I stayed in a four bedroom place in this location with my wife, two young children and my in-laws. The house was clean and well appointed. There was plenty of room so we were not under each other’s feet. The pool was excellent, the water was very warm. Unfortunately the location of this estate was to far to walk to many bars and restaurants. So we tended to drive everywhere. I would recommend pushbikes if you don’t want to drive everywhere. The estate was secure and well looked after, and very quiet. I would stay here again. The only let down for me was the lack of a decent bbq. It seem led most properties had one available. We did not

“Average villa but a great stay! ”

We had a lovely week in St Jean Du Mont and found the accomodation although quite basic was good for our group of 8 with 4 young children. The first thing I would say is to bring lots of home comforts i.e pillows/bedding/household cleaning items/washing powder etc. I was surprised there was not a small handful of essentials on arrival. We had a few issues with our BBQ and the garage door, the staff were helpful to a point but both issues not resolved so we recieved a small refund instead. The pool was fab & had a fence for safety, the kids loved every minute in it! I would recommend having it heated. The little garden was great too & outside dining area. It was a shame we couldn’t walk to any restaurants ( too far for young children & on a main road ) however plenty of great restaurants 10 mins drive! The beaches were amazing especially ‘Le Plege’ about 10 mins drive away. We had the best weather and really enjoyed our week, I would reccomend these villas just be prepared for extra charges or to bring your own bedding etc. We paid for an end of clean stay too and very glad we did as it made for a stress free exit! We will be back :-)

We stayed for a week at a private let through Ebookers. Like other guests we were surprised by the barrage of charges we were met with! €750 deposit, €150 cleaning deposit, €35 for a TV, which we declined and €12 each for 2 sheets and a worn, hard towel each, these charges were unexpected as the villa cost £450 off season. The villa itself, number 8, was really nice although some basic amenities were poor, no duvets and a mishmash of very tired looking blankets, although there was a huge assortment of cups, plates and bowls for at least 20 guests although much of it was old and chipped. Three bedrooms with one en-suite shower but only one toilet for up to 6 guests which strangely did not have a sink, you therefore had to go next door to wash your hands after using the toilet! All facilities in the kitchen including a washer in the garage although lacking any basics such as salt, pepper or even T towels. We did not use the private outdoor space but it looked amazing, barbecue, pool and loungers, there were cycles in the garage but unfortunately they were locked up, we would have liked to use them. The area is very close to a number of seaside resorts including the Isle of Noirmontier which was a particular favorite of ours, many places to visit if you have a car but we did not see much public transport in the area at that time of year, April. The area was exceptional, we saw many, many different birds including herons and hawks. St Jean de Monts is the really quaint local town, a good 30 minute walk, there are also many supermarkets a short drive away. Many of the restaurants were closed due to pre season and also most close in the afternoon and open again at 7pm. The reception had limited opening hours, one evening we had no hot water and when we reported it in the morning it was bizarrely blamed on the cold weather, fortunately it righted itself the next day. We also complained about the strong smell of urine from the toilet and were told to leave the doors open to allow the air to circulate! The leaving instructions are very stringent, demanding that we clean the entire villa including windows inside and out to prevent being charged €150 cleaning fees. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and visited many different places in the area but I am not sure if we would return to Madame Vancances, I think an Airbnb or hotel may be preferable. There are also many caravan sites in the area which are much cheaper than the villas and at least you would be prepared for the extra charges in a caravan.
