The staff are lovely, food great at breakfast and you can eat outside overlooking the sea. The whole place has high standards with a relaxed, chilled out vibe. We would love to return!!

“Perfect for a relaxing holiday”

Me and my partner (both in our 20s) stayed at The island hotel in May 2024. We throughly enjoyed our visit here, and would recommend this to people looking for a more quiet and relaxing break away. Food/restaurants: we stayed half board meaning we had access to the M kitchen (buffet) every morning and evening. • The breakfast was a range between cooked foods, fruits/veg, bread/pastries and plenty granola options. Fruit juices,water, coffee and tea are also served free of charge. • The dinner time buffet was also filled with different foods each night following a theme this included Greek, Mediterranean, Asian and many more between the 7 days. Along with this they always have a pizza station with different pizza/garlic bread every evening. Fresh bread available at dinner time as-well. Along with dinner came deserts, there was plenty of options from fruit, yogurts, smoothies, cakes and pastry’s. Although with dinner there are no drinks served with half board, so even water you will need to pay for unlike breakfast. Pools/spa facilities: we went to all three pools in the facility. • Our favourite pool was the pool by the Tholos bar, they played music from around lunch time meaning you were able to talk and chat around the pool and also play card games. • The other 2 pools did not appeal to us as they were extremely quiet and definitely made for those who would like to relax without talking. •spa facilities were offered onsite, with some days being at a discounted price, we never used the spa facilities. Cleaners/staff: • The cleaners and staff here were helpful and polite throughout our time here, the cleaners would come between 9am-11am so if you are someone who likes a lay in I would double check your door is locked otherwise they will just walk in However the rooms were always clean upon arriving back at our hotel room. A nice touch was a bottle of water given everyday by the cleaners. • it is important to note that the hotel is very big and you will need to follow the map to find where your room is however the hotel staff were helpful and showed us to our room and even brining our cases up the stairs. Air-con: • our Air-con was amazing throughout our stay, the lowest temperature is 16 degrees and it worked well to keep the room cool. Please note the Air-con will not work with the balcony door open or ajar. Shop/mini market: • within the facility there is a little shop that contains all the necessities such as snacks, drinks, ice cream, souvenirs, bags, purses, sun cream. The people working in there were welcoming and polite every time we visited. Location: • The hotel is located on the beach front which is absolutely lovely, if you are tired of the pools then you can cross the main road over to the Beach. However the Hotel is located 20 minutes away from the airport, if yous re a light sleeper I would not recommend this hotel for you. Every 30 minutes throughout the day and night there will be planes flying over the hotel. There are a few shops and restaurants around the hotel but no major strip or build up of shops. • It is only 20 minutes from the main city of Heraklion, any Taxi will cost you €30-40 euro there and back, which is good to keep in mind as the airport is in Heraklion. Sun beds: • Whilst we did witness the sun beds being cleaned of an evening, they were all covered in sand/dirt. We used the double bed sun loungers around the main pool, whilst the lay out is nice around the double loungers is water. Most of the time this water was filled with dead bugs or bottles which is not something you wish to have to put your feet in to get to the loungers. 2 beach towels are provided by the hotel I would recommend laying on these and using the loungers at the front so you don’t have to put your feet in the dirty water. • you will have no problem finding a sun bed, we went to the pool at different times everyday and there were multiple available. Dress code: •Within the main restaurant there is a smart casual dress code however this is not followed very closely for anyone worried about this my partner wore his swimming shorts to the restaurant twice in the morning, I wore a cover up for my swimwear. • The first night we arrived for our meal for dinner, to find the table next to us was wearing a hoodie and jogger shorts, throughout the stay we kept an eye on how closely this is followed to find that people were in-fact wearing football shirts,hoodies and swimwear all stuff that is recommended you not to wear. So I would not worry about the dress code too much, although my partner always wore a shirt whilst attending breakfast and dinner. Rooms: • we had a double room with a balcony on the second floor, the room was pretty modern with a shower or bath facilities. The room is pretty open planned so I wouldn’t recommend coming here as a family, as from the bedrooms you can see straight into the shower. The beds were very big and comfy. The Tv only has one channel in English and that is the news. Toilet area was clean and also cleaned everyday with the bin in the bathroom being emptied. •Small fridge and safe included in the rooms, if you want to put anything in the fridge you will need to take the middle shelf out as it is tiny. • wardrobe needs more hangers, ours only had 8 and for a couple that was staying 7 nights this was certainly not enough. The wardrobe itself was spacious and could fit loads in providing the hangers were provided. Room Tax: Room tax was €10 per night, making it €70 upon arrival. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Island Hotel and will be recommending to people in the future.

The hotel is lovely. Good location, good amenities. Clean, modern. Our room was lovely and didn’t have any complaints. The beds are super comfortable. We got our room cleaned every other day and it was always fab. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We did the stretching and Pilates sessions while we stayed and the instructor was amazing! Super friendly and would cater to all experiences. We had couple massages twice at the bath house and amazing. The only downside I would say is that going half board you have to buy drinks with your evening meal even bottle water which is €3.50 when you could go get a bottle for €1 at the shop. The evening meals weren’t up to 5 star par in my opinion. Other than that we came at mid/end of May and it wasn’t too busy. Was easy to get a sunbed and the beach is literally across the road and can be viewed from the hotel. It’s a nice beach and the sand is lovely and fine. It can get hotel so wear sandals when you walk over. Our experience has been amazing!
