We had a really good time. I really appreciate that, unlike other resorts, the environment is surrounded by a certain discretion. In fact, there is no deafening music that would prevent you from enjoying a holiday worthy of the name. The sea is, as usual, unique in the world, and the area is not subject to strong winds, so we were able to admire the coral reef every day. The restaurants are great; the staff is helpful and generally very friendly. However, some negative notes: there is no spa or state-of-the-art gym, contrary to what is advertised on the website. There is no sauna or anything else. There is only a small gym in the Baron Palm (another independent structure and definitely lower level) of about 20 square meters, which guests of the Baron Resort also have access to. However, 4 or 5 machines cannot be enough for about 600 rooms and therefore at least a thousand guests... Whether the absence of a gym and spa was temporary due to extraordinary work or something else was not made known to me, nor did the staff admit it following my questions, and nothing was said to me during the booking phase. Therefore, I concluded that they do not exist. A 5-star hotel should not fall into such behaviour. The pianist playing in the hall is not a pianist, she has some basic knowledge but is an amateur beginner. I, a graduate of the Royal Academy of London in piano, allowed myself to play the piano during the afternoon; I was brutally interrupted in the middle of the performance of one of the most challenging pieces in the world ( Beethoven's Hammerklavier ) by a rather rude character from the reception who told me that playing the piano is forbidden and that only the "artist" of the hotel can do it. Usually, in most places that host a musical instrument, from hotels, airports, parks, etc ... I have had the opportunity to appreciate signs of the type " if you know how to use me, you are welcome ", and in other rare cases, especially for unique and priceless instruments, I have found elegant strings that somehow hinted that it was forbidden to touch them. But on the Baron's piano, there was no prohibition. I have travelled and played in dozens of different places in the world, and never have I experienced treatment like the one I received. I expected greater intelligence and wisdom from the staff involved in managing the situation. And so, immediately after, the hall was plunged back into the confused croaking of multiple smartphones of customers lying on the armchairs watching their videos and various games at high volume, and this is precisely an increasingly common phenomenon that sooner or later will have to be addressed, in fact even at the Baron as everywhere, while having dinner or lunch, or reading on a deckchair on the beach, very often you find yourself disturbed by people listening to their smartphones at high volume, without headphones, from adults to children, even newborns so quickly rendered harmless by their parents. This continuous overlapping of annoying sounds with the background music of a restaurant deprives the place of the atmosphere it wants to create. On more than one occasion, I asked other guests to use headphones kindly or limit the volume of those objects. In my opinion, the management could raise awareness among customers on this issue, for example, by placing discreet signs inviting them to respect other guests by using headphones, or by providing simple earphones for each table, the cost of which is negligible, and inviting guests to use them if they want to entertain themselves with digital devices, to promote a peaceful environment and a pleasant atmosphere for everyone. This problem is not the Baron's, but the society's. My comment is limited to a suggestion to make the place even better. Another note that left me a bit perplexed is the organisation of excursions. If it is true that it is a service external to the hotel, it is also true that it is proposed and managed in the internal space of the Baron. Therefore, it is the Baron who should set clear rules for those who are in charge of proposing and organising excursions. I will explain the reasons that led me to this observation: I think it is outrageous that to swim with dolphins, they ask for 150 dollars, and then it is strictly forbidden to take some photographs under senseless pretexts, only to find yourself blackmailed into having to buy the photos taken by them for 180 dollars, that is, more than what the experience cost. Or again, that the excursion on a private boat is recommended at a particular time because, according to the person in charge, only at that time there are no other boats, which is not true because then you find yourself in a chaotic presence of dozens and dozens of boats. This time, it had been suggested with a lot of insistence because it was the only one that had not yet been sold. And again, during the excursion on a private boat, I asked to be taken to the Lagoon; I have been to Sharm el Sheikh other times, and I know this nearby place is terrific for snorkelling. The boat pilot told me that I could no longer go because the Lagoon was given as a gift by the Egyptian president to the United Arab Emirates and that, however, we could have agreed (money) to make an exception to the rule and go anyway. Trying to fool a customer who deals with geopolitics with false and senseless statements exclusively to take money from him is pathetic. It should be a prohibited and severely punished attitude. However, if you are willing to leave aside the points described in my previous observations, let yourself be enchanted by a wonderful place and an unparalleled sea, and demonstrate humility, gratitude, and courtesy to a staff that is generally among the most exquisite, the Baron is able to offer a splendid holiday. My comments are only ideas for further improvement so that the structure is increasingly compliant with the 5-star category. In conclusion, the Baron offers the best experience compared to many other resorts. Yaryna is very, very professional and helpful. PS I want to express my deep appreciation to the guitarist and singer who performed during a poolside dinner. One of the best I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. A kind contribution to his talent is a must for everyone!
