We enjoyed our stay at Grecotel Crete Palace a lot. Wonderful place with a wonderful beach. As to restaurants, Golden Dragon is absolutely a top one. One of the best sushis ever, with the kindest staff ever. Nikos is a great host, Greece can be proud☺️

I really enjoyed staying here. We want to highlight the Golden Dragon restaurant. The food was delicious, the service is great, the waiters are soooo kind. I really recommend this restaurant. :) (Nicos and Marcus the kindest waiters). :))

A most beautiful location and hotel; just perfect for my daughters wedding! From the staff in housekeeping, the restaurants, grounds people, pool attendants, reception, photographer, bar staff - they are all super polite and go out of their way to help with any request you may have! The food is great - hot, well cooked and tasty. They cater for anyone and every one! Children eat free all day, which was great because there were 11 little ones in our party. The hotel and beach are wonderfully clean and the beach bar has great tasting food as well. We only encountered one problem, but I have to make it clear; it was nothing to do with the hotel, it was with the on-site hairdresser. Our experience with her, robbed my daughter of the relaxed time she should have had on the morning of her wedding! Thankfully, the wedding planner had arranged for another hairdresser to assist the owner, as there were 7 little girls, 4 women and my daughter having their done. The person assisting, did mine, my two daughter in-laws and six little ones hair and they were all perfect. My daughter had been quoted 200 euros by the owner, for hair up because she said it would take two hours. We explained what my daughter wanted and showed her photo's. Within 40 minutes, it was finished, but a complete mess - it was uneven on top -high on the right side ( lop sided) and a complete mess at the back! I tried to explain that it wasn't right, so the hairdresser grabbed the veil, showing where it should sit and said once the veil was on, it would be fine. I intervened, by trying to push the lopsided hair to the middle, to show her what I meant, but she slapped my hand and pushed me away, saying 'she has been a hair dresser for many years', throwing the veil onto the floor! I asked her not to push me, said the veil cost a lot of money and picked it up - all she said was "my floor isn't dirty"! My daughter was getting upset, so she got out of the chair and paid her. The person that the wedding planner had arranged to assist the owner, didn't speak English, but looked visibly shocked when she saw my daughter's hair, so I knew we weren't just being picky! I told my daughter to go back to her room and to call the wedding planner and ask her to come to the hairdressers. In the mean time, the owner took my 5 year old granddaughter and started to do her hair. I said we wanted a plait, wound into a bun, like the other six. She started to do her hair, but again, it was a mess, so I asked her to stop - she said "her hair isn't the same as the others, so it can't be done"! I told my granddaughter to get out of the chair and asked the other hair dresser to do it, which she did and it was perfect! In the mean time, the grooms mother came into the hair dressers, to find me in tears explaining everything that had happened to the wedding planner, who by now had arrived! The grooms mother got a blow dry, without even having her hair washed, for 25 euros, but with everything going on and time ticking, she just paid her and left! I asked the wedding planner to ask the other hair dresser, if she would agree to go to my daughters room to do her hair again, which she did. In the mean time, the owner walked across the room, shouting and threw the 200 euros my daughter had paid her, at me! My daughter in-law picked it from the floor, gave it to me and said it was only right that she gave it back. My daughter's hair looked stunning in the end, thanks to the other amazing hairdresser, but sadly she didn't have time to do her make up properly and her eyes were red and puffy from where she had been crying! She had to run to the ceremony from her hotel room, with my husband and the little bridesmaids, because they were over 40 mins late! By the time she got to the roof terrace, she was in a terrible state, but the photographer was amazing - he put his camera down, took both of her hands, told him to look at him and did some deep breathing with her to calm her down and the rest of the day went without a hitch! Apologies for the in-depth account of our experience with the on-site hairdresser, but I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this. I will stress again - this is no reflection on the hotel, it is absolutely amazing and my other daughter is going back next year. Book this hotel - you won't be disappointed!

“Do holidays get any better than this”

Just back from 2 weeks at this wonderful hotel. When royalty choose a hotel to stay at then you know it's good. I've been once before many years ago but if anything it's got better. Arrived early afternoon after sorting our own flights to avoid the Manchester Airport chaos. Lovely welcome with a refreshing drink after a day of chaos. The room wasn't ready so straight down for Lunch while we waited (we hadn't even checked in yet). The usual wide variety of food was on offer. I've seen reviews of this hotel and other similar ones I've been to where they say there isn't much choice. I'm guessing they live on frozen pizza and McDonalds. If you can't find something to eat then I suggest you go and see the doctor and get some help with your food issues. The room (bungalow with garden view) was immaculate. Enough space easliy for 3 people. A bottle of Prosecco on ice, a bottle of red wine and a bottle of white wine in the fridge. Simple but nice touches like the insect repellent plug for the room so you don't have to bring your own. Only small gripe is the number of plugs in the room but an extension lead was brought without fuss. Problem solved. Breakfast has more than enough options for anyone, hot and cold. My son preferred inside for breakfast but the courtyard would be lovely for a nice relaxed breakfast We don't do the beach, the sand is far too hot at this time of year for us. The beach is a beach. Been to several hotels along this stretch of coastline and at the waters edge it's a bit more stoned than sandy. If you are someone who like to be in the sea all day be aware that there are strong currents mainly in the afternoon which means swimming isn't possible. If you want all day sea swimming anywhere along this coast isn't the place for you. Along side the main restaurants there are 2 others - the Golden Dragon which is sushi and steak. It is also a great place for food at lunch with wonderful Greek/ Cretan food. Then there's the Sky bar/ restaurant. We were told incorrectly that this. Was a Mexican/ Peruvian restaurant. Seemed a bit strange for hotel the hotel but went along with it and booked. When we got there it's a far more formal environment than the other restaurants but amazing views over the hotel, coast and up into the hills. This is predominantly a fish restaurant, which makes more sense. We decided it wasn't for us and explained the mix up. They instantly sorted this out and gave us a free meal in the Golden Dragon for the mix up. Beautifully resolved with the minimum of fuss and no arguments about the mix up - we weren't happy so they found a solution. This is the general theme of the hotel staff. The pool is large enough for the size of the hotel. A well enforced policy of removing towels after 1 hour from the beds. Bed joggers weren't happy which was wonderful to see. The staff again dealt with this politely and efficiently. General points people should be aware of: 1. This is a luxury hotel. The prices of food and drink reflect that. If you intend to eat and drink all day make sure you get the comfort package (all inclusive) 2. As previously stated the hotel actively removes towels. If you are one of those selfish people who likes to leave towels on your beds all day, please go somewhere else. The overall sentiment is we had our best holiday ever. That my son wants to go for 4 weeks next year says it all. Thank you to all the staff in this wonderful place. Too many of you have had a massively positive influence on our holiday to name you all. My better half and I are now working out how we can get back to see you all by ourselves in September. We will definitely all see you next year.
