“Excellent hotel in the city centre”

I stayed for only one night, but it was a great experience. I booked it by walking into the hotel, and a one-night stay in a single room costs 88 euros. The hotel is in the city centre, and it is what you need to explore Bordeaux. The room was spotless.

“Great location—very comfortable”

Great location in the old city close to countless restaurants and shops. Our room was on the top floor and featured a balcony looking over the city. The decor is contemporary and the beds quite comfortable. Extensive breakfast. Service was helpful and friendly.

We stayed in the sky suite, which has two bedrooms and access to a rooftop table and chairs. Whilst the weather wasn’t kind to us, outside wasn’t very inviting anyway and a bit tired. As one of the two bedrooms didn’t have a door (?) we thought the suite might have been better if it had had one bedroom and a separate sitting area/ sofa bed as even though there were two bedrooms there wasn’t that much actual space. There was no refrigerator either, which was a big miss. What we liked about the hotel was its location, its friendly staff and general vibe. There was no bar, but a good bar next door and it’s bang in the middle of the city so the absence of a bar area didn’t really matter

Great Location. Nice Staff. Mediocre Hotel. "Happy Culture" sounds like a corporate theme dreamed up by the Moonies. In some Google pictures you see three stars. While marketed as a 4 star, it is still a 3 star. Kudos for restoring an old building in an optimal location. But they didn't go far enough. There is one precarious and small elevator. YOu see a lot of guests walking up and down the spiral staircase tired of waiting. It is shared by the service staff, and even some of them resort to the stairs. There are some nice design touches; others are a bit tacky. The furniture in the breakfast room could have been bought at a tag sale. Speaking of breakfast, quantity doesn't equal quality. While the yogurt (Malo brand) and local butter are excellent, the juice, coffee and most pastries are in the generic and forgettable range. When a tour group is in town since only one of the two coffee machines work, ou stand in line like at the Italian Post Office. Traffic flow in the breakfast area is suitable for a rugby scrimmage. While our room was quite spacious, it was also quite dim. Especially so in the bathroom. Why do so many french hotels put a tracking ight in the ceiling in the vicinity of the mirror and call it a day. No one wants to shave or apply makeup in moonlight. Putting a rainwater shower head in a narrow tub and using just one short panel is suitable for two dimensional guests. For the rest of us, it means most of the water winds up on the floor. Towel thickness is from the 3 star days. With plenty of international guests, quite a few English speaking, it would be appropriate to have at least one English news channel, such as BBC, France24 and/or CNN. Most 4 star hotels do. In fact, many have all three. With luggage storage and rarely picked up coffee cups, the lounge area is really not inviting. Some of the sofas are dirty. The front desk staff can be cheerful and helpful. They secured taxis for us on several restaurant trips. When we were concerned one day that our room hadn't been cleaned by 3, the next two days they made it right. We asked on arrival for help in finding the right coiffure for my wife. A lady said she would do some research and get back to us. She never did. Fortunately, we found an excellent place on our own. When we checked out no one asked us how our stay was. Perhaps they knew we weren't entirely happy campers. Or maybe that isn't their procedure. Happy Culture is capable of doing much better, as we have seen at one of their hotels in Nice for many years. It is time for them to up their game. As of now, we will be looking for another hotel on our next trip to Bordeaux.
