I had the best stay at this hotel Ali from room 1300 and Raff the clearer from the swim up room was so nice and helpful. I also got help from 2 ladys one called saff and one called Helena they was great and was always willing to help. Saff stayed in contact with me when i was on hoilday to make sure everything was ok. We met some lovely people staying at this hotel the animation was great. I would come back and I fully recommend family suite It was beautiful xxxx

“Wi-fi non existent, but great hotel”

We are here now, 1 week into a 2 week holiday from UK, hotel is amazing, food great, beach is stunning, staff are so friendly and helpful, we booked the bungalow on the sea view with roof terrace amazing, room smelt of sewage called them They sorted it! Be warned if you’re a social media person then this hotel isn’t for you, lack of wi-fi here, if like us you need to keep in touch with family for health reasons think again, you can get wi-fi at reception, hit and miss by the main pool, but nothing in your rooms, wi-go outside for 3 days here, since then it’s been terrible, if you can live with out social then happy days, would we come back? Probably Not as we don’t return to the same hotel twice, but I would recommend this place, have to pay $80 to eat teppanyaki like we did, $20 each for Chinese, and the seafood is £5000 Egyptian pounds, you have one visit to the restaurants per stay, that’s to the Egyptian, and Italian, both very good though! It’s not all inclusive like Caribbean, where they serve martinis etc, very basic drinks here, no coffee liqueurs, bring plenty of sun cream as you will need it! Enjoy but remember no wi-fi here!

Firstly this review is honest. The problem why there is so many mix reviews will depend upon how well you’ve travelled if your used to four stars above, then you will definitely think this is a lot less. If you’re used to three stars below, you’ll think this is a five star and if this is the case this review won’t be for you. In my opinion this hotel is just touching three stars. On face value it seems more but there are many things wrong to get it to the four star in my opinion. If you are unlucky enough like ourselves to be placed on the back next to the building site then expect to be woken up at 4:30am from the mosque and 6am from the building works. We understood that this is out of the control of the hotel but asked if there is any other room we could move to at reception. The option we were given was the most expensive room in the whole hotel costing an extra £360. We did contemplate it as we needed to sleep and relax. However we were very lucky whilst on the pool side and a lady called Safi a customer relations person was walking around and asked if there was any problems. We explained the situation and she said let me look into this. She managed to move us to same standard room at no extra cost which we was very grateful for. The pool area is good, having multiple pools for kids and families and beach which gives the main pool plenty of space. The pool bar being right beside the main pool, where the waiters at times brings you your drinks if there not to busy. The alcohol itself is fine, it’s not petrol it’s just standard, however very limited and only a few spirits available. There is no premium brands and no option to buy any premium so it’s their own brand. The waiters are very adaptable and will make you different cocktails that isn’t on the menu if you ask within the means of what they have. The actual menu for cocktails are hit and miss and depends on who makes them with more experience. Entertainment, the staff do try their best to get everyone’s spirits up but the schedule is the same every day. We personally don’t think this is our sort of thing but having someone trying to get you to belly dance every day is abit odd. We cannot comment on the evening entertainment as it actually started really late, the kids side doesn’t start until 09:30 for an hour and the adult side at 10:30 so we just got bored watching the kids at that time. The negative side is there are entertainment staff or staff for hotel extras that come around constant when you are at the poolside when your trying to relax to ask you do you want a beauty spa, excursions etc which isn’t normally a problem but having it constant is annoying when you’ve already said no as there are many who do this and they also forget they asked. The food, we never went to the a la cart restaurant as we wasn’t explained on check in each one is only open certain days and very limited availability and has only one sitting per table. We only realised this when trying to book the Italians for the Saturday night as it’s closed and the others was booked up. The other two buffet restaurants are the same, ones for families with kids and ones more for adults. The food is not massively catered for British but you can get by, such as in the mornings omelette and toast, dinner French fries and burgers in the snack bar and evenings there’s fresh pizza, meat, pasta and rice. Be prepared to eat the same food every night as it doesn’t change massively. On a positive note there is a proper sit down meal late evening which starts at 10:30pm for