“cool place to rest and enjoy”

Great place. Had a lot of fun. Bar was good but but perfect. There is some good fun that you can have there and everybody are cool. Room was awsome, food was nice also. The big shout out to hostess rosa, we had some good fun togher, she was very cool and showed me around.

We visted the Blue Bay hotel and was overall very happy with our stay! The customer service was fabulous and check in was so welcoming and warming. The evening entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed we wish we had stayed for longer! Until next time!

We stayed at Blue Bay for a week this June. 4 adults and 3 children aged 8, 4 and 1. We arrived late at night and were given a bag of sandwiches, crisps and fruit each which was lovely. Staff on arrival and throughout were very pleasant and helpful. Although we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, I can’t imagine we’d return to that particular hotel / location. Food and drink - The all inclusive alcoholic drinks weren’t the best.. you could be drinking all day and still not feel as though you’d had any alcohol at the end of the night. The restaurant served lovely food for adults which lots of choice, but not much choice for children. The pool snack bar only served pizza and sandwiches (oh and ice cream) which became repetitive. I’ve also never known a snack bar that doesn’t have chips haha. Entertainment - The kids absolutely loved the pools and the 2 slides, however I wouldn’t say the hotel itself caters very well for children. Not many activities in the day for children (kids disco that started at 17:30?! It was still daylight and extremely hot.. I didn’t see one child at the kids disco). Pool tables were not available for the first 3 days of our stay, but this may be because we went outside of the peak season? There were two young adults as part of the animation team who offered activities such as water aerobics, darts, table tennis and uno. There were some good acts on in the evening too, however they didn’t start until 21:30 (which maybe isn’t ideal for some if you have young children) and finished at around 22:45. The bars close at 23:00 so there was always a mad rush after the entertainment had finished, to get the last drinks in. Rooms - We paid for two jacuzzi rooms. The rooms in general were bog standard but nice. It seemed clean on arrival however throughout the week you could tell that it wasn’t particularly cleaned, just towel and bed changes. There was dust everywhere, including in the corners of shower/wet room. Location - If you want a nice, chilled, relaxing holiday then this is the perfect location for you. There’s not much to do and if you did want to venture out, it’s very hilly and steep. There is a bus that goes to Heraklion that picks up straight outside the hotel which is €4 per adult. There is also a mini shuttle bus that takes you from the hotel to Mononaftis Bay and back. It’s not far to walk but extremely steep - we managed to do it with the children and a pram and it was lovely whilst we were down there. The hotel has its only mini market and I emphasise on the word mini. The lady that ran it was absolutely lovely but it was extremely small and all other shops were a fair walk away from the hotel. The mini market was only open until 13:00 and opened again at 18:00-22:00. All in all, we enjoyed the holiday however I’d say it was more a 3 star rating than a 4.

“Perfectly fine hotel, do not stay if you have mobility issues!!”

Good points- The food- the greek pastries were one of the best things ive ever tasted, good selection of choice, good way to try lots of new food whilst also being provided with home comforts of pasta, roast meats and veg every night, some things were slightly bland but overall, its good food! Drinks are substantial, enough choice but also limited to what you can have without paying- the sangria is by far the best. Location- overlooking the ocean, beautiful everywhere you look. 20 min walk from the main strip of Agia Pelagia or 3 min walk down the the beach that has a bar/cafe,restaurant, watersports and gift shops. Rooms- we were updgraded to a family room at no extra charge, it was huge, so much space and the balcony was long with a spectacular view of the ocean. Staff- they were friendly, efficient, welcoming, polite and always smiling. The service at dinner in particular was impressive, very quick to clear dirty plates. Bad points- Location- if you want to be near the hustle and bustle, this hotel isnt for you. The walk back up from the beach at the bottom isnt long but is very steep and tough on the legs, not advisable for anyone with mobility issues or small children. (The beach and its crystal clear warm waters is absolutely worth it though) The flow of the hotel- depending on where your room is, there is a fair bit of going up and down stairs to get to the pool area or restaurant, again, this hotel is not advisable for anyone with mobility issues! Entertainment- there isnt much in the way of activities, apart from aqua aerobics performed by a couple of 16 year olds or darts competitions, there are performances in the amphitheater on some days (The Greek Dancers were phenomenal) but id recommend bringing a good book, earphones & some card games to keep you occupied during the day & night. Overall this hotel is lovely to stay in, there are no special luxuries or feelings of it being a grand hotel, but it is perfect for a week in the sun with great views, good drinks, interesting food and some relaxation time!! 7.5/10
