This was my second time staying at Tasmania Village and my first solo trip. I arrived at 2:30am made my way to the reception to find out my room number and then onto my room (25) which was a little further up the hill. My room was clean and a great location within the complex, with a spectacular view. In the morning I woke up to the most beautiful view, I was lucky enough to see the amazing sunrise for the rest of my week stay. When I made my way to reception on the first day I was greeted by Maria and Yannis, they were so welcoming and such hospitable hosts. The atmosphere around the complex was lovely and very relaxing and depite being on my own I still spoke to some of the other guests and didn't feel awkward. The walk into Elounda is about 20-25 minutes and even coming back to the hotel, after my evening meal, on my own I felt perfectly safe. There are plenty of restaurants, reasonably priced with a range of foods in Elounda. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and chats with Maria, George, Yannis and their family who visited. It felt more personal than their neighbouring 5* hotels - who I will mention occasionally play loud music till 11pm, depending on your music taste you may be ok with this. If you have mobility issues then you may wish to consider staying elsewhere as the reception is on a steep incline. Otherwise I would wholeheartedly recommend staying in this family run hotel!

Tasmania trip advisor Wow where do I start.. Firstly before we travelled and chose Tasmania Village we read up on the place and researched the reviews written by others that had visited..Clearly some complainers didn’t and complained about ridiculous things such as” Not a Sea View” , “Too Steep hills” etc so let me put those comments to bed first.. Elounda Bay is an area of natural beauty and the views from Tassie (Tasmania Village) are stunning and for that type of view you will need to climb steps or a hill to see it. If you are less able to then this wonderful place may not be for you but there is a 5 star hotel down the road a little with Funiculars and a lift that might be more appropriate but expect to pay 10-15k for a 2 week holiday. Also we noted the big difference between these 5* Hotels in comparison to Tassie where it wasn’t a typical Greek holiday experience and you could go anywhere in the world and have the same insular isolated break that may float your boat. With Tasmania we were greeted with a fabulous Family welcome (16:30) by the Amazing Maria, and Yanni, and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt at home and looked after like mums look after their family. The feeling of community with most guests interacting and saying polite good mornings and evenings and hello’s added to the village feeling of community. This is also why so many people go back year on year and sometimes multiple times. I loved my Morning Greek Coffee and chats with Maria and Yanni and the ability to always get a sunbed unlike the 5 am get up and put your towel down brigade that doesn’t exist there. The rooms are clean and if you want air conditioning and a safe then you can hire these if you wish. There is a small room tax set by the Greek government which you have to pay which was not expensive. The pool is kept spotless by Engineer George :) the Teacher ( I’ll let him tell you when you meet him he’s a lovely man and Maria’s husband) if anything goes wrong, George or Yanni can fix it. The cafe offers food all day from 9am till midnight from snacks to full meals and was fabulous. We ate all our meals there because our son has a severe nut allergy and Maria and team clean the grills after every cooked meal and there are NO nuts! This put our mind at rest as a number of restaurants in both Agios Nicholous and Elounda said they can’t clean their grills for 1 person when they are serving others so that limited our choice but Maria put our minds to rest and we enjoyed lovely prepared food every day. I could write even more but I wanted to keep our review to less than a million words. So it is with a heartfelt thank you to ,Maria, Yanni , George and Bo the cleaner a HUUGE thank you for your hospitality and now friendship and making us feel so welcome and part of your beautiful family. We will be back… Efharisto and much love from the Pendleton’s… May not be a 5 star rated hotel but it has a 5 star rating for hospitality, welcoming and views..

“Perfect holiday!”

My husband, daughter(19), son(16) and I have just returned from the most perfect holiday at Tasmania Village. We stayed for two weeks but I wish that it could have been two months! I have never felt so welcomed on holiday before. Maria and her family are just gorgeous. We got to know Maria, George, Giannis and the rest of their beautiful family so well that we actually felt very emotional saying goodbye. A particularly thoughtful, parting gift which we will treasure was a large shell from George which he had dived down for on a recent fishing trip. We stayed in apartment 34, at the top of the hill, and although it was a steep climb it was worth every step for the breathtaking views. They literally took your breath away every morning when you stepped out on to the balcony. The apartment was beautifully clean, airy and we honestly didn’t see a single mosquito our entire holiday. Elounda is gorgeous and a lovely 20 minute walk away along the water. At Tasmania Village, the pool area is immaculate with the stunning views surrounding it and the pool is perfectly designed with a large shallow area for young children as well as perfect for adults to sit and relax in and a good sized deep area for swimming and diving down etc. The pool area has a lovely, chilled out feel with absolutely no racing for sun loungers needed. There are always plenty of loungers to go around whenever you arrive. The snack bar has a brilliant array of refreshing, affordable drinks and delicious, home-made food by Maria and Giannis. My son could not get enough of the ‘burger with the lot’! We hired a car for four days which was super easy as Maria rang up for a quote and the guy was at the apartments with the car within half an hour and that day was complimentary. We visited lots of fabulous beaches such as Vai and Almyros and pretty, traditional villages and towns such as Kritsa, Mochlos and Agios Nikolaos. We loved every minute. The whole holiday was just perfect. Thank you so much to Maria, George, Giannis and family. We will definitely be back and we recommend Tasmania Village 100%.