an hour. This was very ideal for us as we arrived just after ten in the country. There is a dessert bar, this is meant to be open 24 / 7 and does have desserts, fruit and ice cream but you have to ask as it’s behind the counter. The only bad point on this is the waiters are very sexiest to an extent. My partner was in a bikini to get some ice cream and was served no issues and the next day I went in swimming shorts and wouldn’t be served even though another lady was in a swimming suit getting served. To prove this my partner tried again in a different bikini and got served no problem. So they appear to only like the girls in very little but not the blokes in swim shorts and I had to wear a t shirt to be served. The rooms are standard, there clean, tidy, has what you need. The cleaners can come anytime as one evening they came at 5pm. As a whole the stay was ok there was nothing amazing or outstanding to what a four star should be. If you are after a clean place to stay for a week. The hotel is situated on a long road with nothing about. There is no other restaurants, bar or shopping centres. So if you don’t like to be secluded in one hotel this place wouldn’t be for you. Another side note, we booked a private excursion the Cairo for the day. Here some notes to be aware of as wasn’t explained to much when booked. You leave at 2am to drive to Cairo it is only a four hour or so drive but you have to go by convoy so it’s takes much longer at around six hours or so. Plus a stop in the middle for half hour. The day it self though was really good to see the Museum, pyramids and sphinx and definitely worth a visit. The other bad side is without telling you they ask you to go into an oil place and spices which they say it’s free to chat and having a drink but you highly feel pressured to by something which we didn’t want anything. You also stop at a paper place which for us was interesting as it was something different and we did buy something. This might not be to some peoples tastes. Once all done though you have the drive back which isn’t by convoy and is quicker. It is a long day but for a once in a lifetime thing to do it is worth it as next day you can relax by the pool.

Hotel Cleanliness 3/5 Service 3/5 Rooms 3/5 Food 3/5 Drinks 2/5 Location 2/5 Beach 2/5 Iron available, hair dryer in bathroom, free aircon, free safe, TV has bbc world service, CNN, 2 x movie channels called 2 and another called mix in English. Kettle, tea, coffee, bottled water (no milk) Fridge with few soft drinks cans, small juice cartons. Shampoo/soap/conditioner. Card given on arrival for pool/beach towel use & exchange daily. WiFi 3 routers but sporadic, free service though! Rooms cleaned daily. Don't expect UK finish to rooms. Food you'll be ok if you're not fussy. Breakfast. My goto was freshly cooked eggs on toast, pastry, coffee/tea. Pancakes available, porridge type gruel. Cereal, yoghurt, chicken or beef sausage, salad, variety of egyptian compounds broad beans in tomato paste, beans in oil, other random things looking rather similar! Snack bar was burgers, pizza, chips, pitta with a mince beef/herb concoction. Lunch/Dinner was a mixture of odd compounds too ie: rice stuffed pepper, lamb, beef, chicken, duck & fish type dishes, like calamari with whole cooked crab shells and pasta with various herb sauces. As only potatoes were usually roasted scallops, roast, mash or in a bland sauce. Couple of soups, Bread, salad, sauces and plenty of the usual ai colourful but unimaginably dull flavour sweets. Very limited on cheese! They had a carvery, pizza and pasta station. 3 x Al'acart restaurant available, 1 once a week on ai (book early as poss) book at least 3/4 days earlier. Italian, Egyptian and Chinese, however the Chinese when I booked, the hotel booking lady said there was a €40 exit charge each for the Chinese, and that only the Italian and Local were ai. I said no thanks and stood up to leave, the price was halved to €20 each without show cooking - 4 courses of Starter, Soup, Main & Sweet! The €20 each extra was for a different set menu! It was actually quite nice however small portions & noodles are linguine spaghetti not noodles! Only 2 or 3 items on the menu per course so not a lot of choice. Late dinner was available, which consisted of a stew/broth usually labelled as curry, rice, rice stuffed peppers and breads. Also some salad. There's a ice-cream/cake/sweet restaurant. Ai restaurant type sweets. Plastic crockery and metal cutlery, not sure of their cleaning regime. I did use and to no adverse effect but questionable on hygiene! Drinks! Variety of coffees/chocolate from vending machines in the restaurant, seemed reasonably good quality. Hot water tea & milk. Soft drinks, seemed good quality. Beer/lager, ok drinkable, seemed low abv% Spirits. Pretty good for cleaning paint brushes I'd imagine but wouldn't recommend drinking them! Gin was passable but the tan out of tonic water for 3 days. Wine: Almost as good as a very cheap table wine. Cocktails are a real hit and miss depending on the barman and tips but the best were in the lobby bar, along with their only list of cocktails. Did manage to get a long island made on our last day which