Recently back from an idyllic week at this immaculate hotel. The welcome from the staff was wonderful - special mention to Vasilis for his cheerful and happy service at the bar, Afzal for his help when we were invited to a free room upgrade part way through our holiday, the blonde lady with the pale blue scarf/cravat in the restaurant and the General Manager for his lovely (genuine) welcome to the restaurant each evening. Food was plentiful and fresh. We had a lovely holiday and would definitely return. This hotel is ten times better than a 5* Indulgent Eacapes hotel last year in Gran Canaria that we stayed in - the Bohemia Suites & Spa - and was half the price. Love Greece and her people.

The Blue Lagoon Ocean is a beautiful hotel, not too big, with great rooms and customer service. The food was as you would expect for a 4* All Inclusive, but the weekly a la carte restaurant was a real treat. The reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and most of the service staff were really friendly . As adult only it was lovely to just get away and relax. We went quite early in May so the evening entertainment wasn’t on every night but we expected this due to low season.would definitely recommend

“Relaxing Stay”

We arrived at 1.30am after a delayed flight we were welcomed by the duty manager. He kindly drove and shown us to our room. The hotel had kindly left some sandwiches in our fridge with some bottled water. The breakfasts had a good selection of choice which set us up for the day. Lunches were very good but a little repetitive like evening meals but there are themed nights that we really enjoyed. The pool area was very good, plenty of sunbeds and the pool was a good size. One thing that let it down was smoking from holiday makers around this area and outside pool bar. We felt that there should be a smoking area so we don't have to experience the smell and 2nd hand smoke. This was the only negative at the hotel. We took a taxi a couple of nights to Kos town 12 Euro EW and ate out which was always do when away for a change of scene.

Ok where to start, not the easiest review to be honest but as you can see I have done a few and try to be as honest as possible from the view point of mid 50 year old professionals husband and wife. We were staying at the Blue Lagoon Ocean for our wedding anniversary and had emailed prior to ensure a booking in the ala carte and to confirm a good sea view from our private pool with sea view suite. Now we had read a lot of the reviews and to be honest we were a little undecided as there are a few differences of opinion although mainly good. On arrival friendly welcome, spotlessly clean and taken to room by golf cart with a really nice guy who helped with bags, once in room has a look around and sea view was ok if you stood on your toes from the corner of the patio, told them not happy and they immediately found us a more suitable room with a view a couple of doors away so all good. All the staff are absolutely charming, smiley and do a great job, the room itself was very nice (great shower), The communal areas, pools are very clean and well cared for and a lovely surprise bottle of bubbles from the hotel for our anniversary. Now this is where things get tricky: Food. Breakfast was fine, all the usual cereals, fruit, hot choices and freshly cooked omelettes etc. Lunch, a good choice of salads and a variety of hot foods enough for you to be able to find something if you really needed it.  Evening meal. In short, poor. Now when we go for an evening meal we like to take our time, have a glass of wine and normally have a light starter and a main course. The issue that I found is that the quality of meats used is not very good at all and  some of the meat that looks like beef and chicken is processed in a roll and not very pleasant. The use of chicken legs and the appearance of liver at least twice , can only be put down to working to a price point, now that is just my opinion and I do not go away to eat offal, chicken legs and processed meat, should that be what you enjoy you will not find it a problem and will enjoy it. Even though all inclusive we do like to eat out occasionally for a change of scenery but as the food was not of a quality we felt was acceptable we ate out 7 or 8 of the 12 nights that we were there at Romeos down the road, review has already been done.  Just to add only on 1 occasion was I asked if I wanted a refill of my glass by the restaurant staff. Now the ala carte was a different experience and the meal was very nice and the setting was lovely and the food was excellent.  One thing that is often brought up and the hotel says local drinks and all at strength from the manufacturer which they may well be but they must be the cheapest of the cheap. My main tipple is white wine and that I can assure you is watered down, some days it was ok others it was like wine cordial, so much so that it is even served to you in the recycled water bottles that you pay 3 euro`s a bottle for in the ala carte. Now with regard to the other drinks they are obviously of a low grade and all I will say is that they charge 1 euro for a small bottle of water (the free water is very mineraly in taste and to be honest first all inclusive we have been to that does not give bottled water) in the restaurants but will fill your glass with anything else for the prepaid all inclusive so, to be clear they charge for a little bottle of water 1 euro but will fill your glass up with the rest of the drinks they have to offer alcoholic or not as many times as you want at no extra cost. If you want a decent bottle of wine or a decent beer the mini market down the road is the place to go as the shop onsite is a rip off, Because of the mineraly water we had to buy bottled water daily and if could not be bothered to walk to the mini market down the road would buy a bottle of wine from there (4 euro more than down the road) but the thing that I was shocked by was they wanted over 26 euro for a bottle of suntan lotion and I heard a lady enquiring over the cost of a Magnum ice cream and that was just under 5 euro for 1, absolute rip off. Beach, nice to have a change of scenery and the water looked nice but you would need some foot wear to get in and out as it was very pebbly and the amount of people that were struggling to get in and out put me off trying as it looked painful.  Finally. Noisy neighbours. After our first week we had the arrival of some very noisy French neighbours who took it upon themselves to have gatherings in their room normally 6, sometimes more on the last but one day I believe it was 12 people went in to their room and with constant talking it made use of the pool which we paid a lot of money to upgrade to unusable and on our last night there was aloud screaming match where the group of 8 or 10 had been drinking all day and had obviously fallen out. After they had been there for a couple of days we told the hotel and asked them to have a word as I do not talk French and do not want to get involved with a group of drunken twenty year olds who have no respect for anyone, which they said they would but to be honest we did not notice a change, the issue would appear to be they could afford a nice room so all the people they went with and met there piled into their room. The hotel need to put a limit on the number of guests that could be in a room at one time to stop it being an issue moving forward as it was not very nice at all. Overall if you are used to a good 4 or 4 plus star hotel I do not believe you will find it that great, better to go for a shorter stay and stop at the Kos Imperial (we did 8 years ago which is mega by the way wish we had this time) or the Tui Blue over road, but the staff are very nice and hotel itself is ok but I am surprised how many great reviews it gets, but if it is an upgrade from your normal holiday you may think it is great but we unfortunately did not. Having to eat out, buy your own drinks and water because what is provided is not up to standard my opinion does not a 4 star hotel make.
