Hotel Athanor

“A lovely stop in Beaune.”

I don't really know how to review this hotel - it ticked the boxes but it was quite basic. Felt a bit like a convent. We liked it but it is not luxurious, in a great location and slept very well. Didn't eat at the hotel.

I was a bit concerned when we first arrived as I thought the corridor to our room was a bit run down,but this turned out to a perfect location to see Beaune! Our room had been refurbished, great air conditioning, superb shower and within walking distance of everything - there is also a pretty park at the end of the road which was great as we were travelling without dog. Staff were all very lovely. A great find.

“Central location and good value”

The Hotel Athanor has a great location very close to the famous Almshouse Hospice museum with its incredible Flemish 15th century altarpiece and tapestries. The Hotel Athanor has a great location very close to the famous Almshouse Hospice museum with its incredible Flemish 15th century altarpiece and tapestries. The front desk staff on duty was friendly and helpful, and the Wifi worked well. The rooms were clean but somewhat small, but this didn't matter as we only stayed one night; however, for a longer stay you would want to ensure your room was one of the bigger ones. Due to the historic nature of the building the windows are single glazed so the room was a little chilly at night. The shower was powerful and warm, there's a lift. Only street parking is available, but we found some close by, so this wasn't a problem, but be prepared to drop your bags and then drive around looking for a park.

Disappointed by this hotel. Booked and paid for a "comfort" room but room (209) did not resemble the illustrations. Disappointed by this hotel. Booked and paid for a "comfort" room but room (209) did not resemble the illustrations. It was only just big enough for the bed and furnishing identical to "classic" photos. Curtains were not properly finished - surplus length was held up with safety pins). 2 small pillows plus a useless small cushion for each person on the bed. Bathroom extremely small and shower floor had no rim so the rest of the bathroom flooded almost immediately with standing water puddle all night. "Trendy" black painted walls combined with lights that turn themselves off meant that corridor to the room was almost pitch dark until a switch could be found. The hotel is well located, breakfast was OK and the few staff we encountered were polite, but we won't be back.
