Just finished a fabulous 2 weeks stay at The Makadi Palace Hotel. Stayed several times previously and honestly - even tho the hotel gets older the experience just gets better. The staff are amazing! from housekeeping to management - everybody is so friendly and helpful. Chef's asking if you have found something to eat that you like ! Just fabulous. The service has been brilliant. I really cant praise the hotel and its staff enough.

6th time at this hotel,and we were greeted like old friendsI can't understand some of the really bad reviews on here,it has certainly never been my experience.the room was clean and well maintained,the service by all the staff was very good,i tipped for good service and i was never made to feel that i had to in order to get served.i always treat staff with respect,unlike some people who treat them as servants,no please no thank you.bear in mind that if you tip in euro's or £1 the staff can not bank it,so when one asks you to change £5/10 you know why,I always change them. better to tip in egyptian pounds if you can,64 to £1 I was happy with the food before,but it is even better now,the "dome" was being refurbed last time we were there in april,and is now better laid out and modern. the 2 a la carte restaurants the thai and the botanical are both highly recommended.fillet steak and duck spot on.drinks are included in both. drinks are not included in the mall,outside the hotel,and if i was to critisize one thing it would be the price of drinks..5 euro's for a bottle of the same beer you get in the hotel.same bottle in a bar in hurghada is less than 2.*stella is not stella artois*it is local,still nice.£2.50 for fresh orange juice is ok. in the mall I would recommend the chinese,french and italian.some items are extra charge,but there is plenty at no charge. free wifi is only available in the air conditioned lobby bar,and the main complaint seems to be that you have to pay for drinks inside.....well there is a good reason for that.....if the drinks were free,everyone would be in there,and there wouldn't be any room!!! i will be honest,we only really come for the snorkelling,which is fantastic,just walk along the seafront to waterworld/fort arabesque and you can walk in from a sandy beach. ..guy at the joker bar brought me a drink every time he saw my glass was nearly empty recently we were there july(too hot) november,april and october....and we will look to go again in march/april. we keep looking at other places,but we know what we get at the palace and are quite happy to return. not many english come here,and a lot of the ones we have met there have all been a few times,lots of germans who are really friendly,the palace is so big and spread out that even when it's busy it seems quiet. all i can say is that if you want a relaxing break at a nice hotel that is really good value for money this fits the bill. a big thank you to all the staff for making our holiday an enjoyable experience...we may well be back soon. if I help anyone with info feel free to ask.

Just had another very pleasant trip to makadi palace . For a relatively old hotel it’s good to see the resort being upgraded in many ways . Just had another very pleasant trip to makadi palace . For a relatively old hotel it’s good to see the resort being upgraded in many ways . The new dome restaurant is superb and taken over as our favourite restaurant. The rooms are slowly being upgraded to . The food this trip was the best it’s ever been and the gardens are amazing . Overall a great trip and I hope to see the improvements continue. Thanks to all the staff who are amazing especially Paolo guest relations

Terrible disaster in the Botanical Garden Restaurant, which is part of the hotel and which you have to reserve in advance. The waiter was unfriendly, the folded napkin was dirty on the inside, and when we ordered lemon soda the waiter was obviously already overwhelmed. The food that was prepared was uncreative and absolutely tasteless. That's why there is only a photo of the botched banana split, which was simply inedible. The other dishes looked and tasted horrible. Even though the peak season is over, you shouldn't sink to such a level. I've eaten better in company canteens than here. The Thai Garden Restaurant next door, which is also part of the hotel, is the exact opposite. The staff are very friendly and committed. The dishes in the Thai restaurant are well prepared and tasty across the entire menu and the chef even comes personally to ask if everything is OK. A big compliment to the staff at the Thai restaurant. Which is why one has to say, it would be better to close the Botanical Garden rather than subjecting its guests to such rudeness and terrible food!!!!
