This historic hotel is quite picturesque. We regularly chose to eat and drink at the hotel restaurants and bar - and glad we did. The rooms are large, quiet, and nicely appointed. The location is great for the “walking” tourist. What impressed me the most though was the staff. There was one lady named “Charlie” who was so helpful and gracious; that it was as if we were invited guests in her quaint home. My pet Freddy disappeared while visiting. Upon checkout, Charlie informed me that if Freddy did reappear, that she would adopt him.

“ok value for the money”

a nice building with an old and a new part, located in the middle of the town (not really recommended if you come by car), very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable and quiet rooms, good restaurant for dinner but the breakfast is a little disappointing

Overall we were disappointed in our stay. The photos of the rooms on the website corresponded in no way to the room that we got. Overall we were disappointed in our stay. The photos of the rooms on the website corresponded in no way to the room that we got. The problem is that the hotel has a modern section and an older one, where we were lodged. In our section the radiators were disconnected but not removed from the room. Heat was provided by stand-alone electric radiators, each with a different operating modus (which was nowhere explained). The pillows were all the same and awful: huge synthetic things which were very uncomfortable for me. Although I eventually got to sleep, I had a stiff neck in the morning. The hotel could not provide other pillows. There was no chair in the room upon which one could sit down and read a book or newspaper. There was a desk chair that was very hard and uncomfortable to sit upon for more than a few minutes. There was a closet with a rod to hang coats, etc. but no shelf at all. We had to live out of our suitcases. There is no sink (and no heat) in the room with the toilet. After using the toilet, one needs to walk through the entire room to the bathroom to wash one's hands. Positive note: for showering and bathing, the water pressure was good and hot water came immediately. The towels were also very plentiful and good. The shower is integrated into the tub. The floor of the tub is higher than the floor of the bathroom and there is nothing to hold on to when getting in and out of it, which is a bit precarious depending upon age and physical condition. Also positive: the mattresses were comfortable and the mini-bar was complementary. The hotel is also well located.
