“Needs better service”

This is a nice hotel with very spacious rooms and bathrooms. However it feels a little soulless and the service is sadly lacking did a 5 star. This is a nice hotel with very spacious rooms and bathrooms. However it feels a little soulless and the service is sadly lacking did a 5 star. It was also disappointing that the pool and private beach is shared with the adjoining hotel which made it very busy. Breakfast has a lot of good choices but it’s a buffet with no table service which again made everything very hectic which is not what I’d expect from a 5 star hotel.

Although it was opened in 2011, I would think that it is poorly maintained, but the hotel is in excellent condition. Everything is arranged in perfect order from the arrival, the removal of the car by the staff to a more distant parking lot, the reception and their explanation, the DJ in the lobby (I admit that I have never seen it and it is very excellent feeling), spacious and tidy rooms. The staff at restaurant E is very well dressed, professional and kind (especially the waiter Ivan who explained everything to us), the breakfast is plentiful. It's interesting that we probably came at rush hour for breakfast, so it was crowded in the restaurant and then you realize how many guests are in the hotel, but there is so much privacy in the rooms that you don't even know that the hotel is full. I have two complaints and a related review. The first complaint is that it is a dog friendly hotel (I didn't know) and that animals roam around the hotel and some bark at night. Another complaint is the cocktail bar to the right of the entrance, which has no soul at all, and it should be worked on to transform the space with some movement, because I guess the designer put it there just to fill the space.

Good shower and bath Malin and goetz products Concierge Ana - excellent pre and post arrival - responded very quickly to all questions etc Staff at pool bar very friendly and helpful NOT SO GOOD Said light sleeper - given room 102 right next to bar - after first night said concern noise from bar - given earplugs - which seemed to be readily available - odd if they do not get complaints Second night - noise till 12.15am - then more distant sound of night club? AM after noise, girl on reception not particularly apologetic - said would have to refer to her manager and we would need to come back at 10am. Went back at 10am different chap said would move us. Moved to room 409 - better - although noise from music at the stage on Friday night - but finished around 10.30 so not too bad Weird logo everywhere? Looks like a bottle you would pee in? 2 hangers each - asked for more No drawer space to put your stuff in. People seem to be allowed to smoke on their balconies? Pool area - shared with next door hotel - full of kids and families - especially Saturday - no policing of children in adult supposed pool? Jumping in screaming, not conducive to 5 star experience. Could not get bed at pool initially as people had saved beds and then did not arrive for hours? We did send a message to TUI about this. It was better on the Sunday and subsequent days. Style? Over substance- all chairs in rooms restaurants public areas reception are blooming uncomfortable, the ones in reception you feel like you are lying down Weird system with pool towels - you have to give your room number they write this down but you also have to flash your room card? You cannot get towels till 10 even though the pool is open at 9 Overall I would not rate as 5 stars and if we were to stay in Rovinj again would go back to the Grand Park where we have stayed before

Beware - long review. Beautiful looking place but importantly, everything - truly everything - is form over function. The logo says it all. Google it. Designer gone mad and ordinary people believing the hype. Nasty stick on lines on the glazing. Meant to be a heart logo - it looks pretty cheap and nasty. The epitome of the form over function lies with the kettle - it is perhaps 35cm tall so filling from a cup is essential. I suggest it would be nice to be supplied with a jug that fits beneath the tap to do so. Enormous echoing entrance with a little bar in the corner as some sort of after thought. One level down is the main restaurant - here a magnificent breakfast is served - my personal tastes meant I ate like a Queen throughout our stay. But don't expect anything that is meant to be hot, to be anything over slightly warm. I discovered on our last day that a buffet evening meal is also served here. Nothing anywhere to advertise that fact. Outdoors. Grounds are neat. Shared pools (as advertised) but inviting. Free tap water. Stony beach but immaculate. Forest on the doorstep for walking or cycling lovely right next to the sea. 15 minutes stroll into town - which is beautiful - an absolute gem. Bedroom: spacious with a nice balcony and lovely view over the tree tops (level2). Very comfortable bed. Pillows are very large (too large for me to sleep with). No other choices tucked away in the cupboards. Three wardrobes and a space for the suitcases and a chair at a desk - but absolutely nowhere to put your knickers - no drawers at all. Had to send out for more hangers as each wardrobe only had two. They appeared quickly. Service overall- good. I suggest a small investment in pop up storage that can fit on the bottom shelf of the wardrobes to contain t-shirts and underwear would be useful for guests. No vacuuming of room, just a squeegee to move the carpet around; often, cups and detritus not removed/replaced. This is biggest let down - coming back at 3pm to the same dirty cups as at 9am. Just one bottle of water a day from room service - they do pop by to ask if you want anything in the evening, but do not provide water. It is available at reception. Polite and attentive staff. Except in the "wellness" area (indoor pool). Lucky to get a hello. Nice pool though. Didn't try the exercise stuff. No parking available when we arrived so car was whisked away. When we needed it we just asked for it to be delivered. Didn't know whether to expect a E16 daily parking charge or not. Delighted to report, the bill did not include any parking charge. This aspect of the hotel reached 5* with prompt, polite service. Overall a pretty tired hotel; TV doesn't cast (but is meant to and nobody can fix it); balcony just as it was installed rather than maintained. The seats are 6" off the ground and cannot be sat in for that reason, but also the strings that make it are all loose so one sits on a timber stringer. Plywood seats in restaurant; low sofas etc in public areas - never saw anyone other than children on them. Bit of a "job lot". It would be easy to have updated things bit by bit as they wore out. But that does not appear to have happened. It has been suggested there is a refurb in two years - one hopes this means appropriate storage in a hotel room; a public area that encourages guests to converse with each other - known in other hotels as the "bar". But if the designer gets heartily involved again, the hotel will continue to be style over substance - probably with a much higher price tag (see the Grand prices). We do choose to stay in 5* hotels, for facilities, peace & quiet and attention, but Lone does fall short of 5 star by some margin. It caters for conferences out of season and this seems obvious once this fact it known - it is more like a posh commercial hotel. Rovinj is beautiful - access to it is easy. Here a "pint" of beer is around 6.50-7E - pop into the middle of Istria to pay 2.50E. Prices here reflect the money hotels are charging their guests, not the earning capacity of the locals. Rovinj is a pricey holiday destination. Read less Tip: Ask for many, many hangers on arrival; ask for a jug to fill the kettle, fresh milk is available if you ask; the drinks at the Reception are refreshing; expect 4* and be wowed.
