Had a wonderful one week vacation at Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada. The hotel and resort was clean at all times, the service was beyond expectations. Furthermore, the staff and conceriges at the hotel and resort were incredibly friendly. There were no issues that we experienced throughout the week we stayed there. We had the pleasure of having the amazingly talented, extremely friendly and wonderful Orlando taking care of us when we stayed the one week. He was beyond incredible, he constantly went above and beyond and he was very actively checking in on us and made sure we were having a good stay and we had no issues. Would definitely return to Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada for another vacation.

Bastian was of great help, everyone was really friendly and helpful. If you want to have a great time with family and friends this is the time. Bray from front desk was amazing, he is really funny and sweet. Definitely coming back. Recommended

Stayed for 6 days at the end of May for a quick all-inclusive getaway. Been to many AIs in both Mexico and Dominican over the years and do prefer the Iberostar chain which is one reason we chose the Costa Dorada. Beach was clean and walkable, plenty of beach chairs and palapas if you wanted to just sit and bake in the heat. Pool was warm but that is more an effect of the weather, one noticeable negative and one of the reasons I gave it only 4 stars is the pool was filthy, cloudy water various things floating in it, at any time there is clumps of hair that would stick to you, all sorts of bugs, food, cotton balls etc. Occasionally you would see someone running a skimmer across in the morning but it was if the filter did not work at all. You could smell it did have chlorine in it and there was no algae to be seen, still absolutely no way you would want to put your head under that water. Plenty of loungers, seemed to be less of a towel game than we've experienced at other resorts which is nice. Did manage to get a few insect bites both around the pool and in the room, mosquitos I guess but you never see them. Room Air conditioning - this needs its own paragraph. There's a rotary switch on the headboard with 3 settings: Off - Low - High - High is kind of noisy but tolerable. Here's the thing, during the day the system puts out ice cold air, room is freezing which is fine if you like it like that and you can always turn it down or off. Come evening time the A/C gets warmer and warmer to the point it's barely cooling. This happened every day by 9 at night it was warm and if you were lucky it would start getting cool at 2-3 in the morning again. Room Dead quiet at night, but backing onto the construction of a new hotel next door which began every day at ~6:00AM Sunday included made it less comfortable to use the balcony during those hours but there are many better places to be during the day anyway. Pillows were not great but that is more of a personal preference, beds comfortable, sheets nice. Maid service was great left the room clean always, mini bar refreshed every second day all good. Bars were usually busy and this was complicated by having only 1 bartender at any time of day, this includes the swim-up so at times getting drinks could be challenging. This resort also caters to families and large groups of locals, this seemed to start Friday afternoon and continued mostly through the weekend they also open the resort to cruise passengers which arrive by the busload on days that ships are in port, showing up in the morning but having to scurry back to the ship for Entertainment people were usually down at the beach so didn't interact much, did occasionally watch the crazy pool games in the afternoon. Didn't see any night shows, they start at 9:30 and after having seen many a Michael Jackson show etc. we didn't feel we were missing much. Smoking/vaping was evident at times but neither my wife or I found it intolerable at any time. The gym was well equipped although not airconditioned so be aware it can be hot in there. Grounds were beautifully kept and Resort was the right size for us, not too small there are not quiet areas to be found but not so large as to require a tram to get to a restaurant. Specialty Japanese chef was a great performer and the service was top notch, though the food was overly salty which made it no repeat. Mexican was mediocre again not worth a repeat. Italian salmon was good. Buffet and snack bar were both very good for any meals, lots of choice, always something good to eat, actually had snow crab (cold) one night, just as an FYI, neither one is air conditioned. Plenty of seating, service was kind of hit or miss, staff not overly friendly and at times just did the minimum required of them - tipping did help this somewhat and it appeared during our time there most guests did not tip at all. Check-in was easy, did most of it online, had emailed a room choice about 2 weeks before and the resort did their best to honor our request. As for the bars, beer on tap was Presidente, drinks were somewhat limited as they didn't have the ingredients or know how to make anything other than the standard pina colada, Miami vice etc. (and even then sometimes they were 'interesting' variations on those) All in all we found this to be great value for the money as we paid about 2/3 what it would have cost for the same level of resort in Mexico.
