I had been eyeing this resort for sometime as I wanted away from the mainstream hustle and bustle, the size of the resort was right as well as location etc. A long way from Vancouver but three flights later I was not disappointed. It was a 30minute ride to the resort from Santo Domingo Airport. I was early to the hotel but Yoan made my checkin seamless and friendly. I was able to enjoy the sports lounge, have something to eat while waiting . I was so looking forward to my two weeks of much needed RnR. I did not ask for an ocean view room but was provided one, in front of the animation stage, which in and of itself is a benefit as you can watch the shows from your balcony. However, if it is quiet you want and early nights then this is not the room. The management went above and beyond my expectations for my birthday for which I am humbly grateful, it was so special thank you! I did have to ask on the Saturday to be moved as I was not sleeping well with the noise of the shows and it is close to the main pool and bar which is open until 11. Diseney, the Guest Relations Manager was very professional and kind in relocating me to a much quieter side of the hotel with even a nicer view, again something I did not ask for. All the staff at this resort are friendly and very professional and are there to make your vacation special. Thank you to Nelly, Santo and Maria at the sports lounge where I enjoyed my nightcap. Santo is very entertaining to watch. The Buffet The food was always fresh with a fairly good variety for someone who had just started a low carb high protein diet. I must admit I had to have the rice pudding and flan when I did see it - delicious! The Sunday seafood buffet was very good. Thank you to the hard working chefs and staff, especially Silvia and Jose who always found me lime. The a La Carte’s La Costa Tex Mex The first thing I noticed and management can correct me if I’m wrong but there was no way up other than the stairs, so not mobile friendly for someone with issues. However, the food and the ambiance are amazing. I had the mahi mahi which was very flavourful but a little over cooked, the tortilla soup was delicious as was the cheesecake. The Dominican Oh my what can I say? I had the goat stew - it has the most amazing flavours and the meat was so tender! It came with rice and I had the coconut candy for desert which also was very good. The only recommendation I can make is offer 1/2 size portions for the lighter eater. I couldn’t finish all of it. The Mediterranean The tomato soup was excellent (I had it twice) the pork tenderloin was very flavourful but dry. The one time I went there I had the seafood pasta which was very good. Recommend to offer half portions for lighter eaters as again way too much and I couldn’t finish it. I had the Crème de Caramel for desert the first night. Very good. Thank you Francisco- you made my dining experiences so pleasurable. The pools are kept clean, and I preferred the quiet one and the beach is nice. They may have to dredge some of the sea grass in the water as it is getting close to shore. I met many people from locals who liked to come with their families on weekends to others from Germany, Italy and New Zealand, a few from Montreal and many from the US. One general recommendation for your room: as they renovated all rooms they removed the drawers for clothes. Bring a folding shelf that hangs in your closet. A life saver if you don’t want to live out of your suitcase. I read that on a review here so took heed to that. Thank you to my maids. You kept my room spotless and always provided me with bottled water. I never had issues with hot water, clean towels or the air conditioning. I travelled solo for my 66th birthday, ,got the rest and relaxation that I came for and had no issues whatsoever. I recommend this resort as it is a good mixture of people of all ages . There is a night club that opens at 10:30 or 11:00 inside the Sports Lounge. As I like to dance bachata and merengue, the next time I’m there I’ll definitely stay up for it. “Family vacation”

A family member had purchased this family vacation package. At arrival, we discovered that there were additional perks with the package. We were escorted to a seperate check-in location and were then escorted to our rooms. We were on the top floor and our room was two levels. A bed & bath was upstairs - anyone with knee or hip problems might have difficulty - the steps had no hand rail & they had a circular ninety degree bend that was narrow. A sofa, chairs and 2nd bath was downstairs. We did discover an ant problem (in fact multiple family members experienced also) and due to the humidity, the floor tiles would sweat. The hot water was scarce on occasion. Our mattress was too hard and they didn't offer any topper. The food was so, so. If you're Dominican, you'll like it more. The variety was not that great. Be sure to pass through the buffet to get to the live cook station - food there sometimes gave some variety. The specialty Mexican restaurant was excellant. We didn't get to try the other one - the reservation desk takes the reservations each morning - even though my husband was first in line, he was told there were no times available for an early seating. The lady there was not friendly and obviously made some exceptions to the rules for someone else. The meal staff was exceptional - Jose, Luna, Silvia, Wilson! I found the entertainment to be lack luster - and in Spanish - but other family members had a good time with it. The beach area was nice - if you get in the water, wear swim shoes - there are sharp rocks around. The pool is nice. As typical, it seems many locals are there on the weekend so the pool is crowded and the buffet lines are packed - and with many children. The drive from the Santiago airport was about 30 minutes. Would I go back - probably not.
