This resort was truly amazing. We spent seven days here and it was absolute paradise. Everything from the staff, to the grounds, to the food was fantastic. The hot spring were amazing! So many throughout the property! The trails were nicely maintained and beautiful. Saw several birds, turtles, butterflies etc while walking through. And the iguanas that roam are the cutest! We really loved our stay here, can’t recommend it enough. We will be back!

“Very relaxing stay”

We had a lovely 3 night stay in the Los Lagos hotel. Although the resort is quite stretched out, there are not that many rooms so it does not feel crowded at all. Staff at check-in was very friendly. We had a lovely 3 night stay in the Los Lagos hotel. Although the resort is quite stretched out, there are not that many rooms so it does not feel crowded at all. Staff at check-in was very friendly. The pools are lovely and you have to try the long water slide, it is insane! Everybody who came out of it was flabbergasted. It was really nice to use the pools at night as well Rooms are a bit outdated but comfortable and clean.

“A must visit”

Settled on this resort after looking at many others. The resort is in a great location in relation the Volcano Arenal as well as a short drive into town. There are families out and about, and while we had no small children in our group we did not find any issue with this, others though WERE bothere… more

Settled on this resort after looking at many others. The resort is in a great location in relation the Volcano Arenal as well as a short drive into town. There are families out and about, and while we had no small children in our group we did not find any issue with this, others though WERE bothered and those people should have chosen an adults only location. The rooms could use some small updates here and there, but ours was large, clean and provided what was needed. I don't see this as a 5 star resort so I knew what to expect. I could have done with a softer blanket, but the AC ran cool and there were extra blankets. I will say that many of the rooms appeared to be undergoing renovations and/or repairs. We couldn't have been happier with the room we were placed in as the viewing terrace was right outside our front door and we were out there often. The resort is very spread out, but if you are not up to hiking around (which we did much of the time and it WAS challenging) there is a shuttle that is relatively quick to respond to you for a ride to an from where you need to go. We hiked to the observatory and I would only recommend this for those who are physically fit (but we found it very worth it for the view, fruit trees along the way and the horses). The restaurant could provide a few more options for dinner, but the food was good as was the service. Breakfast was also delicious, but the selections were somewhat limited. The pools are all lovely, so many to choose from and none were crowded when we visited. The on site gift shop is a nice touch.

Big rooms, our "standerd" was on ground floor and very close to the pools and restaruant. We were lucky becouse, exploring all the compounds, the hotel is HUGE, there are cottages and rooms also VERY far from main area, so far you need the car (but there is a shuttle moving continously across the Lodge) to get down to the main area. In this huge compoud there is also a lake (very nice where is possible to swim) and a look out on the volcano. Maybe the far away cottage-rooms are for long term, or for families, I do not know. Our room had a 2 queen size bed and was big with a big bathroom (2 washbasin, big shower), 2 big windows on 2 side, so the "entrance" side and a second on the garden (with a hummerbird always flying there). Lots of light. So room perfect (but beside the closet, no other place to hung anything....lot of empty walls...I will put around more hanging for towels and clothes otherwise you do not know where to put them). The restaurant was big (we were in low season so was used half of it) but a bit dark...one part get light and sun but most of it was really dark under a roof and heavy garden in one side...so it was all open but you do not feel open, you feel enclosed...but in low season everyone was in the airy open side) but the quality of breakfast was basic...low i will say. To be a 4 star, really poor breakfast not in quantity o variety, but in quality. However, it was enought, you can find something to eat for sure. We did not try the lunch or dinner here. The pools were many and very nice.....the real swimming pool was pretty cold....the rest of the pools were thermal, so they were from warm to hot. Honestly, too warmo. So the hot pools were for sure too hot for the weather (we had 32°C), and the warm pools were still too warm.......but then you move from the coldest of the thermal pool (still too warm) to the swimming pool, (too cold). I do not understand why they do not mix some of them so to get some pool warm but less warm. Anyway them were many so lot of space. Still, in peack season I can imagine will become a bit crowded. All in all for the price we paied (120$ a day, I think, pretty low) it was all good. But honestly I was in better Lodge 4 star around the rest of the world. Was I really apreciate here was the huge area and the many pools.
