We are currently at the Venus Beach Hotel [2nd visit]. The staff work extremely hard with what they have, but as regards service, you can’t fault it. Remember, this is Cyprus, and there will be a cultural difference to what you are used to. Just chill and relax, you’re on holiday. Yes the rooms are tired, and it’s not 5*, and I did have to report that one of the managerial staffs dog had done both a number 1 & 2 [not in the same place] in a corridor. The entertainment stops at 11.00pm, and it was not loud. You are not paying 5* prices to stay here, remember that when you book. If you require a much quieter resort, then next time do some research first. Would I come back - yes.

Great hotel, lovely scenery. Poor customer service no one in the staff actually smiles or makes you feel welcome. one disabled bay for the hotel always abused. The pool staff had no concept that they were there to serve us behind the bar, and complained if we spoke loudly or played music, so much so they complained to management that due to this they could not hear their cash tills!!. however it may be prudent to employ person(s), who can afford a rare smile

Very honest review from a well travelled family of 5, (kids ages 18,15,11) I can safely say that this is definitely NOT a 5* hotel, OK it’s not the worst, by its definitely down there on our list. This hotel ‘could be’ great, but it’s being run on a shoe string and this sadly impacts the whole experience as well as the workers morale and attitude, who clearly have their hands tied. In all the hotels we’ve stayed in this is the only 5* hotel to have a mini bar in the room that’s totally EMPTY - it’s not even switched on. Apparently you have to pre-order this and pay for this, which totally defeats the point of a minibar, and to pay for it even as an AI guest. If you’re an all inclusive guest, you will have limited dining options, with just 1 main buffet restaurant and 1 x daytime snack bar included, not what was promised online when we booked through Easyjet Holidays. The Italian is NOT included in your AI package, and the Greek snack bar is chargeable in the evenings, and whilst the sun sets. The lovely online photos of calamari and premium cocktails are misleading , these are **NOT included** under your All Inc package and are in fact chargeable! We ate out twice to break up the monotony of the 1x buffet restaurant. Entertainment wise, there’s NO daily entertainment team, there’s a dart board but NO darts (too dangerous apparently but yet they have a dart board up), there is a pool table but you need to have cash to buy tokens from reception to play on it, you can not buy tokens using a card for some some bizarre reason. If you wish to use the tennis courts of an evening (when it’s cool enough to play) there is a charge for the flood lights. The evening entertainment consists of a DJ (of retirement age), who simply clicks on the same play list every night, it was dull as dishwater. We ended up over the road at the Irish Bar which had more of a pulse. DT’s bar (Scottish themed) is across the road too and they have a ‘Grumpy Hour’ 4-6pm €2 pint, they will also put on a sports channel if you ask them nicely. The hotel rooms are actually a decent size and decorated quite nicely, the beds are comfortable and the shower is powerful. The beach is sandy and very nice, you have to option of waves (body-boarding worthy, not suitable for children under 10yrs imo), or the much calmer sea within the man-made coved off area. The hotel is fairly remote, positioned right by a dual carriageway to the front of it, and there’s Lidl a stones throw away. It’s a bus or taxi ride away to the harbour or main town. €15 euros to the harbour each way (x5 passengers). There’s a public bus (615) if you wish to go to Coral Bay and back. A shout out to Alex the concierge who helped us navigate where things were locally and to the girls at the poolside bar who were very friendly. The reception team (except 1 lady) we found to be quite sarcastic and hostile. You can not loan an iron or steamer for your room, instead they have an ‘ironing room’ behind reception, never known this before for a 5* hotel. Some guests near our room were selfishly smoking weed during their stay, the hotel smelt of it, so unless the staff were nose blind they clearly tuned a blind eye to it. A serious word of warning to anyone travelling here, if you are down the beach late (dusk+) keep your possessions close to you and don’t leave your teenagers down there alone after dusk. There’s no hotel security along the border of hotel and along the promenade. The lack of security contributed to a homeless man hanging around the pool, he’d sneaked in for a free breakfast and swam in the pool for best part of the day until bar staff and the life guard eventually asked him to leave. I didn’t see any signs stating that the pool is for *guests only* btw, so you’re sharing the hotel & pool with locals and anyone else who fancies wondering in, including the local waifs and strays. Hotel wise, there’s a lot better out there!
