“Enjoyed my stay …”

Had a two night stay , would have loved to stay longer .. Staff very helpful…specially the Reception…room good .. The breakfast was great , with so many choices ..as with evening Meal … Wifi .. pool .. Also bus stop close by ,take no 6 in to the old city ..,

This is the budget hotel out of the 5 Valamar hotels on this peninsular, it is for the families with entertainment for the children but nothing for adults. However adults are catered for at the other 4 hotels and are made welcome. If you like to avoid screaming kids on holiday give it a miss. The hotel has modern reception area, bar area, dining area with terrace and a well manicured outside green area with with modern pool area. The accommodation is dated and needs some money spent on it. We found the meals to be a bit of a hit and miss, with some of the waiting staff a bit surly, the brunch was the best option. The cool drink dispenser and the coffee machine are switched off at dinner so you have to purchase them. The reception staff are very friendly and professional ( Ana and Jelica know absolutely everything, they are a treasure to this hotel) . If this hotel had small bit of the money that Valamar spent on the President hotel then it would be money well spent. The other 4 Valamar hotels are worth a visit, especially the President (we enjoyed a walk around their beach and a cool beer on their terrace). there is a brilliant Chinese diner a 5 minute walk away. The no6 bus into and back from town is a experience not to missed. Give the old port a miss it's far too crowded and uncomfortable.

Overall the experience was good. The rooms are very modern, the pillows and beds are amazing in my personal opinion (based off comparisons of other hotels/villas). The reception staff are very friendly however the restaurant staff from most we encountered didn't seem the happiest. Whilst I get most people don't like to work, most seemed miserable on all 3 days we have been here. We did not encounter any other staff and therefore I cannot comment. The hotel appears to have alot on for the children which must be amazing for families. The food is adequate, hit and miss at times. This hotel wasn't the original one we booked within our TUI package and was allocated to us as a substitute. Hotel isnt bad, perfectly standard for the 3 days we stayed. I personally wouldn't pick this hotel again for me and my husband, however it may be amazing for others. In terms of value I have no idea how much this hotel costs given that our holiday is a package holiday with a substitute hotel.

Just back from a half term week stay at this hotel travelling with 2 kids under 6. Overall a good stay but with some things that could be improved Rooms: We got a sea view family room (2 interconnecting rooms) which was enough space for us for a week. We had a lovely view of the sea and could regularly see cruise ships coming in and out of the dock which we loved. Sadly we didn’t have a view of the pool which would’ve been nice. Room was very clean and a maid came daily to make beds and hoover. Bedding wasn’t changed the whole week. The bathroom door had a gap which I thought was strange. There was only a shower which wasn’t suitable with young children. Balcony was very small and only had only 1 deck chair per room so only 2 of us could sit outside. Pillows were awful and air con never seemed to get cold. Dining: For half board I think the amount of food offered is good. Breakfast is from 7am-11am and brunch is from 11am-1pm. Made to order omelettes available but only one person making them so queue did get long. Tea, coffee, orange (not fresh), apple and ice tea. Options were samey - scrambled, fried and hard boiled eggs, bacon, croissants, pastries and meats. Brunch options usually had pastas, risotto, egg on toast. Dinner however was only from 7pm-9pm which for a hotel claiming to be good for families I thought was too late. The 2 hour window meant queues for food got long and there weren’t many non-fussy eater options. The chefs did try and an accommodate on a few occasions by offering ‘plain’ dishes which my kids appreciated! No drinks available at dinner at all not even water so you had to purchase drinks from the bar. €6.50 for a glass of wine €5 for a beer €3.50 Pepsi Pool: Good amount of sunbeds but sadly water way too cold for my kids. Only spent an hour max in it for the whole week! It’s a freshwater pool and not heated. In summer it will probably be ok but the week we went was between 22-26 degrees. To get to the pool was almost impossible for anyone with mobility issues. From floor 3 (reception) to get to the pool you have to walk down a lot of stairs. I think there is a lift but it was out of order for our whole stay. This wasn’t convenient with a pram Entertainment: None in the hotel which I thought was a shame. For any form of kids entertainment you had to go to Maro World which is a 2 minute walk. As lovely as this place is for kids it’s not what I’d consider family entertainment. I spent most of the holiday watching my kids in the soft play or on the trampolines! There was no place for adults to buy a drink and relax. In the evenings they had a disco (at 8pm) and a show of some sort afterwards but again there was no where to properly sit for the adults. I felt I was in a kids party for most of it! There’s lots of games consoles for older kids and a kids club where you can leave your child but I didn’t feel comfortable doing that. We went into the kids club once and in the 3-7 year room at one point I didn’t see any staff members. If I were to leave a child there I’d expect them to be constantly supervised by at least 1 adult at that age. It is great that Maro World is included in the hotel stay. It really helped us pass time on a couple of the rainy days. It’s very well kept and clean and wasn’t too busy during our stay. The hotel does have a lobby/bar which serves drinks in the evening. There’s also some pool tables and foosball tables which are a fun addition. Location: Good location to get to old town. Be aware that the bus stop is up a steep hill though so again not great for mobility. We took the no6 which comes every 10 minutes straight to old town. €2 per adult each way. Bus coming back was always busy. We also spent a day in Lapad which was also lovely. As mentioned the hotel does have lovely views of the sea and mountains which you can see from the dining area and pool. Overall we thought the hotel was fine and we didn’t have any major issues. For the price I think it offers a good base for exploring Dubrovnik.
