It looks like from the reviews that this isn't a great place to stay overnight. We were in the area and stopped by to check out the live music coming from the courtyard. We took a table near the non-functional fountain that was loaded with music equipment and wires. We had the pina coladas (which had added caramel to them, nice touch) and the Mojitos. Both drinks were fantastic and the beers were cold. The bartenders were very welcoming and attentive. As this was in Varadero, the drinks were a tad pricier than usual (4-5 CUC per cocktail) but made up for it with the live music (band with a guy in short shorts and combat boots singing Bon Jovi songs, was actually pretty awesome) and great drinks.

“Nice courtyard for a drink in downtown Varadero”
While wandering around downtown Varadero stop in here for a drink or a bite to eat. The courtyard provides a classy and quiet atmosphere (depending on how close you might be to one of the loudspeakers. It looks like it would also be a good place to eat, but we didn't have a chance to do that.
