“A wonderful holiday at a wonderful Hotel”

We booked this holiday with EasyJet. It was one of the easiest bookings we've ever made. We really did not know what to expect from this Hotel as it was quite a last minute booking. But what an absolute gem of a place it is. The Hotel seems pretty big and has 4 detached blocks with studio rooms. But there never seemed to be too many people milling about at any one time. There were people of all nationalities in and out during the week, but we never felt crowded and there was never too much noise. We were in Block C on the ground floor. The room was immaculately clean with ample space to move about. Wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and hangers, ample drawers, a table and two chairs, dressing table, two bedside cabinets. The patio had a table and two chairs for those morning cups of tea. There was even a really good clothes airer complete with pegs to hang your damp towels on. Clean and functional bathroom, toilet, sink and very large shower with an excellent flow from the shower head. We had a lovely view of the mountains to one side and the gardens in front with a distant sea view. The room was so quiet! Even the aircon was whisper quiet. We both slept like babies all week. And surprisingly, the beds were actually very comfortable. Bedding and towels were changed every few days. There were metal shutter doors and glass patio doors so we could either have all open, outer doors shut but inner doors open or vice versa. These outer doors when shut helped to keep the room nice and cool. We had a lovely view of the sea, albeit in the distance, and the gardens. The grounds were beautifully maintained and everywhere was kept so clean and tidy. The swimming pool was more than big enough. In fact I struggled to do too many lengths. Immaculately clean and a perfect temperature. Plenty of sun beds to choose from. Toilets and showers at one end of the pool for convenience. The bar and restaurant were close by where you get drinks and lunch time snacks (hot and cold). We booked for bed and breakfast, as historically, we have always gone out in the evenings to eat at local Tavernas but to be honest, the food was so good at the Hotel, we only went out once. They had an evening buffet from 6.30pm to 8.30pm which had an excellent choice of food and changed each evening. There was always a choice of salads, meats and vegetables. We thoroughly enjoyed the food every night. The breakfast buffet was also superb. A good choice of fruit, cereals, home made yoghurt, jams and honey, eggs, mini sausages, bacon and plenty of other tasty stuff. This set us up well for the day. We asked where we might be able to hire a quad bike expecting to have to get a bus into town and book it ourselves, but the handsome Jacob on reception just picked up the phone and within minutes it was all booked for us and would be delivered at 10am the next morning. George turned up the next morning with a real beaut of a quad bike, 450cc, just the job for reaching the best beaches down very steep hills. 290 euros for 6 days. George was smashing and gave us all the safety information and his number if we got into any trouble with the bike. But what of the staff? They could not have been kinder or more helpful. Jacob and Helen on reception were truly lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Christina, Panagiotis and Angelo at the bar and breakfast time, always ready for a chat and a laugh. The lovely Theresa who greeted us at the buffet each evening with such genuine joy and the biggest smile. Tania, the lovely cleaner who kept our room so spic and span. Demitri who cleared the tables, a shy and gentle man. And of course, Yannis, the Chef, his food was some of the best we've ever had in all the Greek Islands we have visited. There were lots of other staff that we did not necessarily see all the time to get their names but they were all brilliant. If you like eating out, night life or shopping, you will need transport. The Hotel is not close to any major towns or shops. Lassi was around 25 minutes on a quad bike, probably a bit less in a car. And Lourdas was around 15 minutes away in the other direction. Both drives very pleasant. We were not too fussed about going out in the evening as this holiday was strictly meant for peace and quiet and to chill out in the sea or pool. Little St. Thomas' beach is just down the hill but is quite small and you would need to take your own parasol. The swimming there is beautiful though and we had several wonderful swims there and used the GoPro to film the fishes around the rocks. We had several days at Lourdata Beach which is an organised beach with plenty of sun beds and tavernas. The sea is quite calm and plenty shallow enough for children or nervous swimmers. We also went to Tortuga Beach which is just under mid way of the runway at the airport. Another organised beach where you can get snacks and drinks. Great swimming here if you like it a little bit choppy (which I do)! All in all, we could not have wished for a better holiday and it exceeded all our expectations. Thank to all at the Karavados Beach Hote. We SHALL return.

“Lovely surroundings and view”

Karavadous hotel has beautiful surroundings but it is best to have a car rental. There are buses into Argostoli daily for E2. Karavadous hotel has beautiful surroundings but it is best to have a car rental. There are buses into Argostoli daily for E2. The hotel needs a bit of upgrading in the room as looks quite tired, Rooms seem to have 2 beds which makes the room seem small. Bathroom needs upgrading. Room has a fridge. Coffee and tea making facilities are sparse as they only give you a kettle but on request will supply cup and spoon. Suggest you take your own coffee, tea, mug and spoon. Hotel has a Mini Market which is very sparse with water, milk, biscuits and that is about it. Staff are excellent as nothing is too much trouble. Gardner keeps the grounds in excellent condition. Maids do a great job. Food breakfast and dinner was very good. Nearest Mini Market next to Happiness Restaurant is a good 25 min hike up a hill. Nearest beach is walkable but uphill all the way back. There are one or two tavernas around.

This hotel has wonderful staff who are friendly and helpful, is very clean and the food is good. We were originally given a room in a separate block at the top of a hill and askedto be moved because of mobility issues. We were given an alternative room the second day of our stay in the main block without any problem. However it is let down by its rooms which are small, overcrowded, very dated and lacking basic amenities. The air con is inadequate and our bed quite uncomfortable. We had to ask for a kettle which was provided but without any cups or provisions. We didn't even have any glasses in the room and had to take plastic cups from the bar. It is only a 3 star but the rooms could be much improved through fairly simple refurbishment and updating. A double and a single bed are squeezed in and removal of the superfluous bed would make the room seem more spacious. The bathroom, although functional, is also very dated. The public areas were fine and the pool good although the sun beds were quite uncomfortable. The hotel is quite remote and the nearest shop is a very long walk away. However the hotel does sell basics like water. The nearest beach (10-15 mins walk) is tiny but there is a daily bus to the small town of Lordes with it's blue flag beach.
