This tranquil, beautiful holiday destination near Hersonissos, Crete, offers the perfect escape from the rush of everyday life. From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by peace and calm. The location feels like a well-kept secret, with serene surroundings and gorgeous hot weather—even in October, when other destinations might cool off, Crete remains a sun-soaked paradise. One of the standout features of Kreta Natur is how welcoming and inclusive it is, regardless of background. Although the majority of guests are straight, my boyfriend and I, as a gay couple, felt completely at ease and fully embraced by both the staff and fellow guests. The relaxed, open atmosphere allows everyone to enjoy their stay and be themselves, making inclusivity naturally part of the experience. This family-run retreat is managed by the incredibly kind and attentive George and Maria, who truly go above and beyond to make sure every guest’s stay is perfect. Their warmth and hospitality make you feel more like a treasured family friend than a guest. And then, of course, there’s Bill, the resident chef. If you enjoy local cuisine, you’re in for a treat. Bill is a master of Cretan cooking, offering up fresh, delicious dishes that are tailored to your preferences. His passion for food is evident in every meal, and his willingness to accommodate individual tastes is something rarely found in a hotel setting. At the bar in the evenings, Nico takes the experience to the next level. He’s a truly remarkable young man, ensuring your glass is always full while providing the kind of genuine, engaging service that makes you feel like an old friend. Nico takes immense pride in making sure guests are happy, and his lively yet relaxed personality is contagious. He’s truly a highlight of the stay, and late-night drinks around the pool wouldn’t be the same without him. The pool area itself is divine—never crowded, peaceful, with incredibly comfortable loungers. It’s never overlooked, ensuring your experience remains private and relaxing. You’re also just a short stroll away from the beach, local shops like Spar, and excellent restaurants, giving you the perfect balance between relaxation and access to amenities. For those who prefer self-catering, Lidl is just around the corner, and both the charming square of old Hersonissos and the seafront restaurants in Hersonissos are easily accessible, offering plenty of options to dine out or enjoy a quiet night in. With only around a dozen rooms, this intimate setting maintains a family feel. We stayed in the suite, which was absolutely gorgeous, complete with a private terrace and a hot tub, adding that extra touch of luxury to the stay. This was our second visit, and we met many others who were also return visitors—a testament to just how special this place is. It’s a wonderful space to meet new people if you wish, and the late-night socializing around the pool often leads to new friendships, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. Kreta Natur is a place that feels like home, and whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, you’ll be treated like family. We can’t wait to return for another relaxing and welcoming stay.

We have just spent a lovely week relaxing at Kreta Natur and will love to go back! On arrival at 2.30am, Nick was there to greet us with a friendly smile and showed us to our Suite. We are a family of two adults and two children, 12 & 9. We were advised when booking that the suite may be a little tight for 4 but as it comes with its own private terrace with room to eat and sunbath we decided to risk it. There was a double bed and double sofa bed which the children shared, this was a bit small due to their ages, probably best for one or two if younger. The suite was lovely and clean with a small kitchen and a bathroom with shower. We woke the next day and headed straight to the pool and bar where we where met by the owners, George and Maria who welcomed us. Throughout the stay they were always around ready to offer anything we needed and recommend local places to visit. At the bar we met Billy who makes the most fantastic Greek coffees and Greek bread, which is home made and I was lucky enough to be given a free cooking lesson! Billy is also the chef and his food is cooked fresh daily and is so good, it was honestly some of the best food we have eaten. We had fresh meatballs with homemade chips, potatoes, rice and Greek salad, followed by the most amazing Greek yogurt with black cherries. The pool is lovely and clean, with sunbeds always available. Its close to the bar and Billy, Nick or Jenna were always ready to serve you. Nick makes the best cocktails, there is no menu so he makes them on request or surprises you with one of his specials. We spent most nights trying them. The room was cleaned daily by Rosa and the towels and bedding are changed every other day which was just right. The whole site is clean and the gardens/pool area have some lovely touches which make the place unique, some designed by George himself! The area is rural so its worth hiring a car, we visited Spinalonga, and then drove through Elounda to Kolokitha Beach which is definitely worth a visit but go early or late as the roads are very narrow and it can get busy and hard to drive along, when you park at the top, there is a walk down the hill to the beach. We then drove to Agios Nikolas for some food and a walk around, we found the best restaurant with the most amazing apple jam, Se-Meli. We (5 of us across 2 rooms) spent 10 nights here and had the best time. The owners George and Maria, and staff Bill, Nick and Rosa are very nice people- they really made us feel welcome and comfortable like we were at home- anything we wanted or needed they would do their best to help us. Bill and Nick were especially kind to my three children who are 16, 13 and 11 they really looked out for them which put us at ease- they also joined in when we played games in the pool which was great. I really can’t thank them enough they made our holiday. The location is quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle of a busy city- there are some nice beaches and restaurants in walking distance- Sarandaris beach is lovely- Ya seafood is a great place to eat. However, be warned if you do walk anywhere there will be big hills to walk up on the way back. The apartments are clean, well kept and have everything you need for your stay. Rosa cleans the rooms every day bless her- she works so hard in the heat. The gardens and pool area are also very clean and well kept and there are many sunbeds- which were always available as the pool area never really got busy. Bill is a great cook- the first night he prepared us a meal of roast chicken, potatoes, rice and salad and it was delicious. Nick is a great host and he makes the best cold coffees and cocktails. I would recommend hiring a car- We hired a car for our trip so it was easy to get around and visit other areas of Crete- there’s so many beautiful places- Agia Pelagia beach, Kato Gouves, Agios Nicolaos Overall we had an amazing time at Kreta Natur, if you are looking for a quiet relaxing break away I would recommend coming here.
