My family spent 5 nights here and we loved it! We stayed in suite 10 (the bungalows were too pricey for us) and it was beautiful. It's true you can sometimes hear the band at Yolo at night but we sleep w/ a noise machine so it didn't bother us. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. We enjoyed pizza by the pool, the morning breakfast (included with price of stay) was DELICIOUS, and my 13-year-old loved all the games at Yolo — giant Jenga and Connect 4, pool plus board games. We saw several different monkeys, agoutis and a raccoon, plus iguanas and lizards. It's on a touristy little strip but doesn't feel too crowded, and it was so nice to be able to walk to restaurants and shops and coffee places. Tip: Download WhatsApp before you go, that's how you'll communicate with the front desk and also how you'll order room service. The front desk folks are super helpful. When we went to the beach, I messaged for them to order me a cab to pick us up and they did, which was awesome! Also the painting class was super fun!

Incredible hotel!! I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The pool is very clean and the perfect temperature. From the pool and our room, we saw scarlet macaws, deer, agoutis, howler monkeys, white face monkeys and a raccoon! The bar has great service and yummy drinks. The restaurant on-site called Yolo was so much fun too!! It had games, a little casino and live music. There were plenty of vegan options for food. The front desk staff were super helpful and could call a taxi whenever we needed one. It was a gorgeous hotel and I cannot recommend it enough!!

My husband and I stayed here 11.24-12.1. It was wonderful! We were in bungalow #7. It was perfect. The view out was beautiful from our veranda. Listening to the birds the rain and night sounds was very relaxing. It was loud at times when items from the trees fell on the roof but to be expected. The bed was comfy the whole trip…. Like many hotel beds the first night can be okay but then afterwards not so much… not this one. The pillows PERFECT! I wish I can checked what kind so i could buy them! The pure cotton sheets also wonderful. The towels and wash cloths also so nice. Housekeeping always did such a great job with keeping our room clean. The ceiling rain head shower was so nice. We never lacked for our needs. With our package we had included breakfast. It was wonderful each morning and they were always happy to make any requested modifications to to the selections. So much food on each meal NOT skimpy! The pool and ambience was so relaxing! All of the staff were friendly helpful and accommodating. They provided pool towels and let us take them with us to the beach. Sitting at YOLO and watching/interacting with monkeys was so much fun! You have to try the local drink CHILIGUARO … their version of a Bloody Mary in a shot made from their local sugarcane alcohol is a MUST try! The alcohol is not as strong as vodka so I didn’t get drink despite drinking many haha!! I must not fail to point out my favorite staff member at ECOTICA… MELANIE RAMIREZ. she worked most mornings at breakfast and some others middays during our stay. She was precious, helpful and now my forever adopted Costa Rican “daughter “. We felt loved and truly cared for by her daily. We both cried when hugged to say goodbye. I’ll miss Costa Rica and her!! I can promise you Melanie we will see you again!! The young man who worked the reception from the day of arrival to departure (so sorry I’ve forgotten your name.. you know who you are) was also so sweet, helpful and just lovely. THANK YOU!! Why did I only give 4 stars? Really fairly minor things but annoying. On day 2 they did not restock the clean washcloths. When asked, we did receive but had to wait pretty much all day. This happened nearly daily and finally told they didn’t have enough for the property. They really need to replenish their stock. They have an outdoor repair area right behind our bungalow. Due to recent bad weather they needed to make repairs. Two days in a row during the mornings the sawing and banging was very disturbing when trying to sleep. When they chatted it sounded like they were standing right under our bathroom windows (sound travels like crazy where we stayed). We brought it to the attention to the desk and they DID promptly halt/move their tasks. They really should have their work area away from the guest lodgings. Beware… the restaurant/club YOLO is fun but they have a pool table, a big floor size connect 4 and GIANT jenga game. They are open until 11-12 at night so it was very LOUD shooting pool, partying, and startling when the jenga and connect 4 pieces hit the floor. These were situated at the back of the bar. After a long day with the sun rising at 5 ish and setting the same, it was disruptive to us as an older couple trying to rest…. Again the sound travels and YOLO is open air as most establishments are. I can’t speak for the noise for other bungalows or regular hotel rooms. All and all I cannot regret my choice of hotel. Best places to eat? El Avion hands down!! Drink and food prices are high at most places to be sure, but happy hour helps! ENJOY Costa Rica!! We WILL be back!

“Comfortable accommodation in the middle of a busy part of the Costa Rican coast”

Very good accommodation with large comfortable beds, fridge & microwave. The two restaurants provide decent food, served by very friendly and helpful staff. Spoiled a bit by the constant banging music in the main restaurant. Fortunately the music was switched off at 7 pm when a local musician too… more

Very good accommodation with large comfortable beds, fridge & microwave. The two restaurants provide decent food, served by very friendly and helpful staff. Spoiled a bit by the constant banging music in the main restaurant. Fortunately the music was switched off at 7 pm when a local musician took to the stage for the evening entertainment. The hotel is surrounded by tropical trees, plants and wildlife. Monkeys and birds are seen often. A large swimming pool provides an opportunity to cool off in the heat of the day. One problem was the lack of assistance getting two heavy suitcases from our car to the room on the second floor. The porter seemed to think such a task wasn’t part of his job description.
