“Aurrera, Traiteur Restaurateur Ibardin”
Great cafe food, freshly cooked, good prices, great friendly service. On the day the Basque pate, red tuna, entrecôte, salad and fries, followed by apple tart, washed down with rose wine. Fabulous mountain views. English, French and Spanish spoken. Open daily. Closed January to Easter.

“Back For The 3rd Year In A Row”

The VVF "Untxin" offers very basic but suitable accomodation for a cheap family holiday on the Basque Country -after all with children you don't really spend a lot of time lazying around on your hotel room! The Good: The VVF staff have always been very friendly and they even remember us from previous years. The swimming pool is little but in summer you don't really spend much time there, as there are some beautiful beaches not too far from the Village. During the winter, the swimming pool is heated and just big enough for the cold weather visitors. The sports room is small but has the basic equipment to continue your workouts during your holidays. We have been back here for the 3rd year because the village is perfectly based for touring around the Basque Country. We have done the mountains in the morning, the beach after lunch and crossed the border to Spain for dinner and party at night. Another good thing about the location is that you don't need a car to come here. You can arrive by train to St Jean de Luz and take a short taxi ride to Urrugne where the village is located. Acces to the nearest beach is also practical, less than 10 minute walk. You can also walk to st Jean de Luz -about 4km). There are a few shops and markets around, so if you decide to eat in your appartment you can go either to Carrefour, Lidl or E.Leclerc. The Bad: The restaurant was the worst part, far too expensive for the type of food that it offers. The meals remind me the "bad cantine university years". Something to avoid. Would I go back? Yes I would, I have already been back three years in a row! The accomodation is basic but the friendliness of the staff and the geographical location are superb.
