My girlfriend and I were visiting Rovinj for a weekend and stopped by an accident. We could not find a decent, quiet and comfortable place to eat in town center so we decided to go for a walk by the shore towards the hotel. We decided to stop by for a drink and maybe something to eat because the music was so relaxing and appropriate for a beautiful summer evening. Besides that, seats were so clean and comfy. We ordered cocktails first and the waiter Andria brought us snacks (crackers and homemade dips) which was so delicious so we could not resist to eat something as well. We ordered chicken and ćevapi with french fries. We could not believe that such a simple meal can be so exquisitely prepared and presented. We would like to especially give gratitude to the personnel who made us feel extremely cozy and like royalty. If you ask us, this is the perfect place to have nice cold drinks and tasty food with a breathtaking view of old city of Rovinj.

We recently stayed here for a week in a Premium Seaview Room. Lets get the not so positive (for us anyway) observations out of the way first: The hotel is without doubt beautifully designed and situated in one of the most stunning areas of Rovinj, if not Croatia however this is at the expense of basic functionality and comfort that you would expect at this price point. For context we have been lucky enough over our many years of travelling to have stayed in many 5* properties including LHW ones and have come to expect some basic facilities at this pricing level which unfortunately were sadly lacking either due to poor design or provision such as: 1. There is very little decent seating in the whole building. Room seating consists of an uncomfortable hard bench seat and 2 camping style folding chairs, neither of which is comfortable to be seated on (even using bed pillows) for longer than 2 minutes. Restaurant seating in Laurel and Benny (breakfast) is similarly varied in high/low formats so the table is almost at your shoulder level or you’re not sitting at the same height as your dining companion or the chair is just basically uncomfortable for sitting in for any length of time. 2. The room safe is impossible to reach, it’s so high up in the wardrobe. 3. There is no desk with mirror to sit at to do hair/make up. The room has a full length mirror on the entry door but no nearby socket for a hairdryer. Only other mirror near a socket is in the unventilated bathroom which would be fine except the supplied hairdryer is not very powerful despite being “salon Style” and so heavy that you can’t hold it for more than a few minutes, however said hairdryer is useful for propping the bathroom door open to let the shower steam out! 4. There are NO English Language TV channels apart from BBC, Sky and CNN news. This is not really a problem for us as we don’t go on holiday to watch TV but may bother others so if this applies to you then brush up on your Croation/German as there are plenty of those channels! 5. The concierge lady is not very helpful. On our arrival She booked a table for us at Cap Aureo restaurant (situated within the hotel) with 3 days notice and we requested a window table (which we didn’t get although another couple next to us did with less notice and they were not even staying at Grand Park) but we were inundated with emails asking for CC details, asking us to confirm booking, reconfirm booking, plus email reminders every day until the meal. We asked her about excursions in the area and she had no idea. We later downloaded the Maistra app (QR code is in room) and found loads on there but too late, we’d already made arrangements with local suppliers. 6. Wifi doesn’t extend to the far sun terraces (if you want order drinks and food from your sun lounger using the supplied QR code) but can pick it up on the promenade some distance past the hotel’s Steak restaurant, something that could easily be fixed. 7. Bike Rental is NOT on the 3rd floor as all the signage states - it’s on the 1st floor and thankfully an employee found us looking lost and took us there personally via an emergency staircase, however it was still hidden away at the far end. It’s at the vehicle entrance/exit point in case you’re also looking and good luck trying to get to it using the lift/elevator! 8. At the Cap Aureo restaurant, we had the seven course tasting menu and as there are so many individual courses to choose from (you can have 5,7, 10 or more courses chosen from a long list) we asked the maître d’ to choose the 7 for us, only stipulation being no squid or octopus. Guess what, yes we were given squid as one of the courses. Mr W enjoyed his double squid though! 9. Breakfast service was not great, drink orders were lukewarm, Mr W only received a hot coffee once and any ordered food was generally lukewarm at best. Out of 7 breakfasts we only received drinks twice before our food arrived. Despite the above we did have an enjoyable stay, the bed was very comfy with good quality linens and large, soft towels and we played around with the 6 supplied pillows between us to get a combination we were happy with. We’d asked in advance for a high floor and quiet room with nice views which we got and it wasn’t too far from the lifts so didn’t have a trek every time we wanted to go anywhere which could easily be the case with some rooms. The sun didn’t hit the balcony until about 4pm as it was west facing but had the most fantastic views towards the old town and the wonderful sunsets. There’s a rattan beach bag in the room with flip flops to use by the pool if you wish as well as bathrobes and slippers for room/spa. The sun loungers on the sun terraces were very comfy and the parasols infinitely variable so could be adjusted to cover and provide shade/sun just where you wanted. We never had trouble finding a couple of sunbeds and food/drinks ordered were a good quality , generous portions and promptly delivered. There are also 2 “beaches” to the left of the hotel (as you exit onto the promenade from the lifts) that hotel guests can use free of charge together with loungers and parasols. Breakfast in Laurel and Berry was of a very good standard and appreciated that it was served until noon so we would often eat later in the morning which would keep us going until dinner! There was a huge selection of fruits, breads, meats, fish, cheeses, pastries, cakes, tarts, salad items plus cooked to order items like omelettes, eggs benedict, French toast etc which always arrived promptly after ordering. Our meal in Cap Aureo was very good despite the hiccup mentioned above; the sommelier was particularly good with his selection for his food/wine pairings and descriptions and stories of each wine for each course. The serving staff were friendly and professional and food very good though not exceptional. The fabulous location of the hotel cannot be underestimated, just out of hustle and bustle of Rovinj to be quietly situated but take the lift down to level 0 (the promenade level) turn right and you’re just a few minutes walk to local restaurants and a supermarket and a 10 minute flat walk to the old town. Turn left on the promenade on exiting the hotel and go past the beaches and other local hotels and you have a lovely park and coastline walks to explore. Take one of the free bikes (the mountain and city types available are free or electric bikes €15/3 hours) for a ride early in the morning before it gets too hot and paths get too crowded. The chap at the cycle rental is very friendly and helpful and will give advice on routes etc, In fact just about all the staff we encountered were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. In summary we really enjoyed our stay despite the negatives listed but at this price point some of the basic facilities and comforts one would normally expect (and do receive in more budget friendly accommodation) could be much improved in our opinion.

We booked the Grand Park Hotel as we had seen the TV programme about this hotel and it looked amazing. We booked for a week and on arrival the views didn't disappoint us. We had a beautiful room with a Seaview overlooking the Marina and the town of Rovinj. This hotel has amazing swimming pools,sauna and views from all directions. We hired electric bikes and took a trip round the coastline amazing woodland. Breakfast was good as it was from 6.30am till 12pm so you didn't have to Rush to get there it had lots of choices and the food was lovely but not always seen by the staff. For a 5 star hotel I expected more we were always chasing up the bar staff just to get a drink. We tried to get information about the speed boat dolphin trip 3 times we gave up as staff didn't have a clue. This was one of the reasons we came to Grand Park. This is a 5 star hotel & we did expect more from our 1st time in at the Grand Park we were disappointed. Rovinj was a lovely little town lovely people,nice food, lovely local wine and great views so we will return in the future.

The hotel is beautiful and very impressive, service minded and nice staff, big and beautiful rooms (preferably take rooms with sea view), the view to the old city and the sea is spectacular. The hotel covers a very wide area which makes some rooms very far from the lift. I personally have a problem with the knee and unfortunately they didn't have a room closer to the lift to change for us.
