“Best Place Ever!”
Amazing, I bought a room. Came every weekend for 3 years. It had a beautiful view near a great surf beach, warm pools, beautiful views, scenic experiences. It could have better cleaning and would come with some management problems. But this place never fails us.

This was our second time staying at La Paloma Blanca. We stayed here a few years ago and loved the size and location of the property. It is right on the beach - you literally just cross a dirt road and you are there. I would consider this a small to medium size property and it had four pools and a ranchito (bbq hut) that you can reserve at no additional charge. There were 20 of us in total ranging from 5 yrs to 74 yrs old. We rented four condos and were able to get a floor level poolside condo for the elders which was perfect for gathering and meals. We loved the location at the north end of town, away from the busier part of the beach. The communication with the property managers was excellent from email confirmations to check in, receiving the lockbox codes and wifi in advance. Each room had plenty of beach towels, soap, shampoo, and all the kitchen supplies including coffee filters and a starter pack of coffee. Most of our communication was with Vacasa who I assume is the Latin arm of VRBO. They even emailed me in advance offering excursions and texted the morning of our check-in with the codes again. There is a surf camp right on the beach and a beautiful shaded space under palm trees where you can enjoy the ocean view out of the sun. The only drawback was the beach - it is very rocky and very limited walkable sand in bare feet - you really need water shoes if you want to walk the beach. But there is a nice laid back vibe with lots of people and their dogs and we always felt safe. There was also a last minute change to one of our reservations where the owners needed the property on the dates we had reserved but the staff quickly helped find another room. There was a secure parking lot right across the road and we had no problems at all. There was always security - friendly guards and several cute iguanas on site. I thought the price was extremely reasonable as well for everything that is included. Highly recommend.

If you want a boutique resort with a beautiful pool, right on the beach, a short walk to a variety of good dining spots AND you happen to be in Jaco, Costa Rica….check out La Paloma Blanca. The ground floor rooms don’t have much of a view of the Pacific Ocean, while the upstairs have views that vary from good to none. But when you are less than a minute walk to the broad, sandy beach you get over it quickly. If you are a pool buff, the ground floors are the best but you better claim your lounge chair early because they fill up quickly during high season. You can book your stay directly with the management, or use one of the VRBO’s in the resort that are booked independently. Either way, you will get the advantages of 24/7 security guards at both gates, and secure, free parking. This is a good thing because you can walk to most of Jaco’s attractions. The South end of Jaco Beach is a magnet for the surfer crowd, which appears out of nowhere when the waves are good. The same crowd keeps the bars and restaurants hopping in the evenings. La Paloma Blanca is just far enough to the South end of town to be relatively quiet, and viewing the sunset from the beach is a local tradition with the residents and tourists alike. The room we booked through VRBO was nice and clean with a comfortable bed and good linens. It was on the second floor, overlooking the pool and had a glimpse of the ocean. The staff was friendly and the grounds very well maintained. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck with our morning coffee, watching the joggers, walkers, and local soccer team go up and down the beach. The furniture was dated and worn, but clean. The washer and dryer were very handy but the safe was locked open and could not be used. We wanted a unit with a kitchen, because we like to cook most of our meals, but only salt, pepper, and sugar were provided. The TV remote didn’t work in the living room, but we don’t usually watch TV on our trips. The front door lock assembly was busted completely out, leaving our access only by the door knob key. There were no door mats, which would have made sense because we could not help but to track sand into the unit from the beach and streets. A few little things, like cooking oil or butter, would have made a huge difference in our experience at La Paloma Blanca. Of course the units owned by others may be entirely different and provide a much better experience. We would not book the same unit again, but La Paloma Blanca is still a great location if you are visiting Jaco.
