As it was built in 1956, it’s no surprise that it does not have all the facilities of a new modern design, but it was never meant to be for the masses. What it does have is 106 spacious rooms, all with amazing views over the bay, courteous staff, excellent menu choices and ‘style’ like no other in Corfu. It’s maybe not got what a young family holiday maker with children would want, but it has got class and is excellently run for couples who appreciate its laid back style. No childrens clubs, no disco, no pool exercise classes, just a perfect relaxed atmosphere. It advertises itself as a Luxury 5 Star Hotel in Corfu town – and deserves to. A truly enjoyable experience made even more so by all the staff who always wanted to ensure everything was perfect. So many I could mention but in particular for her friendly, knowledgeable and professional attitude it’s got to be Georgia In the pool bar that is well worth mentioning. Nothing to do with the hotel, but only minor drawback is its position in Corfu for limited ability clients heading to the many restaurants in Corfu town. Not a long walk, about 10 minutes if fit, but unfortunately it’s an uphill one. The only other hotel I can relate the style and ambience to is Raffles in Singapore. We look forward to returning

Just back from a wonderful week at the Corfu Palace. This was our first visit to this hotel, and indeed to Corfu, and we weren’t disappointed. Having read previous reviews of this hotel before making our booking, we expected it to be in need of some refurbishment but the style, soul and atmosphere of the hotel far outweighed any upgrading that is required. The staff are, as I think another reviewer mentioned, the jewel in the crown of the Corfu Palace. From reception to housekeeping and all other areas the staff are simply amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they do everything to make you feel welcome and at ease. It was my birthday when I was there and I was surprised with a beautiful vase of flowers and a birthday card at breakfast. As if that wasn’t enough, a special gesture was made at dinner too. The food is lovely and my gluten intolerance wasn’t a problem, as they were well able to accommodate any request I had in this regard, without any issue. Special mention to Spiros at the pool bar, Stathis and his lady colleague, whose name begins with a V, in the restaurant. Having said this, all the team deserve a special mention and I would list more names if I had been able to read more name badges without being too obvious. I understand it will close for refurbishment by the new owners at the end of this season. Hopefully they will be able to retain this hotel’s charm. This hotel is very special, has stunning sea views and is within only a few minutes walk of the beautiful Corfu Old Town. Thank you Corfu Palace for a lovely holiday. We are already looking at coming back.

This is old fashioned luxury at one of Corfu’s best hotels. The public rooms are very grand but the bedrooms are quite functional albeit with everything you need and are spotless. Location is perfect with a 10 minute stroll to the centre of the Old Town with all its shops and restaurants. Breakfast is very varied and well stocked. There is a great seawater pool and the cafe/bar is open all day and evening. Plenty of sunbeds and no booming music. Very relaxing. But it is the staff who make the difference as the service is brilliant. The very friendly Manager, Alex, throws a free cocktail party every week so you can meet other guests. He is a keen cricketer and Corfu has a long history of the sport. Thomas looked after us splendidly at breakfast and Georgia was very friendly in the bar. We had a late flight on the last day and the front desk gave us another room for the afternoon so we could shower before we left as we had been around the pool all day. All for free! We’ve stayed at lots of hotels in the Greek islands and this is definitely one of the best.

I'll start with one small niggle then move on to the praise this hotel really deserves. On our first night we decided to have dinner in the hotel. While everyone else around us was being attended to, we were more or less ignored for a good 25 minutes. I eventually gestured to a waiter in a way that was obviously saying I wasn't happy. He came over and apologised and thereafter the service was good. We were given free desserts without having said a word (my gesture was sufficient) so all was forgiven. The main course was nice but we felt was overpriced - speaking to a couple of other guests their experience of dining a la carte wasn't great either. On to the good stuff - reading reviews before booking I do acknowledge that parts of the hotel are a bit old fashioned but we love that so it suited us just fine. The whole place feels elegant. The hotel's location is second to none - not even 10 minutes walk to the old/new town and roughly 45 minutes walk to Mon Repos area. The view from our balcony was stunning, straight onto Galista Bay and the Old Fort. The gardens and pool areas are beautiful, spotlessly clean and attended to. So quiet with no poolside "boof boof" music to spoil the peace and serenity of the place. We were on a B & B package and breakfast was so varied, plentiful and delicious. Hot/cold options, pastries , fruits - I could go on and on. There was a freshly squeezed orange juice machine - pop in the fruits and you had the most delicious juice with no additives, added sugar etc. We arte out on the terrace. Our room was huge, cleaned daily and was absolutely spotless. Our flight home was at 22.25 and we were being picked up at 19.15 so I had asked reception if it was possible to have an extension put on our room. Unfortunately our room was being taken over that afternoon however, they very kindly gave us the adjoining room AT NO EXTRA CHARGE! I couldn't believe that - I've never been anywhere we weren't charged before. This just made the last day of our holiday special because we were able to be out and about all day and go back to our room for a shower (it was lovely and warm 29c). I cannot recommend this hotel enough - we've never gone back to the same hotel more than once - not that we didn't like previous hotels in different places - but this one just hit the mark 100% and we will definitely be back in a couple of years. Just one final comment on the staff - courteous, attentive, impeccably dressed, big smiles all round. Thank you Corfu Palace, we'll see you again xxx
