the opportunity to dance before/after the main acts However on the whole found this hotel outstanding and would definately recommend!!
