Me and my sister stayed at nireas hotel from 30th August till 9th September 2024 and absolutely loved it! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (and they have a cute dog)! The apartments was beautiful, modern and comfortable. Air con was brilliant, pool was lovely and perfect temperature. The beds were comfortable and it was a lovely quiet atmosphere where everyone could talk to eachother around the poolside. I would 100% recommend staying here and I will most definitely be coming back myself! 5 stars to nireas hotel!

“Quiet hotel, great location”

My son and I. Had a fantastic week at the Nireas. 1 bedroom apartment was very roomy with an enormous outside terrace. We were at the end on the ground floor with no passing traffic and no one to overlook, so totally private. Apartment was clean - and cleaning ladies did a great and unobtrusive job of keeping it that way. I found the owner very friendly and responsive. I texted him with an issue with our lock and he was there in less than a minute! We only met the owners dog once which we were disappointed about as we were missing our own, but it did mean that nireas would be totally fine for those who don’t like dogs. Pool was big and clean, always able to get sun beds. Air con was very effective and worth every penny. Kitchen tiny but perfectly adequate and it had a kettle and big mugs, microwave, crockery and a couple of saucepans. Fine for us. Hotel was very quiet, as the reviews say, and Kato Daratso similarly so. We found that almost everyone seems to head for the beach in the evening, wish we’d realised sooner. We always went for the middle beach which was beautiful. No issue for us getting sun beds, the guy put out more for us. We were by the fantastic beach cafe to the left looking at the sea. Back to the hotel, liked the mini supermarket opposite, lots there and it was always rewarding getting a smile out of the owner! But there are mini markets all along the main road and two enormous supermarkets just past the bmw garage (walk down to the main road and turn right). Only a 10 minute walk, and gave great options for self-catering. Loads of restaurants locally, we especially liked the ones nearer to the beach although we had our best and cheapest meals in chania. 21 bus is amazing. Reliable, air conditioned and quick. Turn right at the main road to the stop opposite the bmw garage to use the ticket machine which gives you €1.20 tickets into town, cheaper than buying on the bus. In Chania, recommend the morning food tour with Christos, also the archaeological museum which is amazing. Also went to elafonissi beach on a tour which was a great tour but such a busy beach so I wouldn’t recommend in the school holidays. Fabulous holiday here. So much to do and we only scratched the surface. We never go anywhere twice but I’m already booked to come next year. Thanks to everyone at Nireas!

**Revised Review:** This place was great. The rooms were very clean and well-maintained. It was quiet around the property, which created a relaxing vibe. We visited with kids and other couples, and while we played music on the speaker, no one seemed to mind. Just don't expect much activity around the pool area. There's a bit of a hill from the main road to the apartments, but you get used to it. You have to pay extra for air conditioning, but it's absolutely worth it. The weather was very hot, and walking into a cool room was a relief. I've seen other reviews mentioning the owner. While he's friendly and helpful, he's not always around, so sometimes you need to find him or text if you want a beer from the bar or some food. Although somewhat true, this didn't negatively affect our stay, he was available when needed and always happy to help out, he even sorted us transfer to the water park (definitely worth doing). When we spoke to him, he explained that he handles everything himself and often struggles to find staff during the busy season. He was great with the kids and did an amazing job overall. This laidback vibe seems common in the area, as most bars and restaurants also have minimal staff. There are plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance, though we didn't find much in the way of entertainment. You can take the 21 bus to Chania town for just €2 if you're looking for more atmosphere. The beach is also within walking distance, but most of the sunbeds were reserved for adult-only hotels. We did find a bar with umbrellas, though. Be sure to bring plenty of mosquito repellent and bite soothers, as we all got bitten a lot. The local chemist sells a very good one for around €8. Overall, I would recommend this place for couples or families.

Really impressed by the apartment we stayed in and the level of service provided by the owner and staff. We arrived really late after missed flights and a long delay, although the reception was closed the owner had left a note on the door with very clear instructions how to find the apartment. The apartment itself was quite spacious and looked as though it had been updated recently with everything we needed, the grounds were spotless as was the apartment, the service lady came every day and there was always fresh towels, bedding and she did a super job each time. We opted for breakfast on a couple of occasions which was quite reasonable with a buffet style selection, lots of fresh fruit, eggs, omelette, greek sausage, coffee, juice ect. Although the setting was just off the main road, the complex was really quiet and relaxing with good quality sleep. Location was good for main bus route to Chania, shops and restaurants on doorstep. About 10min walk to a lovely beach. I would definitely recommend.
