“Excellent”

I Spent two nights there last week. Very clean, comfortable, friendly, generous and helpful staff, and the location is perfect . The view from my balcony on the sixth floor was amazing. I will no doubt revisit the place.

The location is perfect for the archaeological museum, bus station and port, but disturbed by aircraft noise. There are no noisy bars or clubs nearby. The rooms lack hanging and storage space. In the three rooms we were in on this trip, we only had a suitcase rack once and two bedside tables twice. I hate the lack of bedside lights, finding the ceiling spotlights harsh. The aircon is a bit fierce. As electricity is limited to time spent in the room, I suggest leaving windows open & curtains drawn when out. Some of the staff are excellent , others less so. We had probs with arranging a late checkout on our last night (essential for a late evening departure from the airport) though there had been no probs last year, and though we had requested it on arrival, ie two weeks before. The breakfast is OK, but would be improved by having decent coffee and proper juice. Tomatoes lose all their flavour when chilled. Yoghurt and honey were good though. There is a luggage room complete with scales, but I would be loath to store autumn coats there to be picked up on our return, the way we used to do years ago in our original Heraklion hotel. Nor do I feel the Irini would be able to retrieve the bag we left in the airport taxi, the way that was done for us in Oct 1990. That was real Cretan hospitality.!
