This might be the best value you'll get out of a hotel for this price. The location of this hotel is unbeatable. The local bus stop is right outside on the street, and the amount of restaurants and shops within a couple minutes walking distance is amazing. You will have zero issues getting to wherever you are planning to go, and you will get there cheaply. The hotel itself is beautiful, and its main plaza is an amazing spot to hangout (especially by the pool). All the staff were more than friendly, and our stay here was perfectly comfortable. The only thing I'd suggest is to make sure to take showers nearing dark or later in the morning: the hot water runs on solar panel.

This hotel is the perfect balance between comfort and experiencing the Costa Rican Rain Forest. It's a quaint hotel with some amenities such as a pool, Jacuzzi, and breakfast in the morning. The owners are locals of the area who have been there for many years, and will jump at any opportunity to help make your experience better. AND THERE IS A/C IN THE ROOMS. I cannot recommend it enough for midrange-price travelers looking to experience Manuel Antonio in the most authentic light. Some reviews talk about the bugs and no hot water, and I think they are a bit reactionary. For the bugs: you will be staying in a rainforest. It is not easy to keep all bugs out at all times without dousing the entire forest in pesticides. You will most likely see a bug or two on your stay. However, I stayed at Divisamar for 2 weeks or so and I saw maybe 4. Secondly, the hotel room's water is powered by solar panels, so you have to wait for the shower to heat up. Just turn it on like 3-4 minutes before you plan on taking a shower. There is even a note in the shower reminding the guest of that. Lastly, the location is right on the main road with great food places and tourist gift shops all within walking distance. The local bus runs from Playa Espaldilla to Quepos and stops right outside of the hotel. Some places around are pretty pricey, but it is a bit of a tourist spot. However, if you want better prices for gifts I recommend taking the local bus into Quepos, and good breakfast/coffee/cheapish gifts can be found right next to Hotel Divisamar, at a local cafe called Cafe Milagro(This was my personal favorite).

Due to the reviews, Hotel Divisimar wasn't our first choice, but our 4 night stay with them definitely proved otherwise. We had a great, clean and safe stay with everything we needed. Cleanliness can't be underrated when you are in the jungle but there were surprisingly few bugs - even around the premises. The AC worked extremely well and they had both hot and cold water (although if you go during February you likely will not need the hot water at all). The WiFi in the room worked great and the typical Costa Rican breakfast was a nice touch. My only complaint is of the two English channels provided on the television - one of them was Fox News which is unfortunate during this time when we need as many policies as possible to preserve the beauty/health of nature and combat climate change rather than ignore it. Regardless, the staff were always approachable and helpful. The location is fantastic. The bus that takes you to the beach and National Park and costs about 60 cents per person had a stop right next door. There are two super markets within walking distance. There are plenty of quality restaurants and nightlife within walking distance as well. This was a great plus for us. The pool and grounds had great upkeep and you were able to see many animals on the grounds themselves. We saw a variety of birds, butterflies and even heard monkeys from our room. If you are lucky you will see the Toucans or the Agouti on the grounds like we did. The owner was helpful in calling tourist companies when our shuttles were late. In looking at hotel options, know that everything seems "overpriced" and with the booming tourism industry in Costa Rica, that is just the way it is. #PuraVida While this is not a luxury all-inclusive resort, it is a great, convenient and safe choice if you are looking to enjoy all Manuel Antonio has to offer!
