I have awkward feelings about this hotel: this is a very worn-out hotel that is in urgent need for renovation in all senses with almost no customer focus but if I were to ever stay again in Mont Saint Michel, I would opt for this hotel once more because of its unique views. We stayed in room number 101 and from my bed I could see the Mont Saint Michel and this erased for me all the other negative aspects. No other hotels in the area have such a location and such an angle. The hotel building must have been very impressive when it was first built but today, it is blazingly in disrepair: it goes frum furnitures to floors. Breakfast room has the most stunning view but again, the same decayed ambiance dominates this place too. But the breakfast itself is satisfactory. In the room, the situation is better, it is just old fashioned furnitures but other than that, everything is acceptable inside the room. In order to access the hotel, you need to have a passcode to enter Mont Saint Michel section, so make sure you have the passcode before you get to the restricted area, the hotel sends it via e-mail just a day before your check-in date.

“Nice place to stay with a wonderful view of Mont Saint-Michel”

I hesitated to book at Le Relais Saint-Michel based on the prior reviews, but we really enjoyed our stay here! They emailed us a code to access the gate to the hotel guest parking lot prior to arrival, and we just drove up to the gate, punched in the code, and drove right up to the hotel. The rooms were not yet ready for us at around 4pm (a negative), so we left our bags with the hotel and ventured out to Mont Saint Michel. This hotel is the closest to the monument, and the bus stop is right in front of the parking lot, so it was a matter of minutes before we were at the foot of the Mont. We returned to the hotel after exploring for a few hours, and the check-in was fast and easy, and we had a recently renovated smaller room (101) with a nice outdoor terrace with a panoramic view of Mont Saint-Michel, and a much larger recently renovated room (201) with an oblique rooftop view, although still very nice. We found some minor issues with cleanliness (the prior guest's facial wash was not removed from the room), but otherwise the room was clean, comfortable, and just perfect for an overnight stay. The mont was not very illuminated at night (we were there a few days before the noctural illuminations), but it was lovely to gaze at it at night and in the morning when there were no people about, just goats. Would definitely stay here again if in the area - our friends stayed down the road at another hotel within the gates and I definitely think this was a superior experience.

“Staff were very helpful.”

The condition of the hotel is a problem. It could use a very extensive remodel/cleaning. Simple issues like picking up trash on the property need to be addressed. Lack of air conditioning is also big problem. Rooms are hot and stuffy. This lack of air conditioning spills over to the restaurant. Win… more

The condition of the hotel is a problem. It could use a very extensive remodel/cleaning. Simple issues like picking up trash on the property need to be addressed. Lack of air conditioning is also big problem. Rooms are hot and stuffy. This lack of air conditioning spills over to the restaurant. Windows and door are left open to the extent possible to provide circulation which means that the restaurant is overwhelmed with flies and mosquitos. Whoever owns/manages this hotel needs to pay more attention to making it a better experience for the guests. So many things have been neglected that they get in the way of a pleasant visit. That being said I found the staff to be extremely helpful and kind. Also, the view of Mont St Michel from the hotel rooms cannot be beat.
