“Main Lobby Coffee shop”
I spent 2 beautiful weeks at Fiesta Americana. My first stop every morning was the coffee shop. Midiala, Yainy, & Yoslady always greeted me with a smile and the best” Cafe Con Leche”. Thank you girls for making my day!

When we visited Cuba we had split our stay between Habana and Varadero. This hotel was recommended to us for what we were searching for within our budget and location. When we arrived in Varadero we when to check in, which had a very long wait at reception. Once we got seen we were taken to our room where we left our luggage to go find somewhere to eat. The resort has a number of different restaurants available. We chose to go to the lighthouse situated in the centre of the resort. At this point we were told we had to make a reservation back at reception so we made our way there. Unfortunately, we were told we had to book dinner by 3/4pm although we had arrived to the resort by 5pm (not including the wait) and the receptionist wasn't helpful or accommodating. We went straight back to the lighthouse where we spoke to a member of staff who were happy to squeeze us in. The food was delicious but ruined by the earlier experience! Following our dinner we went to the main hall where all the shows were to have a nice cocktail or two. (Little tip; if you tip them well you get a better service! even 5 CUC which is the equivalent of approx £1 is more than they earn in a week!). What you'll experience there is a lot of drunken Canadians including children as there is no age limit for alcohol! The next day, with a few other couples from the same tour group as us had a complaint as it was too noisy with all the kids running up and down the corridors shouting. There was also a few issues with the other couples rooms!. Because of this we all were upgraded to the VIP section of the resort! We were told to bring our luggage to the private reception and wait for the rooms to be cleaned. At first this wasn't an issue and all went smoothly until that evening when our room was infested with bugs! We called reception and were told someone would attend soon. 2 hours someone came to fumigate our room. The next day we complained regarding the matter and were provided another room. From this point everything was a lot better. The VIP/private section has its own restaurant and bar/lounge area exclusive for the guests staying there so it was nice and quiet. It also has it's own lagoon area which isn't overcrowded at all and nice and relaxing. We went all inclusive so were able to order as many meals as required. Do note that there was an issue with orders due to the restrictions from the US, so when I ordered the lemon lobster, it was a plain lobster as the rations of lemons had already been used. The resort is lovely overall, and there are many activities to do in Varadero like fishing, swimming with dolphins and catching a show. You can also do the classic car tour, where you are picked up by a classic car, taken to a restaurant to dine then taken to a show and back to the hotel again. We went for a convertible (which was a bit extra) but was well worth it. The service was a bit slow when you request something but in other aspects very good such as the staff cutting down fresh coconuts for you to drink. We also took one to the bar and asked for the bartender to pour us a shot in but they gave us the WHOLE bottle!

“i like just dancing”

Besides woman in "customer service," she is the rudest person I've ever met. Super impolite, and can not help with anything. But others are trying their best. Honestly knowing how hard it is in Cuba they trying. The animation is wired, I would say almost no animation at all during the day. Most of the time guys are dancing on their own. but one young guy, from animation team full of energy. while everyone is super lazy he is always dancing, teaching, trying his best to do the actual job. He was working hard and always sooooooo positive. I think his name is Dayron (i hope they promote him). Plus again about nice people. I want to say thanks to a lifeguard - Arnaldo who took care of us during our drunk swim cross in the storm plus he is a great dancer.... he definitely should have a double salary for lifeguards and dancing... because he does entertainer job as well.

My husband and I just returned from staying at the Blau Varadero (Sept 14 to the 21, 2019). We travelled with good friends of ours who had never been to the resort or Varadero and let me tell you they, like us were disappointed. We had one of the newly renovated rooms on the 8th floor facing the pool and ocean, lovely but to get there was a chore. The ELEVATORS ARE TERRIBLE. Now let me start by saying the brochure advertised one hour FREE internet in the lobby area, "NOT" you need to purchase a card at the cost of $1 peso, no big deal but if you get an hour your lucky (not happening) and also poor poor internet service when and if you can get on the internet. Ok, I know it's Cuba and the food leaves a lot to be desired but really no variety and you would think that management would read the reviews and make some improvements. You see management everywhere standing and chatting amongst themselves but are they really making notice (don't think so). The food was either tasteless or TOO TOO SALTY. No swim up bar, yes I know, but the days that we were there I only encountered one day with pool side service and that only lasted one round of drinks. Also, if this is an "Adult" resort why is the lobby bar closing before 12 midnight? Couldn't believe it and we even went up to the bartender to get a drink and was told that the bar was closed and my friend asked the bartender for a glass and he would pour his own beer. That was totally unacceptable especially given that there were still quite a few people in the bar area. Really management!! . Also the 24 hour bar by the beach where you can supposedly get food after hours, only grill cheese, not even a hamburger or fries. NOT GOOD. I could go on but I think you get the message. The only saving grace are the great people that work on the resort from the front desk, to cleaning staff, to night turn down service, to restaurant servers and some bartenders. Thank you to all of those servers and housekeepers they are all very hard workers and pleasant. It will be a while before we travel back to Varadero and if we do unfortunately we will NOT be coming back to the Blau.
