Just home after 10 days. Hotel was starting to shut down as end of season (1/10). Nice resort but definitely not 5*. Food was ok nothing exciting and very repetitive towards the end of our stay. Disappointed as no ‘themed’ evenings in the restaurant. A la carte restaurants Greek & Italian could only be booked once in a 10 night stay (only one or the other). Fridge in room only had one bottle of water on arrival despite the fact we were all inclusive. No other drinks were provided. No system to separate all inclusive from half board guests and had to give our room number each time we were served. Maybe a wrist band should be introduced like a lot of all inclusive hotels do. All bar staff and cleaners were marvellous and worked extremely hard. The entertainment team of Nini and Vicky were brilliant and worked together extremely well. Both very entertaining and amusing. Quiz nights lots of fun. We had upgraded to a swim up room which we hardly used. Unfortunately I had limited mobility and struggled with the ladder type steps to get in so this should be mentioned to customers as we would not have bothered upgrading. We requested an iron and board on arrival to be told they don’t supply them. So we just went out in creased clothes. Only paper cups were supplied in the room too. I would have preferred some proper crockery to have a nice cuppa! A nice relaxing time. Lixouri was lovely to visit on the local bus from outside the hotel. And the bars /cafes by XI beach are worth a 10 minute walk to.

The hotel itself was lovely. We had a room with a private pool which meant we never went to the main swimming pool. It was a great feeling after a day out, to just be able to step off your porch into the pool to cool down. The food was what one would expect for an all inclusive, but we were always able to find something tasty to eat. The night we spent in the Greek themed restaurant was lovely. It was nice to get traditional Greek food in Greece. There were a couple of things that were not so good. First was the location. The hotel is quite isolated so unless you are happy to stay in the hotel or take the short walk to Xi beach you need to hire a car. Public transport is lacking with only four buses a day with the last at 15:00 hours which rather limits you to go to Lixouri or Agorstoli, you cannot travel any further. The second was getting a drink at the bar in the evening. They have a system where only one person was taking the orders, which when the bar was full after dinner you could wait five minutes just to get hold of the person to take your order. It would then take another five minutes to get your drink served.

Returned last week from another lovely stay at the Apollonian, this was our 6th stay here. We were upgraded upon arrival and received a lovely bottle of wine and fruit in our room. The room was cleaned daily to a great standard. The wait staff in the main restaurant were quick and friendly, except on one occasion I was advised by a senior member of the team where to sit, when I got to the table I was informed at 8.50pm by a small petite member of staff that I couldn’t sit at the table assigned as it was closed, she was quite rude and I was told to find somewhere else abruptly, she even put her hands on the table and just said NO! CLOSED! there were other guests sat at the tables next to this one, so I couldnt understand why, the restaurant closes at 10pm. Her rudeness upset and embarrassed me and then I didn’t enjoy my meal and couldn’t wait to get out of there I avoided her section for the rest of my stay. This has never happened in any of the 6 times I have been there. All other staff were fabulous. I also had one small other issue, if you are All Inclusive you get the choice to choose an Italian or Greek meal in a different restaurant, I was advised upon checking in, to make my selection of restaurant with my pre requested meal choice up to 3 days before, I did this chose the Italian and was informed there was no more availability for me, I could have the Greek if I wanted, but after reading previous reviews thought best not too. So, we had to forgo our special meal which was a shame. I would advise you get that form filled out quickly and returned with a weeks notice. The main restaurant food was very nice and always lots to choose from, Pizzas are fabulous. Besides these couple of issues, loved our stay as usual, feels like a second home and would recommend. Big Shout out to Vasillis and his team who never stop, they work so hard and especially Vasillis he is everywhere all the time. George and his colleague in the pool bar, lots of fun and always had a smile on their faces Neenee and Victoria, the wonderful Entertainment team. I miss them already. Such fun, he fills a room with his personality, an absolute credit to the team. We have decided to not rebook as we usually would and to check reviews over the next couple of years, news around the lovely chilled top pool was that construction of a Water Park next to the lovely pool was about to start, we chose the Apollonion for its relaxed atmosphere, we choose to go our holidays in school term for a more relaxed holiday, the Water Park will ruin the whole ambience for us, the noise and screaming fills me with dread. We are definitely returning to Kefalonia as we love it so much but will try another resort. We wish The Apollonion good luck for the future and will miss how it is.

Just returned from Apollonian asterias resort. Hotel was kept very clean also room cleaners were very good and accommodating. No areas for adults to sunbathe without the noise of children. It would have been nice if there was an area. My main complaint was the food. Well below standard for a 5* hotel. Choice was also very limited. I guess it depends on what your standards are. If u like jelly and dessert just full of thick cream ok. If not difficult. Would not recommend this hotel to my friends.
