As always left to my wife to book nearly thirty years since I visited Crete . Amazed whe dropped off , cleanliness , friendliness and all at 130 am . Room spotless , breakfast enough to have a different style every day for a week . Clearly made the effort to cater for Brits . Beautiful poolside a few early risers to grab a sunbed but plenty and very very comfy double beanbag beds as well as traditional sun loungers and huge four posters that allow for strategic positioning of a square sheet, vertical , horizontal whatever you want

“Couples holiday ”

Weeks holiday at the village, overall nice time. We had a studio it was very compact. Only 1 window so a bit dark and balcony was out the front door. Bathroom small, hairdryer old fashioned. Weeks holiday at the village, overall nice time. We had a studio it was very compact. Only 1 window so a bit dark and balcony was out the front door. Bathroom small, hairdryer old fashioned. Upside pool and sunbeds area beautiful, breakfast and food fab, staff were all friendly and very helpful. Walking distance to local restaurants, 20 min walk to Hersoniss.

“Hit and Miss.....”

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Asterias Village, self catering. We were taken to our one bedroom apartment, very dated, but exceptionally clean. We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Asterias Village, self catering. We were taken to our one bedroom apartment, very dated, but exceptionally clean. We found our balcony a bit 'sad', no view as such just looked at others front doors and roofs and extremely close to others, no privacy at all. Ok, so bed huge and extremely comfortable, air con very efficient and plenty of space, but bathroom old and tired. I dreaded having a shower every day, unable to amend the height and felt like needles due to the power and it's a step in the bath type. Cleaner would insist on knocking on the door at around 9am every day, and if told to give us more time had a bit of an attitude. No 'do not disturb signs' given. Some bath towels had dirty marks on, didn't know until about to use them, so a bit unpleasant and too late to complain when you're stood dripping in the shower. On a positive note, the pool area is lovely, bar snacks are delicious and great value for money and the staff are friendly and polite. This hotel/apartments are in a fabulous location for all of the restaurants/tavernas which are excellent. The chap in the supermarket across the road is great and will help you with anything you need. If you do book this hotel, my recommendation would be to get the best room you can as we were disappointed and would not stay here again. BTW, didn't ask for a change of room as the place appeared full, and speaking with other guests who were about to leave, they were not allowed to keep on their room as hotel was full.

“Party, Noisy Guests -”

Hotel is located in an excellent position for the 2 villages, just inside Koutouloufari and straight into Piskopiano where there are plenty places to eat of good quality including shops for provisions, not all were open as just at start of season. Hotel offers free mini bus from top of stairs into Hersonissos resort, 3 times a day. Arrival – booked with Jet 2, dropped off at top of stairs, next to restaurant (this is where you will eat your evening meal if booked half board), leave luggage here, hotel will take it to your room, by van. One of 2 ways down to reception, yes very steep, some rooms located either side of steps, limited privacy, can be noisy, overlooked by restaurant, late/dearly arrivals/departures, general footfall. Parking opposite hotel, or on road, or at bottom of hotel, if parking inside hotel, some cars stalled when coming up bank, be aware if using this to leave hotel if on foot, there are some steps. Pay up front for safety deposit located in room 2 Euros a day, and room tax 7 Euros per room a day ( personally do not think the hotel warrants 4 star rating, also effects tax price). Others have already commented on rating being too high. Staff are pleasant. Room Cleaned every day very basic clean, bedding towels changed every second day. Rooms spread out in blocks, if you get one near the top of road, you don’t have to deal with steep decline unless using bar/reception (which has library to leave/take books, rep’s board and information books, Jet2 rep did visit), pool, or looking at small church next to pool. Rooms are noisy, can hear neighbours, be aware of this, already mentioned. Food Breakfast all buffet, not best quality food, plenty of choice, including fresh fruit, not fresh juice, served next to bar. Evening meal choose from Al-la carte menu same as offered to passing customers, service slow even when restaurant is empty, you get starter, main course and dessert, not a large amount of choice, fine for 7 days, but any longer could be a bit repetitive, it is good value if upgrading to half board from self catering. Did not buy drink at bar, restaurant prices not too bad. While it was term time for schools, there were still more school age children of different nationalities at hotel, another thing to be mindful of if trying to get away when the children are supposed to be back at school. Issues Noise from other guests, included damage to rooms, hotel and private property in and around hotel. Hotel said was one off, but happened again on second week, and they were not British. While there were apologies from staff, they acknowledged that there were several complaints, already made, what we would call ant-social behaviour in the UK. Jumping in pool, in middle of night leaving a mess, damage, drunken behaviour, noise, loud music, throwing rubbish around, gathering around one room to party, kicking footballs around, encroaching on other people’s balconies, but they were allowed to stay. The second incident was partying on the balcony next to us, and we ended up having discarded cans thrown on our balcony, again they were allowed to stay, messed up the room, and as a parting gesture decided to graffiti parts of the hotel, and neighbouring properties outside. For a hotel that claims to be family oriented they let a lot of bookings be made what hoteliers used to pick up as stag or hen bookings, sleep all day party all night, and refuse as it was not worth the problems, damage, impact on other guests. Is it worth upsetting other guests, and the costs involve in extra cleaning and repairs? Despite the warm hospitality of staff, we are very doubtful we would go back, the hotel is away from the party scenes of Hersonissos and Malia, being on a hill, of 3 villages, sadly it does suffer from this type of clientele. We were offered a move to another room, but meant at bottom of complex, and rather dark, mentioned by other guests regarding this type of room, this was after the first incident of noise. There were reassurances of this being a one off, it was not. Why should we move? It is a shame as the hotel is situated in a very good location.
