Just returned to Norway after our second visit at Folia this summer. As always,a perfect stay at this wonderful, familyrun hotel. Nikos and Giannis are fantastic hosts and very helpful of all kind of questions you may have. Its location, only 5 min walk from the mainstreet, is perfect. It is so quiet and peaceful. “Amazing hotel”

Where do we start, this hotel is a must if you are visiting Crete. The two brothers Giannis and Nikos are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and so quaint. Where do we start, this hotel is a must if you are visiting Crete. The two brothers Giannis and Nikos are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and so quaint. We didn’t have the breakfast as we don’t eat until later but it looked delicious. We went to the beach every day which was only around a 10 minute walk. We sat around the pool on our last day as we had to vacate the room by 1.30pm (we paid a bit extra for this) and the pool area was so clean and quiet. The weather was gorgeous and the pool area was like a sun trap, the pool its self was spotless. The restaurant’s in the surrounding area are beautiful and the food lovely. If we ever go back to Crete we would 100% stay here again.

Second time at this wonderful, family run, adult-only hotel, set perhaps 400 yards from the Agia Marina beach! 🏖️ Remembered and welcomed back by the gracious, helpful and friendly owners and family staff. We were made to feel at home on our first day (after arriving around 1 a.m. that morning). Our room was advised and noted at reception, and ready and waiting when we finally hauled ourselves to bed 😉 Just as we remembered it ♥️... Beautiful room with large fluffy double bed, seating area inside and balcony overlooking the pool and the inviting sea and coastline... Blessed to have room 11 which must have had 'the best' views. Clean and tidy throughout, nice bathroom with overhead shower and adjustable showerhead. Hot and adjustable water, complementary shower gels and soaps if we needed them. Air con and TV thought we didn't need these, using the windows (beautiful arched side window) and fully venting/ tilt patio door to the front. Cutlery, crockery, plates, wineglasses, bottle opener, hairdryer included as standard. Table and 2 chairs on the balcony, again, spotless! Kettle for tea, and filter coffee maker! Bliss! 😲♥️ Bedroom was tidied almost every day and bed linen and towels changed every other day. We went with breakfast included - delicious choice of cooked and continental breakfast, yogurts and fruit, tea, coffee and juice. Toast, croissants and confections. We never went wanting and the kitchen staff were there to advise and help! A choice of poolside tables or mezzanine balcony overlooking the see and Agiol Theodore island and 'calm as glass' sea. A good selection of Snacks, meals, beverages and drinks at the poolside bar., which we used for a light lunch if hungry from the previous evening's meal. Take a trip down to the first road then left to the Agia Marina 'Old Town' with a great selection of Tavernas and Restaurants. Our garden table at the Horiatiko became a fave, though we also enjoyed The Roka and Neraida here too. Delicious traditional Greek fayre at these family owned establishments. Chicken Souvlaki, Sea Break, Shrimp (Prawns 😉) and Salads is truly amazing, and be prepared to complementary, Raki, or Ouzo and cake at the end. The old town is only half a mile there, and reasonably flat for the most part with a perhaps 15 yard drop to the lower road. Trios to Chania and the old town, twice, on the bus. 2 Euros per person each way from the main upper road, bus stops not far away! Chania is about 11 mins and the bus can be quite busy, be warned. 1st time 2 buses were too full to stop so we Taxi shared (not far from the bus stop) at £18. Bus station is in the centre so no problem coming back! Explore the harbour part, and we discovered another bay further east with nice restaurants (great light snacks at the Sandbar there! Day trip to Kolymbari to the west is a mist with nice beach, clear waters safeguarded with rocky barriers, and swimming with fish! Spend 19 Euros at the restaurants and you have sunbeds and straw parasols for free. Check out the local shops and ceramic ware!!! We took a bus west to Palantias on our last day 2 Euros and around 3km. We actually walked back along the strip and depending Ng on your speed it's 35 to 60 mins checking out the shops and avoiding the heat. Nice to have a drink and light meal (tsatsiki and omelette) at Nikos' on the beach. There is lots more to see and do! We didn't hire a car though you can do this and travel further afield. Many other beaches (pink sand!) about 1.5 to 2 hours away... Perhaps next time. We are truly blessed to have found the Folia apartments, gracious people and reasonably priced. I doubt that we would go anywhere else and look forward to coming back next year! Yiamas!
