“Wonderful Holiday.”

It was a wonderful holiday. The performance largely corresponds to the price. I would also like to highlight the staff at the spa. Kostas has magic hands. The area is very nice and the approach from the airport acceptable. Employees and gastronomy are particularly positive.

“Amazing holiday - in my top 3 destinations”

This was my first time to Crete. The hotel is about an hours drive from the airport mostly along the coast with some spectacular views. I had a taxi arranged by TUI so I was at the hotel within an hour and half from landing. On arrival the staff were inviting and efficient. I upgraded to a large room with my own pool on the ocean front. A lovely gentleman drove me down in a golf buggy to my room and explained everything to me. This property is set on a hill so lots of inclines and steps. I have a few mobility issues but managed the walk up and down fine. I was told any time I wanted a lift just to ring Reception. The Food - The buffet is amazing and I certainly didn’t go hungry. The waiting staff were attentive and so lovely. I tried a couple of restaurants but enjoyed the buffet the most. I travel alone so feel less inconspicuous and I don’t have to answer the question “only you?”. The Room - In the newer building right on the ocean front - paradise. On arrival a bottle of sparkling wine, bottle of rose, fruit, flowers and lots of water. Minibar with soft drinks replenished daily without charge. Large fridge, very comfy bed with choice of pillows. Bathroom supplied lots of towels, body wash, shampoo, body lotion etc. There was a comfy settee for lounging. The air con was great a must as it was very hot. The room was cleaned daily. Loungers, chairs on the terrace and own infinity pool. I chose the larger room with smaller pool but adequate to swim in (no 11). Next door (12) smaller room with larger pool to do lengths. Mimimart - prices reasonable. Large selection of drinks, snacks, fresh milk if you like your cuppa in the room and touristy buys. All inclusive- beware not everything is included. Buffet is free but at each of the restaurants only items with a house against them are included. Everything else comes at a price. Not all drinks are included either. Entertainment - I didn’t really feed into this but I could see lots going on through the TUI Blue app where you can book activities and restaurants. The island - the area around Mirabello Bay is stunning but it can be very windy. It’s actually very welcoming to cool down but can cause chaos if eating outside. It’s like being in front of a warm hairdryer. I chose two TUI excursions, one an all day trip to Spinalonga, Elounda and St Niks. It was an amazing day out with lunch on the sea front. If you have read Victoria Hislop’s book the Island this really brings it to life. The second trip was a 4x4 trip into the mountains. Being of a certain age I asked for the “comfy” vehicle and it was well worth it with air con. Our driver Tassis was lovely and a fountain of knowledge. It does go off road so it did rattle the old bones even in the comfy vehicle. I will definitely return to Elounda Village, the hotel, staff and Crete are now in my top 3 favourite places.
