Extraordinary experience at chateau le cagnard. I felt like I was in a fairytale. Complete bliss! Everything about this hotel was truly brilliant. A big special thank you to the staff who were all extremely helpful and were so kind to us! We felt so comfortable and relaxed! This hotel is magnificent, the interior, the art, the food was amazing and it has the most beautiful views. We stayed in room Ziem which was the ideal room and I could not get enough of the view from our room, room ziem was perfect! I did not want to leave! We took a day trip to Nice and Monaco which was convenient but it all honesty, we rushed to come back to cagnes sur mer as it is an underrated gem! The hustle and bustle in nice and Monaco was overwhelming and overrated so we were very happy to be back in cagnes sur mer! I felt very relaxed and at peace. haut de cagnes has the prettiest streets and a hilltop with tasty food with more amazing views. I’ve been on many holidays and this has a very special place in my heart. I will definitely be back!!

My husband and I— along with another couple— stayed here upon our arrival at the Nice Airport for the start of our vacation in Southern France and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Our room was lovely… the bed was so comfy with exquisite linens (inc. the bath towels). Every room is different. We stayed in The Villery. The staff were super helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and I wish we could’ve stayed longer this time. 🙌

I was a bit worried after seeing some recent negative reviews, but I needn’t have been. We had a lovely stay in this very historic and characterful hotel. We loved walking up to have dinner in the square which was so busy after dusk. Le Village was our favourite. It is very very easy to get dropped at a convenient spot to then take a short walk (1 minute, flat) along the cobbles to the hotel - this is 81 Montée de la Bourgade which the hotel communicates to you in advance of your stay, where the bus local bus stops. Some Ubers etc don’t realise they can access here, and they will stop at a parking lot a 4 minute walk from the hotel, but even the local bus can access it don’t really shouldn’t be a problem. We had a very good taxi driver guillaume booked through the hotel with a fabulous 6 seater car (or 4 seater plus suitcases in the bag, we had several!) For anyone worried about getting to and from the hotel, call Guillaume and he will make it simple for you (excellent English) - TAXI PRESTIGE - Guillaume LE DALL + 33 (0)6 64 00 06 06 taxiprestige06@aol.com

Hotel Chateau Cagnard is uniquely situated in one of the hilltop medieval villages of Côte d’Azur. The hotel is not accessible by car, but they offer a pick-up service from nearby parking areas when you call them. I booked our room through Hilton since Small Luxury Hotels recently joined the Hilton family in June. Booking via Hilton is slightly more expensive than booking directly, but it comes with Honors points and other perks associated with Hilton status. As a Hilton Diamond member, I was entitled to free breakfast, space-available room upgrades, and other property-specific perks. However, at check-out, it appeared they had no information about my Hilton status because the breakfast charge was on our final bill. They removed the charge after I informed them it should be complimentary due to my status. It seems this oversight must have also affected our room upgrade, the lack of it, even as the hotel was not full according to the concierge. We stayed at three other Hilton Small Luxury Hotels during this trip in Provence, and all of them recognized our Hilton Diamond status at check-in, provided upgraded rooms, and had welcome amenities in the room. Our superior room was very small, with no space to have two suitcases open simultaneously. The hotel staff was very friendly, but it took about half an hour to get towels to the pool/deck area. When trying to order drinks at the pool area, I called via the “video phone button,” but no one answered, so I ended up calling the central number on my mobile to place the order. The breakfast offerings were quite limited. Among the four SLH hotels we stayed at in the region, this hotel’s breakfast was unfortunately the poorest. We had reserved a table at the hotel restaurant for the evening and requested to sit outside on the terrace, which has a beautiful view. Initially, we were offered a table inside, but after pointing out my request for an outside table, we were given a table at the side of the terrace. We had one of their set menus, which included seven different dishes. Two dishes included fish, while the others were vegetarian. The food was okay and nicely presented, but I would have expected a bit more in terms of service for a restaurant of that caliber. Just a note to other Hilton Honors members: at SLH hotels, one doesn’t get points for any incidentals like at other Hilton brand hotels. Points are given only for the room rate (learned this during this trip). By the way, the hotel asked for feedback via email after our stay. I wrote pretty much the same feedback as above, and to this day, nobody has responded or acknowledged it. Pity.
