We were very happy with our stay at popi star. All staff were helpful and kind. Rooms were lovely and clean.. cleaned everyday. You have toiletries in the bathroom but also I would advise you take your own. There are no facilities to make a hot drink but you do have a fridge. Breakfast you had so much choice and all tasted lovely. The only Negative for me was around the pool there were only two umbrellas around the pool. But to others this might not be a negative. We were surprised this hotel is only 2 star. In a perfect location. I did read that the beach wasn't very nice but we found it fine. You pay for Beds and umbrellas 12€. You have I think it was 2 restaurant on the beach. It isn't a sandy beach but for me that's a bonus. There are plenty of restaurants and shops along the main strip also pubs and a night club/ Disco place. Would use this hotel again. Husband and wife... Age 61

Stayed for 11 nights bed and breakfast in this nice hotel which is situated in the centre of Gouvia village. The hotel is class as 2 star but in my opinion it is not far from being 3 star. Stayed for 11 nights bed and breakfast in this nice hotel which is situated in the centre of Gouvia village. The hotel is class as 2 star but in my opinion it is not far from being 3 star. The rooms are a bit dated but nevertheless are spotlessly clean and functional. The bed mattress was on the firm side but we got used to it.During our stay the bedding was changed twice and the room cleaned on a daily basis. We found all staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typical greek but with enough choice for everyone. The pool area was clean with enough sunbeds for all. Parasols are limited. So, if you are looking for a base to explore the surrounding area look no further than the Popi Star. We hope to return later this year.

Just returned from a week here. Hotel is in in great location at the top of the main Gouvia strip. It’s very basic hotel, very clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. My room was 201 which was good for me. Not many stairs to climb as there is no lift. Comfy bed and clean sheets every other day. The fridge was more like a mini freezer. Water nearly frozen overnight. Bonus! However my main complaint was the bathroom. Shower in the bath. No non slip cover in the bath, No safety handle to grab if you haven’t got good balance like me. No shower curtain so it’s hard to shower without soaking the entire room. Lovely balcony area with table and chairs. Breakfast was the most basic I’ve ever come across. Only 1 hot item each morning. Scrambled eggs twice and potatoes twice. Boiled eggs were cold. The water in the drink machine wasn’t hot enough to make a decent cup of tea and they need another toaster as one just wasn’t sufficient. Pool area was lovely as was the young man who served at the bar. Everything kept clean and tidy all day. It’s only a five minute walk to the beach……which was just a big patch of shingle and weeds. I’m looking to return next year.

Popi Star is a 2* traditional unpretentious hotel and reviewers who expect more should perhaps book higher rated properties. I found it lovely, reminiscent of the way hotels used to be. My room was spacious with a spacious balcony with table and chairs and room to lay down your towel for sunbathing. There was a fridge, handy for keeping drinks cool or in my case, feta, tomatoes and cucumber. The bathroom was probably the original, old but clean and everything worked. A shower over the bath, no screen or curtain so the entire bathroom got wet, which made the floor dangerously slippery. A fabric mat is supplied which made it less slippery. Towels and the bath mat is changed daily. I found the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a perfectly adequate buffet, maybe not offering the choice of a bigger hotel, but includes cheese, ham, tomatoes, cucumber, yogurt, honey, fruit, cereals, bread, hard boiled eggs, sometimes scrambled eggs and sausages, pastries, cakes. The swimming pool area is well maintained with loungers around and a pool bar and toilet. Excellent location, in the centre of the resort. Frequent bus service nearby to other resorts and Corfu Town (20 minutes).
