My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights in the middle of August - we arrived quite late after the hotel would usually be locked up (after 11pm) but we were met at the door and given a glass of juice before being shown to our room. We were told that for the first night of our stay we would get an upgrade to one of the bigger rooms (Eratos), as our smaller room wouldn’t be ready until the following night - this was fine by us as it meant we got to spend our first night in a big deluxe suite! The room was decorated in a lovely traditional style and had a nice big balcony which looked out onto the street below. The following day whilst we were out, the hotel staff moved our bags and suitcases to the smaller room, and we collected our new room keys when we returned. We had the room Melpomene for the rest of our stay - although we didn’t have a balcony as we booked the trip quite last minute, we found we were out for most of the day anyway so we didn’t mind! In the late afternoon we sat in the lovely gardens by the pool instead and it was nice and peaceful and cool, with colourful plants and flowers. It was very nice and clean everywhere in the pool/garden area and we were offered complimentary iced tea. The room itself was decorated in traditional style, with fantastic wooden beams in the ceiling above. There was a mini fridge and a tea/coffee tray with a kettle. There was also a large bottle of water per person left in the room each day which we thought was fabulous - we’ve been to lots of places in Greece and never had this before. Air conditioning was also included in the cost which was great, and also uncommon in a Greece. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of wardrobe/drawer space for storing clothes/luggage out of the way. There were complimentary toiletries, and the towels were changed each day. The breakfast was great, we both really enjoyed what was on offer. I’m a vegetarian but my sister isn’t, and we both had plenty of options. There were lots of different Greek pastries each day as well as different fresh fruit and yoghurt, bread, cake, cereals. There was also a couple of hot foods such as sausages, different kinds of eggs, different vegetables. One morning there were ‘energy balls’ which one of the staff said she had made - I tried the tahini flavour and it was really nice!! The location of the hotel is really good, right in the old town and very easy to walk to the different sights - the beach was about 15 minutes walk, the fortress the same but in the other direction. There’s lots of bars/restaurants/cafes/shops all around. We both really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were all really friendly and helpful, and everywhere was clean and tastefully decorated. We would definitely recommend to others visiting Rethymno.

My daughter and I arrived very tired after a very delayed flight in the early hours of the morning. The hotel was closed and locked up but they had arranged someone to meet us with a key and show us to our room, great service and huge relief. Unfortunately although the room was lovely it wasn’t the room I had booked ( no balcony) On meeting Alexandra at breakfast, she explained that there had been a double booking but we would be moving to another room. by the time we came back from the beach all our luggage had been moved to our new room and wow it was fabulous, a gorgeous large balcony with views across the city, 4 poster bed and walk in large shower. Also complimentary bottle of wine and fresh fruit. The hotel is in a great location, we loved the old town and its winding streets and fabulous restaurants. 15 mins walk to nearest beach. The pool is small but great for a dip to cool off with comfortable sunbeds and complimentary iced tea. We used the bus to visit Georgioupolis which was beautifull with a great beach. Thanks again to Alexandria for all her recommendations and for organising our trip to spinalonga, somewhere I have always wanted to visit after reading The Island, definitely worth a visit. Also thanks to Marcus for looking after us and keeping us supplied with ice for our G and Ts This hotel is a great find, made even more special by its great staff who can’t do enough for you. We spent a week at this beautiful, small hotel and had a wonderful time. Our room overlooked the pool and was well appointed and kept spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning was a real blessing. The staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The buffet breakfasts were varied and plentiful with a large selection of items including meats,cheeses, cooked eggs,fruit and the most amazing greek pastries. The location is ideal for exploring the Old Town and I would highly recommend this hotel. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable.
