  • Guests at Antica Dimora Suites say: My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights in the middle of August - we arrived quite late after the hotel would usually be locked up (after 11pm) but we were met at the door and given a glass of juice before being shown to our room. We were told that for the first night of our stay we would get an upgrade to one of the bigger rooms (Eratos), as our smaller room wouldn’t be ready until the following night - this was fine by us as it meant we got to spend our first night in a big deluxe suite! The room was decorated in a lovely traditional style and had a nice big balcony which looked out onto the street below. The following day whilst we were out, the hotel staff moved our bags and suitcases to the smaller room, and we collected our new room keys when we returned. We had the room Melpomene for the rest of our stay - although we didn’t have a balcony as we booked the trip quite last minute, we found we were out for most of the day anyway so we didn’t mind! In the late afternoon we sat in the lovely gardens by the pool instead and it was nice and peaceful and cool, with colourful plants and flowers. It was very nice and clean everywhere in the pool/garden area and we were offered complimentary iced tea. The room itself was decorated in traditional style, with fantastic wooden beams in the ceiling above. There was a mini fridge and a tea/coffee tray with a kettle. There was also a large bottle of water per person left in the room each day which we thought was fabulous - we’ve been to lots of places in Greece and never had this before. Air conditioning was also included in the cost which was great, and also uncommon in a Greece. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe/drawer space for storing clothes/luggage out of the way. There were complimentary toiletries, and the towels were changed each day. The breakfast was great, we both really enjoyed what was on offer. I’m a vegetarian but my sister isn’t, and we both had plenty of options. There were lots of different Greek pastries each day as well as different fresh fruit and yoghurt, bread, cake, cereals. There was also a couple of hot foods such as sausages, different kinds of eggs, different vegetables. One morning there were ‘energy balls’ which one of the staff said she had made - I tried the tahini flavour and it was really nice!! The location of the hotel is really good, right in the old town and very easy to walk to the different sights - the beach was about 15 minutes walk, the fortress the same but in the other direction. There’s lots of bars/restaurants/cafes/shops all around. We both really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were all really friendly and helpful, and everywhere was clean and tastefully decorated. We would definitely recommend to others visiting Rethymno.
