“The perfect, laid back beach vacation.”

We came for a 3 generation birthday getaway..grandmother, daughter, granddaughter. This place is gorgeous and the staff were phenomenal. The beach is to die for...white, soft sand, warm sandy bottomed ocean...in the week we were there, we often felt like we had the beach to ourselves. There are nice walks to either side of the resort, hang a left and there's a little town, hang a right and you can walk among free grazing horses ( my highlight!). As vegans, we did not go hungry...there were always options. We loved that it was an all inclusive that wasn't a "party place"(at least not in the week we were there)...it was very low key, respectful and peaceful. I have to give a huge shout out to our Air Canada rep at the resort, Iliana De Luna...she was excellent and always available in her communications and help. She even managed to locate my favourite beach shirt that I'd managed to leave on a shuttle bus!

“Great stay”

We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks in January. We landed at the Samana airport. The ride to the hotel is about 90 minutes. Check in was quick. The personnel at the reception was very nice. We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks in January. We landed at the Samana airport. The ride to the hotel is about 90 minutes. Check in was quick. The personnel at the reception was very nice. We had a room in building 5, which was renovated. Room: Very nice room. Big balcony with view of the garden. Always hot water. Cleaning was done everyday. Except for the bottled water, we did not use the beers/soft drinks in fridge. The lady left us a couple of bags of coffee every day. We were very satisfied with the room. Currency: There is an ATM near the reception where you can take pesos with your visa debit card (PIN as to be 4 numbers) The personnel at the reception changed for smaller bills. The exchange is almost the same as at home. Las Galeras: The town is about 15 minutes from the resort on a path following the beach. There are a few banks, stores (we bought Dominican rum and coffee cheaper than at the airport), souvenirs and restaurants. Grounds: Beautiful. Well kept with birds and turtles and fish. It is very nice to walk around. Beach: The sand area is kind of narrow. A few spots in the shade. The rest of the beach was on grass with plenty of chairs, trees for shade. The water was clean and angel fish swimming around us which was cool. Not many sellers but the horses from the farm near the resort. We liked that. Oh and the dogs. There were 2-3 dogs that were nice and well behaved. We secretly gave them food. Personnel/Animation: The personnel is super friendly. They go out of their way to please you. The animation team was great. I wish the activities at the pool and at the beach were not at the same time in order to participate to all the activities. The bars served all kinds of drinks, there also, the bartenders were very friendly. Show: When we went, there were no general shows. At the bar, every night was a mini show, karaoke, silent disco, singers. I did enjoy myself a lot and participated every day. After there was disco at the beach, but we did not go. Food: Last but not least. We went to the buffet except for one night. The food was just OK. At the beginning of our stay, it was so so. The food was good but sometimes you kind of noticed the lunch was made with last night leftovers. Towards the end of our stay, there was a lot more variety and very good meals. I preferred to go to the buffet as I can eat what I want. I found the buffet was better than the A la carte. There was seafood every night, lamb stew, chicken, beef, pork and lots of salads. Not much cheese at first but more towards the end of our stay. Every morning they made eggs and omelets and there was smoothies with fresh fruits. Always pineapple, watermelon, papayas, bananas, and my favourite passion fruit. We enjoyed every minute of our stay.

“Pretty good vacation”

A legit 4-star hotel. Very clean, friendly staff. The beach is excellent, almost no waves and seaweed. Plenty of sunbeds on the beach, no need to reserve. The beach is pretty clean, a mixture of send and lawn. Lots of vegetation and palms. No sun huts, but you can always find shade. Not a lot of pe… more

A legit 4-star hotel. Very clean, friendly staff. The beach is excellent, almost no waves and seaweed. Plenty of sunbeds on the beach, no need to reserve. The beach is pretty clean, a mixture of send and lawn. Lots of vegetation and palms. No sun huts, but you can always find shade. Not a lot of people, I would estimate ~50% occupancy, may be more. No crowds, pretty quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The food was good quality, but rather limited, yet enough. There could be more fruit and more food for kids, but this wasn't a drastic problem or anything. The fresh juices were so so. The rooms were clean with enough space. The hotel is rather eco oriented. Night entertainment was okay, shows weren't loud and didn't go too late to bother people going to bed earlier. Overall very nice experience, would definitely recommend coming.