was ok. With the liquids they're given there's only so much fruit juice can mask! On fruit juice it's OK, concentrated but okay! Hygiene again, plastic beakers and glasses when busy are rinced off and put back out for service! The pool barman rinsed with the tap then rinced with either beer or soda before pouring! Don't know if they're cleaned every evening, again I did use and to no adverse effect but questionable on hygiene! I had no adverse effects with the ice in drinks either. So a mixed bag really. Kids club on site but never used it. Daily animation team doing Stretches in the pool, Exercises and some Zumba. Animation Team were the evening entertainment too. A bit disappointing but the animation team tried. Kids disco, Adults doing music games etc. Bit of disco. Had a violin player for a couple of hours by the al'acart restaurants 1 evening. Tip for better service £€$ or local equivalent of a £1 or 2. When paying they tend to price in euros before their own egy, I used either $1 bills or egy for tips dependingontheservice. Coins they have to convert with holiday makers for transferable notes. So dollars or egy best, but any tips welcomed! Waiter/Bar/Room Cleaner/Chef/Towel guy. (Taxi, Restaurants, guides 10%) ie tipped cleaner on day 1 200egy, any room problems or requests dealt with ASAP, room spotlessly cleaned and some great towel art and daily fully restocked fridge/tea/coffee! Waiter's attentive and refilled glass or another before running out. Chef knows how you like your food cooked, Towel guy reserves your pool bed etc... I has some English £ notes and some ($5 notes) which they gratefully exchanged for £1 coins and $1 bills taken in tips! Don't bother changing money in UK you'll be ripped off by 1/3 of your £ before you get ripped off there lol 😆. I got 42 egy to the £ in the UK. ATM in Egypt I got 60 (the exchange rate at the time) There's an ATM in reception. 2 next to each other. Use the 1 on the left (larger machine) and only withdraw a max of 2000 egy at a time. Any larger and it's prone to decline but still charge but receipt says it hasn't (you'll get it back but can take upto 3 days) Unless it's a fixed price store haggle! Hotel shop will take your money with a smile and give you a free sweet as you paid what they asked. Yes haggle there too! Stick to your guns and walk away if you're not happy with the price! Fixed price store just a few hundred yards left out of the hotel on the right. Other shops around you haggle. Example cigarettes. In the hotel shop they'll charge around £6 a pack, unless you haggle, even then about £3.50. Bargain until you see the fixed price store at £1.44 a pack and if you want to test your haggling I got £1.25 opposite! Beach isn't much to speak of, take gel type shoes for in the sea as it's a bit rocky, could do with a good few tonnes of sand and would be lovely (must be a shortage of sand available in Egypt 😆) Heard someone at the pool complaining about charge of a euro at the beach for alcoholic drinks, didn't have this myself but only had 1 at the beach bar, as didn't bother using the beds there. Didn't see it as a problem as I tend to tip in any case! Pools are OK, not deep. 3 pools with slides but saw little use. 3 jacuzzi areas, 2 working again nothing special. When you leave the hotel, first thing that greets you is the sewage smell before the taxi drivers! Easy to hail but agree the price first. Be firm with the sellers in the hotel, shops, spa, fish spa, tattoo and excursion reps will try to corner you daily at the pool or beach too! If you want to see the pyramids, go to Cairo or snorkel, see the stars out in the desert, whatever. You go to them! Look it up before you go for pricing and don't agree with anything you don't want! Late departure flight so booked a late room, given a price of $35 for 5 hours. Tried to pay in egy £ but wouldn't except their own currency had to be in foreign which seemed odd. Egypt travel tips! First time in Egypt? (Not inc sharm) At the airport, after you depart the plane and the usual mile walk (thrombosis preventer) go straight to the official visa desks to the right before the reps on the left however much they say you must come this way! A visa is $25. You can pay in any currency £$€ or egy etc. At the official booths they will give you the correct change in local currency. Then go back to the reps to get your residency cards which you fill in for each traveller before customs! Another tip here, make sure take a pen/biro with you too in your hand luggage for this! If anyone approaches you at baggage collection, unless they're official ignore them. After collection if you want your cases carried rather than wheel them yourself, expect a hand out for their services! £1, $1, €1, 50 egy! Same if you have even pre booked transfer a couple of £ is welcomed from the driver! If you're a smoker don't follow the smoking area sign upstairs, it's a private room and you have to buy a drink to use it ($9 for a beer). As you approach the departure gates on the ground level, there are around 4 smoking lounges/tiny rooms to smoke in! Duty free shops don't take egy £. They also can be haggled down with cash £$€. Safe travels and Don't Panic! X
