Well, what can I say? We booked this beautifully stylish duplex (two floor) apartment on the spur of the moment. Whilst we've been to France many times, apart from a few stopovers, we've never stayed in Brittany, nor on the beautiful Brittany coast. We had a fantastic time here. Pornichet to La Baule has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the World.
Ker Juliette is a hotel, plus apartments set in beautifully wooded grounds. It has a restaurant (check opening times out of season) and a beautiful pool. The pool is clean with copious amounts of loungers and parasols. It's also on an electronic entry lock which stops randoms from using the facility. What is particularly amazing is how much of a sun trap it is. We had decent weather, 22/23degC most days, but on a few there was Force 6 winds. That was the issue with the beach even though we have a beach tent, it still wasn't very nice on the beach. However, lounging by the pool was superb. The high conifers surrounding the pool break the wind so well, that there isn't even a breeze! That might be an issue when the temperature goes past 28degC.
The reception staff, Zoe, in particular, were beyond helpful. Yes, despite 10 years of French from 6 to 16, and multiple ex-girlfriends who spoke French, my French was sadly lacking. However, Zoe was patient, and her English was certainly better than my French. Nothing was too much trouble for Zoe and her colleagues. Excellent customer service makes or breaks a holiday and Ker Juliette is top class. The maintenance man came to show us how to use the remote control for the Velux windows in the bedroom. He was so polite and helpful and mindful to take his shoes off before going upstairs.
The apartment itself, has a nautical theme, which is appropriate due to the history of the area. There are pictures on the walls of sailing ships, the colour ways remind you of the sea and there's even an amazing lamp on a nautical tripod. The apartment is only 38m. sq. which is small. There's the loo, kitchenette, living room and small bunk-bed room downstairs, with access to the terrace/balcony. Upstairs is the bathroom with the main bedroom. The bathroom is small, but functional with a smallish bath, probably 3/4 size, and with a powerful shower with limitless hot water. Bathroom storage is very good and there are plentiful, top quality, high threadcount towels.
The main bedroom has a very comfortable, firm, king size bed. There is a good sized wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and internal shelves. There are electrically operated velux windows (all duplex apartments are on the second floor) in a high pitched roof. The nautical theme continues and there is a very large square mirror on the wall opposite the bed ;)
The kitchenette is a small, galley style kitchen probably 1.5m long, if that by 2m wall to wall. There's a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a dishwasher (we didn't use it) and a combination microwave. There's also a filter coffee machine, a toaster (we bought fresh banettes and baguettes) so didn't use that either! The kitchen is the best equipped holiday apartment I have ever stayed in in my entire life. The range of utensils, cookware, glassware etc is exceptional. Yes, the kitchen is tight, but you're on holiday and meant to be out and about! We had breakfast, at the lovely dining table. There's a leather sofa bed and armchair with a coffee table. All the furniture is excellent quality, not the usual level you find in a holiday apartment.
We didn't use the downstairs bedroom. Well, I used it for my cases and camera paraphernalia. It was just my wife and myself staying and the space was fine. I'm guessing that if you are more than two adults, you will find it cramped with 4 adults. If you're a family of 6, you'll be OK, but I'd go for the two bedroom duplex in either case. With young kids you'd be alright.
There's a sizeable terrace, and as a few people commented the chairs are somewhat grubby. However, all you need do is put a towel on them, it's not a big deal. Overall, the apartment was spotlessly clean. My wife is a stickler for cleanliness and I always dread staying anywhere because it can cause friction between us. However, when we opened the door or 30 June we were extremely pleased and amazed we'd got this at such a low rate. The French school holidays started on the day we left (7th July) and the prices went up 300% plus. As always in France, the French Government levy a Tourist Tax to help pay for the additional strain on local service. It's calculated as a percentage of your accommodation cost. Additionally, KJ take an authorisation of EUR90 (or EUR100 depending on apartment size). This is not charged to your card, but blocked off, and is released at midnight on the day you leave. The charge is for cleaning, more precisely, if you fail to clean the kitchen and remove the bed linen and towels, they will keep the money. The kitchen is so minsicule, it's a half hour job at most. If you're clean and human, this won't be a problem.
We had an amazing time and we are already talking about coming back with my 5 adult kids and their b/fs and g/fs next year. I can't recommend Ker Juliette and the lovely Zoe enough. This was a great holiday mad wonderful by great accommodation.
BE WARNED:
1) There is no internet in the apartments.
This is a blessing because it forces you to communicate and for me, meant, for the first time in 40 years, I didn't do any work on holiday.
2) If you are of a large (overweight) physical size, you won't be able to fit in the bath or shower, or kitchen. You can't blame the owners for your condition, as a few on here have tried to do.
3) There's a local boulangerie (bakery). The woman there is rude! (LOL!) and it sells out very quickly. A block down the road, there is a local shop that sells daily fresh bread. If you've got your car, a short drive to Pornichet brings you 3 supermarkets and several boulangeries.
Thank you Zoe, and all your colleagues for making our stay wonderful, Peter and Vetta.
PS: IF YOU CAN GO TO PUY DU FOU.....It's the greatest theme park on the planet. 90 minutes drive and 1/3 price of Disney, and a million times better (for kids older than 10).

“quiet and comfortable -- excellent weekend stay”
We went for a three-night stay in a holiday flat in Ker Juliette. We had a very comfortable time. People at the reception were friendly, efficient and helpful. The flat was clean, warm and quiet. There were good toilet and kitchen facilities and it was tastefully decorated. It would be ideal if the… more

“comfortable and reasonably priced”
I stayed for three nights in the holiday flats of Ker Juliette (they also have hotel rooms). The flat consisted of a sitting room, a bedroom, a fully-equiped kitchen, toilet and bathroom with shower and bath. It was clean, warm and quiet. If I opened the French windows, I could hear the waves. Anot… more

“Big! ”
The was more like an American condo than a hotel. It was so refreshing to be able to take a hot bath in the large tub after driving all day. It is a quick walk to the beach. Unfortunately for us, it stormed the whole time we were there. Lovely grounds and accommodation. Free WiFi only works in the … more

“Rather basic hotel”
Stay for two nights on a work trip in one of the apartments and found it basic with limited facilities. The WiFi didn't work in the apartments, I had to sit in reception to get coverage, not ideal! It is more suited to families on holiday who need space.
