“Best hotel I have ever been too”

Honestly could not recommend this hotel enough. We were blown away. The people and service were exceptional. The hotel was unbelievably clean and well looked after. Food was great and plenty of variety. We will definitely be back. The best hotel we have been too

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Iberostar Creta Marine. This is an amazing hotel with lovely grounds and excellent staff. From the moment you check in to the last day of departure you are taken care of by the hotel team. The transfer takes about 45 minutes from the airport. We stayed half board which means that buffet breakfast and buffet dinner are included. The food choices are excellent and they cater for all tastes and dietary needs. There’s enough variety not to get bored of it. You also can have one free dinner at both the Italian Restaurant and the Greek restaurant but you need to book in advance so its best to book at the time of arrival or shortly after. Lunchtime food is limited if you are half board – its either the buffet restaurant at €30 per person, a very basic sandwich from one of the bars or a gyro from the van which is at the far end of the complex with very limited seating. So best tip is to buy some sandwich ingredients from the local supermarket and keep in your fridge. You can also take some fruit from breakfast buffet. The local supermarket is a 10 minute walk from the hotel but be warned that the seemingly quiet road to walk down does in fact have cars, trucks and coaches travelling down it too so keep an eye out. We stayed in a waterfront bungalow which is well worth the extra cost. The bungalow is very modern and well equipped and has a nice balcony and separate sofa. Don’t go for the much higher cost of bungalow with private pool as there is a small pool called Ouzo Pool which is right next to the bungalows and is perfect for a swim. The hotel grounds are beautiful and are perfect for a post dinner walk to see the sunset. Make sure you apply mosquito cream before a sunset walk otherwise you could get bitten. There are a lot of facilities on site. There is a spa offering massages, a shop offering food, toiletries and souvenirs. You are given an excursions guide on arrival which the hotel can book for you. It is also possible to take a local bus to Rethymon and the reception can help with a timetable. If you want your own private transfer to and from the airport, the reception can also organise a taxi for you at €87.00 per journey. There are different pools with their own bars – if you like a lively atmosphere with games there’s the main pool for this but if like us you prefer the peace and quiet, head for the Ouzo Pool which is tranquil and has sunbeds also alongside it with lovely views of the sea. There is also nightly entertainment so check the screens in the lobby to see the schedule for the week. Another tip would be that there is very little signage in the grounds so you will spend you first days trying to work out where everything is. Essentially, with your back to the main pool, the restaurant entrance is on the left side building up some steps, the spa is the circular building in the middle and the Italian and Greek restaurants share the same building on the right side, you’ll see how the seating changes from one side to the other. The Ouzo bar is also completely hidden as it is down some steps from the Ouzo pool so look out for it as it’s a lovely spot to have a drink and admire the sea views. All in all a lovely stay and we will definitely return. A special thanks to all the staff who work very hard to make the guests stay an amazing one.

It would appear that the resort has been renovated to a standard. The rooms don’t have nespresso coffee machines so a disappointing Nescafé sachet was the only option. The ‘games’ room has obviously been a huge after thought, it gives you a glimpse into what the resort used to look like as it appears budget ran out before they got there. The paid for games are not maintained, pay 2EUR for a game of pool and to our surprise 4 balls are released from the machine. The defunct printer that’s just left in the room is just another reminder of what the room is really intended for… junk. The resort also lacks management, rules are rules and if you’re going to have them, they should be enforced. Prolific sunbed reserving is obvious with people rushing to pop towels on beds before breakfast and some only returning to those beds three or four hours later. The no shorts and vests at dinner is totally ignored, again… zero enforcement. Service in the main restaurant is appalling, trying to get a drink is almost impossible and you’re left with a full meal of dirty plates awaiting collection, with little room to move. Staff are also fairly miserable. It’s not all bad though, the established gardens are absolutely beautiful and the beaches are a wonderful space to spend the day.

We chose this hotel very carefully by reading lots of reviews as me it is very important vacation experience. Hotel is very nice, renovated, has great evening programms for kids and adults,I love the entertainers they are brilliant. Unfortunatelly,hotel staff could work better and let me give some examples : the receptionist not the honest person, when I wanted to order mini train, she asked same questions (3 times asked same question about age, travellers),did not listen,mixed information (even on busy moments I believe if you ask question you have to listen the answer), cleaner when cleaned the room swored. On the snack bar when I asked info how to order a meal,young waitress just went out with no word and did not invite anyone from the colleaques to help,on the beach bar waitress after asking alkohol free coctail, started to do coctail with bacardi for my child (my husband had to stop this and explain again that we need alko free coctail), after asking to make capucino we got half glass of it even we were willing to pay for our order. These tiny things are not ok and for this hotel definitelly needs to improve. I would like to recommend for everyone Atrium hotels as their service is just awesome!
